12 Weeks of Christmas Cards: Week 1

Welcome to Week 1 of my 12 Weeks of Christmas Cards!  This is going to be a challenge for me, but I have wanted to do this for so long.  I did a "25 Days of Christmas" back in 2017, and that was WAY too much.  I could barely keep up, and didn't feel like I was having fun creating.  Daily was too much.  Weekly seems reasonable.  THIS will be different.  I've promised myself.  :)

My challenge is ultimately to share lots of holiday card ideas with YOU, and get four cards made every week for ME.  Win-win.  I will create and post every Sunday, and should hit the 12th week by mid-December - still time to get the last of my Christmas cards mailed out.

I'm starting off with a set of slim line cards.  I love this style of card, AND I was able to get the DSP panels for all four cards out of one 12" x 12" sheet of this pattern.  I still have enough of the pattern left to get maybe two A2 cards out of.  Yay!

Very simple design for these cards.  Make the designer series paper do all the hard work and be pretty, and then add an interesting greeting panel.

I stamped "Merry" first in Old Olive, then added "christmas" kind over top of it in Secret Sea.  The bigger word goes down first in the lighter ink, so that the second word still shows up and stands out in the darker ink.  Play around with your ink colors.  You could also gold-emboss that "christmas" and it would stand out nicely.

I stamped some of the pines on the corners in Old Olive, then went in with the Bronze (or any brown) Stampin' Blend to color the branches.  You could use a regular Stampin' Write marker as well...it was just easier to grab this Stampin' Blend.

Paper Measurements:
  • Secret Sea:  8 1/2" x 7", scored at 3 1/2"
  • Old Olive:  3 1/4" x 8 1/4"
  • Basic White:  3 1/4" x 8 1/4", for inside of card
  • Elegant Pine Snowflakes Designer Series Paper:  3" x 8"
  • Secret Sea:  1 1/2" x 3 3/8"
  • Basic White:  1 1/4" x 3 1/8"
Glue the greeting down in the middle of the dsp/Old Olive panel and then tie the Secret Sea ribbon around that whole panel.  Glue that down to your card front.

Take your Dark Cherry Cobbler (or any dark red, or Sharpie) Stampin' Blend marker and color some regular rhinestones to add.

Supplies you'll need to create these (Stampin' Up, unless otherwise noted.  Items may be retired.):
