Light and Wonder Dies - Cool cards!

Saturday evening greetings to you folks!  I am updating Dave's laptop right now, so taking the time to update my blog at the same time.  :)  I'm sharing the cards that I made live on Thursday night, featuring the Light & Wonder dies.  Up front - I did not get this bundle.  I only got the dies, because I liked the two different tree lines.  I figured I can use any greeting that I want with it.  I also got the Lights of Aurora designer series paper pack, also from this Suite....because it's too pretty not to have for some Northern Lights projects.

I also shared that these were not my original ideas.  I had to do some homework and research to figure out how to use these dies to build some cool scenes!  The different mountain and terrain pieces were making me question myself...I couldn't figure out how to put them together.  Luckily, there is always someone on-line who figures out all the tricky things!  I'll definitely be using these more, but these were my first cut at creating with the dies.

Just a reminder that I am generally Live on-line every Thursday at 8:00pm ET.  I stream to BOTH YouTube and Facebook simultaneously, but I recommend viewing on YouTube.

If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube.  If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it.

First up is a sunset-mountain-lake scene.  I decided to use the 2025-2025 In Colors for this one, because the colors go together so nicely and definitely fit the bill for a sunset card.  I also cut the "lake water" out of both the Secret Sea and the Cloud Cover cardstock, so the pieces lock in like a puzzle.   The only inking was on the Darling Duckling sun, and the greeting.

Paper Measurements:
  • Cloud Cover:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Cloud Cover: 4 1/4" wide scrap to die-cut lake
  • Darling Duckling:  1" circle
  • Strawberry Slush/Timid Tiger/Secret Sea:  4 1/4" wide pieces to die-cut mountains and trees
I glued everything down flat, and stamped the greeting right in the middle of the "lake".  Finished off with some Riverside Irregular Pearls.

Stamps:  Simply Said
Ink:  Darling Duckling, Secret Sea
Paper:  Cloud Cover, Darling Duckling, Secret Sea, Strawberry Slush, Timid Tiger, Basic White
Other:  Light & Wonder dies, 1" circle punch, Riverside Irregular Pearls

For the second card, I used the mountain die-cuts as masks and ink-blended different shades of purple.  I started with Fresh Freesia for the first mountain, then added Petunia Pop, and then Gorgeous Grape at the bottom.  Then I went back to the tippy top and added some Pretty in Pink.

You could use ANY monotone colors.  I went with purples, but this would be beautiful in blues, browns, even gray/black.

Paper Measurements:
  • Basic Beige:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Basic Beige:  4" x 4"
  • Basic Beige:  3 3/8" x 3 3/4" - ink blend all your mountains first, then cut into (3) 1 1/8" x 3 3/4" strips.
  • Gorgeous Grape:  scrap to die-cut tree line.
I popped the 4" x 4" layer up with foam tape.  Finish off with some Purple Fine Shimmer gems.

Stamps:  12 Days of Crafting Advent Calendar stamp set
Ink:  Fresh Freesia, Petunia Pop, Gorgeous Grape, Pretty in Pink
Paper:  Basic Beige, Gorgeous Grape
Other:  Light & Wonder dies, Purple Fine Shimmer Gems

The last card is yet another COOL scene.  This time we've got the Northern Lights from the designer paper, then some snow-capped mountains, another lake, and the two different tree lines.

I ink-blended Balmy Blue and Pool Party to make the lake this time.

I left off the greeting, but I will add one when I'm ready to send.  Maybe across the bottom of the card front.

Paper Measurements:
  • Basic Black:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Lights of Aurora Designer Series Paper:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
  • Basic White:  5 1/2" wide scrap to die-cut mountain
  • Cloud Cover:  5 1/2" wide scrap to die-cut mountain
  • Basic White:  5 1/2" scrap to ink blend lake
  • Blackberry Bliss:  6" wide scrap to die-cut tree line
  • Basic Black:  6" wide scrap to die-cut second tree line.
I went with some regular Basic Rhinestones to finish this one off.

Stamps:  None!
Ink: Balmy Blue, Pool Party
Paper: Basic Black, Basic White, Cloud Cover, Blackberry Bliss, Lights of Aurora Designer Series Paper
Other:  Light & Wonder dies, Basic Rhinestones

I hope these cards give you some inspiration for creating your own scenic cards.  I'm not an outdoorsy person, but I love what you can create using these dies.

Tune in this coming Thursday for a fun Cocoa/Cider folder that will be perfect for Fall and Christmas holidays!

Thanks for visiting, and Happy stamping!
