Happy Birthday Honey!

Happy Birthday Honey! Today is hubby's birthday, so I used this cute toilet-themed set that my friend Lori got me from Gina K. It's a running joke that I have so many bathroom issues, so this set was perfect for me! Hubby was trying to forget that it was his birthday, so the saying was just right.

Stamps: Way to Go (Gina K)

Cardstock: Cool Caribbean, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Loves Me Designer series papers

Ink: Chocolate Chip

Sympathy Card

It seems that this year has brought many losses for my family already. This past Saturday, my sister's grandmother-in-law Vera passed away. I think she was 92. This is for her daughter. Holidays just won't be the same. Vera and my mother-in-law, who just passed in January, always enjoyed seeing each other and talking at our family dinners. It's very sad that they're both gone now.

I stamped the roses and leaves all over the base white piece first, leaving little white space. Then I ran that through the Cuttlebug.

Stamps: Roses in Winter, Warmest Regards

Cardstock: Certainly Celery, Barely Banana, Whisper White

Ink: Barely Banana, Apricot Appeal, Certainly Celery

Other: Apricot grosgrain ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals, Cuttlebug embossing folder.

Creativity Unleashed!

My friend Kristal decided to give stamping a try...she started out with some flowers, and then got into it and used every piece out of the sports set that she could. What a dork!!! Jamie has this "Kristal Original" on her desk now. :)

Stamps: Embrace Life, Have a Ball

Cardstock: Whisper White

Ink:....who even remembers! A lot of different colors.

Bloggers Challenge - Chipboard

This week's challenge was to use Chipboard in some way! You'll love how all the other blog challengers used chipboard on their projects too, so be sure to check them out.

My friend Paula just gave me this pack of chipboard letters. They're a shade between Old Olive and Always Artichoke, so I used both of those papers to try to tie it together. I used the negative image of the "B" here. You can get double the use out of your chipboard letters if you use the negative images as well.

Stamps: Just B

Cardstock: Always Artichoke, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip

Ink: Chocolate Chip

Other: Chipboard letters from a dollar store, Chocolate Chip Poly Twill ribbon (only available until May 31st!), Stampin' Dimensionals

Bloggers Challenge - Triangle Box

This week's challenge was to make a Triangle Box. You must check the other girls pages - there are a LOT of different varieties. I did mine using a 2 to 1 ratio. I started with a 11" x 5 1/2" piece of cardstock, scored in half (at 5 1/2") and scored from the center of each short side to the side of the center crease...making a diamond. When you fold up the scores, the flaps are tucked over each other. Punch two holes in the sides, and the ribbon keeps it shut.

Stamps: Eat Cake

Cardstock: Real Red, Whisper White

Ink: Real Red

Other: Real Red Striped Grosgrain, 1/8" hole punch, Markers - Brilliant Blue, Real Red, Only Orange, Yoyo Yellow

Embrace Life

This card came about from a challenge to use only Black, White, and ONE other color. I liked the River Rock.

Note about coloring in the leaf things - I don't have a River Rock marker, so I smashed my River Rock ink spot on a stamp case (plastic), and then picked up that color with a blender pen. Works like a charm!

Stamps: Embrace Life

Cardstock: River Rock, Basic Black, Whisper White, Ginger Blossoms DSPs

Ink: Basic Black, River Rock

Other: Gold brads, Ticket corner punch

Dolled up note holder!

Look what my friend Diane made! She took a metal wall hanging - I think it had a quote or something on it...covered it with decorated cardstock. Added some pieces that you could put pictures or tack up notes. Finished by adding a sticky note pad, and some cute marble magnets to hold stuff on there. It's gorgeous!

Bloggers Challenge - Spring Flowers!

This week's challenge was to make a card with spring flowers. I actually made this card for another challenge, but really liked it so I'm sharing it here too.

Treat Box Makin' Fools!

We have been some basket makin' fools lately girls! Our very own paper crafter, Jamie Gibbs, took the treat basket idea and totally rolled with it! Look at all the lovely creations she came up with! I love her choices in cardstock, decorator papers, and ribbons. Fantastic job Jamie!

The St. Patrick's Day box is one that I just made on Friday for a friend's son. I had that bag of chocolate coins forever - or at least 2 years...hope he doesn't get sick from it! ;)

Easter Basket!

Easter is almost here! This is an easy peasy Easter basket that you can make in almost no time at all. It took me about 15 minutes with all of the scoring, cutting, and taping.

The cool part is that it only uses 1 sheet of 12x12 cardstock, and 2 sheets of Designer Series papers. I used some from the Spring Fling pack for this basket.

This would be SUPER cute with Easter grass actually in it, and candy to show you the full effect - but Easter grass is no longer allowed in our house. The cat will eat it up like it's a treat, and I don't have time to take her in for surgery again...she did that to us 6 years ago, and it was a nightmare.

You can find the tutorial to make this cute basket by clicking here, on splitcoaststampers. You can also see a few others that I've made by clicking on the Label for "treat box" to the right here...scroll down till you find it.

Pretty in Pink cardstock, Spring Fling Designer series papers, Celery narrow grosgrain ribbon.

My Aunt's first marriage

Don't you hate it when you take a picture of a picture, and there's a big ole' glare on it??? The glare is covering up my sister. These pictures were taken at my aunt's first marriage in 1983. That's my sister, my mom, and me in the big picture. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of the actual bride and groom, so it's more of a family portrait here. :)

Stamps: Spring Solitude bundle

Cardstock: Night of Navy, Bordering Blue, Whisper White

Ink: Night of Navy, Bordering Blue, Brocade Blue ink cartridge (grabbed the wrong one, doh!)

Other: Photo Corners punch, Gold brads, 1/16" hole punch, Rich Regals buttons, Mini glue dots, Stampin' Dimensionals

Bloggers Challenge - copy a layout!

This week's bloggers challenge was to copy the layout on page 44 of the Spring/Summer 2008 Collection - the sympathy card. This is my version, in a baby theme.

The "for Baby" stamp really says "is for Baby". I merely inked it up carefully with my Versamark pad, so that I omitted the "is".

Stamps: Wild About You, Just B

Cardstock: Pretty in Pink, Whisper White, Spring Fling Designer Series Papers

Ink: Pretty in Pink, Versamark

Other: White embossing powder, Embossing Buddy, Heat tool, 1/8" hole punch, White grosgrain, Stampin' Dimensionals

Hey Chick!

I got a pack of Amuse cards on my trip to Cape Cod last spring...just now opened them! They're really cute, and a fun size. 4 1/4" square. I paired them with the chicky from A Good Egg. I need to find my little stamp that says "to one of my favorite PEEPS!"...I got that last year too, and seem to have lost it.

Stamps: A Good Egg

Cardstock: Amuse notecards, Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White

Ink: Basic Grey

Other: Markers - Pretty in Pink, Only Orange; Embossing Buddy, 2-way glue pen, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter

Bloggers Challenge - Color Combo

This week's challenge was to use a combination of colors - Purely Pomegranate, Brilliant Blue, and Old Olive. Unfortunately, I don't have the Pomegranate...so I substituted with the closest color in my stash. I used Rose Red, Brilliant Blue, and Old Olive. I really like them together!

For my interest piece on this card, I used my brand new Photo Corners Punch from Stampin' Up. I punched it three times all in a row...I just eyeballed it, and got it darn close to perfect. I started out with a big-ish strip of Rose Red, pushed the punch all the way up as far as it goes, punched it, then moved to the left a little and punched again. Keeping the cardstock pushed all the way in to the bottom of the punch keeps it even. The only trick is eyeballing it as you move over to punch the next one. After I did that, I trimmed it, and cut a piece of white to go behind it. That's just one strip of white cardstock, not 3 separate blocks. I just stamped where I thought the images would line up to show through, and it worked out.

I also gave texture to my Old Olive layer with the Direct-to-paper technique. I just rub the ink pad directly on the cardstock. Sometimes I use a circle motion. Sometimes I just go back and forth. I love the look it gives! Easy background with minimal work.

Stamps: True Friend

Cardstock: Rose Red, Brilliant Blue, Old Olive, Whisper White

Ink: Brilliant Blue, Old Olive, Versamark

Other: Photo Corners Punch, Winter White embossing powder, Heat tool, Embossing buddy, Bold Brights eyelets, Earth Elements eyelets, eyelet setting kit
