Hi Crafty Peeps! Sorry I didn't get this blog post finished this weekend. After Thursday night's video sound issues, I wanted to make the second stand up notepad and pen holder with a different sized notepad. I got both of these notepads at the Dollar Tree. So I made the bonus video last night, and it is linked below. I'm also including paper measurements for BOTH sizes in this blog post. I hope you enjoy them!
Just a reminder that I am generally Live on-line every Thursday at 8:00pm ET. I stream to BOTH YouTube and Facebook simultaneously, but I recommend viewing on YouTube.
If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube. If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it.
I made a bonus video late Sunday night, to show you how to do the math to come up with the measurements for a different size notepad. If the link does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it.
To start out, I re-made the first Stand-Up Notepad and Pen Holder that I made in 2019. This was before I was making videos, and I think this was from an in-person Stamp Club meeting. It deserved to be updated! Now you'll have to watch the video for assembly, but I'm going to provide ALL of the paper measurements below, along with some additional pictures.
Click HERE to get to my blog post from 2019, that has step-by-step instructions on how to make this same size notepad and pen holder. It's even the same size notepad (4" x 6").
Paper Measurements:
- Mossy Meadow/BOX: 6 1/2" x 8 3/4"
- Score on the 6 1/2" side at 3/4" and 5 3/4"
- Score on the 8 3/4" side at 4" and 4 3/4"
- Mossy Meadow/EASEL: 5" x 10", scored at 5"
- Mossy Meadow/ BACK of Easel: 4 3/4" x 4 3/4", embossed with Lazy Daisy folder
- Mossy Meadow/HINGE: 5" x 4", scored on the 4" side at 1", 2", 3"
- Mossy Meadow/PEN HOLDER: 3 1/8" x 3 7/8", scored on the 3 7/8" side at 5/8", 1 1/4", 1 7/8", and 2 1/2"
- Peaceful Pine: 3 3/4" x 4 3/4"
- Moonlit Flora DSP: 3 1/2" 4 1/2"
- Garden Green/Mossy Meadow/Old Olive/Peaceful Pine/Basic Black/Real Red: scraps to die-cut floral bits, ladybug parts, and monogram "T".
Stamps: Fern & Flora bundle
Ink: NO Ink!
Paper: Mossy Meadow, Peaceful Pine, Old Olive, Garden Green, Basic Black, Real Red, Moonlit Flora Designer Series Paper
Other: Party Alphabet Dies, Springtime Scenes dies, Ladybug Picnic embossing folder, Lazy Daisy embossing folder, Dew Drops, Notepad and Pen (Dollar Tree)
The second version that I made Sunday night was made to hold a 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" notepad. I also ended up making this easel part taller than the note pad, which was unintentional. I didn't read my ruler correctly when figuring out the measurements! :) There are some other blunders in the video, so make sure you watch the video - I added text with corrected measurements during the video.
I also did not finish dolling this one up. Too tired (like I am now). The whole point of the bonus video was to show you how to draw out the pattern and do some math to accommodate different size notepads.
Paper Measurements:
- Secret Sea/BOX: 6 7/8" x 6 3/4"
- Score on the 6 7/8" side at 3/4" in from each end
- Score on the 6 3/4" side at 3" and 3 3/4"
- Secret Sea/EASEL: 5 3/8" x 10", scored at 5"
- Secret Sea/ BACK of Easel: 4 3/4" x 5 1/8", embossed with Forever Plaid folder
- Secret Sea/HINGE: 5" x 4", scored on the 4" side at 1", 2", 3"
- Secret Sea/PEN HOLDER: 2 7/8" x 3 7/8", scored on the 3 7/8" side at 5/8", 1 1/4", 1 7/8", and 2 1/2"
- Mixed Up Patterns DSP: 2 3/4" x 5 1/8"
I really love projects like this, and you can certainly customize them with whatever stamps, papers and doo-dads that you have. For my second holder, I tried to use colors from the notepad itself.
This Thursday, I'm going to play with the Balloon Festoon Bundle, the Pretty Party Card Kit, and some ballooon-themed lunch/treat paper bags that Sharon La C sent to me a little bit ago. I'm going to put all of those things together to make a Vertical Paper Back Mini Album...similar to this one that I made kind of recently. Same principles, but I'm also adding in bits from the card kit. It'll be fun!
Thanks for visiting, and Happy stamping!
