Simply Zinnias Part 1 of 2.  Our first four cards from Wednesday night.  Click HERE if the video below doesn't show up.

First card is what I'm calling a Collar Fold.  I've made this card quite a bit, but I've never paid much attention to the name of this fold...if there even is one.  I think it looks like a collar when you fold the corners down, so that's what I'm going with.

Don't forget - YOU are going to cut your DSP for every card that needs it.

We've got a Petal Pink card base, with the DSP folded over.  Then you'll hand-cut a few flowers out of the DSP directly.  Watch the video to see how I've actually used partial flowers, but it looks like a full bunch.

Paper measurements:
  • Petal Pink:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
  • Flowering Zinnias DSP:  4" x 5 1/4", and three flowers/partial flowers hand-cut
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Basic White:  2" x 5 1/4", to stamp and cut greeting
Build your bunch of flowers, using Stampin' Dimensionals to pop them up.

Finish off with some of your Shiny Sequins.

Stamps:  Simply Said
Ink:  Blackberry Bliss
Paper:  Petal Pink, Basic White, Flowering Zinnias Designer series paper
Other:  Shiny Sequins

My second card shows background stamping, as well as layering die-cuts.  I crumpled each flower in my hand individually, to give it all that extra crunched up texture.  Be careful not to rip your flower petals when you are crumpling.  Layer the flowers together to make them even more dimensional.

Stamp your greeting on the Basic Beige cardstock.

Paper measurements:
  • Basic Beige:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
  • Basic Beige:  4" x 5 1/4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Basic Beige:  2" x 5 1/4", to stamp and cut greeting
  • Gorgeous Grape, Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive:  I die-cut all of these for you in the class packet
I glued all the stems and flowers down, and popped up the greeting.  Finish off with some more Shiny Sequins.

Stamps:  Simply Zinnias bundle
Ink:  Basic Beige (OR Versamark, although this will show up lighter than using the Basic Beige ink), Gorgeous Grape
Paper:  Basic Beige, Basic White, Gorgeous Grape, Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive
Other:  Shiny Sequins

The third card is a slimline! I love this size of cards - 3 1/2" x 8 1/2". You'll need to cut (3) pieces of your DSP for this one, and then we're stamping and coloring a bunch of flowers. REMEMBER - if you don't have the Simply Zinnias bundle...you can use any flower set that you already have.

Paper measurements:
  • Old Olive:  8 1/2" x 7", scored and folded at 3 1/2"
  • Flowering Zinnias DSP  (3 patterns):  1 1/2" x 3 1/2"
  • Basic White:  3 1/4" x 8 1/4", for inside of card
  • Basic White:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2", notched corner to stamp and cut flowers and greeting
After I colored in my flowers, I hit all of that with the Clear Wink of Stella.  Finish off with sequins.

Stamps:  Simply Zinnias bundle, Simply Said
Ink:  Midnight (Catherine Pooler), Mossy Meadow
Paper:  Old Olive, Basic White, Flowering Zinnias Designer series paper
Other:  Stampin' Blends markers (various), Shiny Sequins, Clear Wink of Stella

The last card for our first night of class is a really cool Open Frame Easel Card.  Same idea as a regular Easel card, but that top layer is a double layer frame that I cut using the Countryside Corners dies.  I ended up leaving this one black and white, mostly because of TIME.  I was running so far behind.  You can totally color the flowers on this card ANY way you want.

Paper measurements:
  • Basic White Thick:  4 1/4" x 11", scored and folded at 5 1/2" and 2 3/4"
  • Basic White Thick:  enough to die-cut two frames.  I used the 2nd and 3rd size dies from the Countryside Corners dies
  • Basic White:  2 1/2" x 4", embossed with the Zinnias folder
  • Basic White Thick:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2", notched corner to stamp and cut flowers and greeting
Here's a side view of this card -

Stamps:  Simply Zinias bundle
Ink:  Midnight (Catherine Pooler)
Paper:  Basic White (Thick and regular)
Other:  Zinnias embossing folder, Countryside Corners dies

That's it for our first night's batch of cards!

Simply Zinnias Part 2 of 2.  Our next four cards from Thursday night.  Click HERE if the video below doesn't show up.

This time, I started out with a slimline card - a Gatefold Slimline to be exact.  I thought it would be fun to try a different fold along with a slimline.  I like it!  You'll need to cut two strips of DSP for this one - this is from the same sheet of paper, just flipped over.  I also show how to use magnets to keep this one closed, so watch the video for that part.

Paper measurements:
  • Gorgeous Grape:  8 1/2" x 7", scored and folded at 1 3/4" from each end
  • Flowering Zinnias DSP :  (2) 1 1/2" x 8 1/4"
  • Basic White:  3 1/4" x 8 1/4", for inside of card
  • Gorgeous Grape:  2 3/4" x 4 1/2"
  • Basic White:  2 1/2" x 4 1/4", embossed with Distressed Tile folder
  • Basic White:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2", notched corner to stamp and cut flowers and greeting
I colored in the flowers with Stampin' Blends, and added some Clear Wink of Stella (I think).

Stamps:  Simply Zinias bundle, Simply Said
Ink:  Midnight (Catherine Pooler), Gorgeous Grape
Paper:  Gorgeous Grape, Basic White, Flowering Zinnias Designer series paper
Other:  Distressed Tile embossing folder, Stampin' Blends markers (various), Shiny Sequins, Clear Wink of Stella

The second card might be my favorite from tonight, although it's hard to choose.  I shared this style of card a couple of years ago and I call it a Tri-Fold...but there might be a better name?  I don't know - open to suggestions!

The way to get this window cut out of the front is to glue down the embossed piece of Melon Mambo to your card base FIRST, then cut out that window with a die.  I used the Everyday Details dies, largest rectangle.  It's not recommended to cut through two layers of cardstock with your dies, but I feel like once in a while isn't going to hurt anything.  The idea is it will dull the die blade part.

Paper measurements:
  • Berry Burst:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
  • Melon Mambo:  4" x 5 1/4", embossed with Zinnias folder
  • Basic White:  5 1/4" x 8", scored and folded at 4"
  • Flowering Zinnias DSP:  3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
  • Basic White:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2", notched corner to stamp and cut flowers and greeting
Here is how it looks opened -

I used Watercolor Pencils and a blender pen to color these flowers/stems.  Just to do something different.  You can obviously color with anything that you want.

Stamps:  Simply Zinnias bundle
Ink:  Midnight (Catherine Pooler), Blackberry Bliss
Paper:  Berry Burst, Melon Mambo, Basic White, Flowering Zinnias Designer series paper
Other:  Everyday Details dies, Zinnias embossing folder, Watercolor Pencils (both packs), Blender pen, Shiny Sequins

For the next card, we're using ALL of the "B" side prints of the DSP to make this fun background.  I originally cut my strips 3/4" wide, but that is tooooo wide.  You only need 1/2" wide.  I'm embossing the Lemon Lime Twist for you, with the new Dotted Circles folder.  Glue down your strips of DSP flat, at an angle.  Then color and add a flower and the greeting.

I used Stampin' Write (water-based) markers to color this flower, just to show you yet another way to color in these Zinnias flowers.  You can still get some shading using what we call "the regular markers).  It's definitely something to try out.

Paper measurements:
  • Lemon Lime Twist:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
  • Lemon Lime Twist:  4" x 5 1/4", embossed with Dotted Circles folder
  • Basic White:  3 1/4" x 8 1/4", for inside of card
  • Flowering Zinnias DSP (6 patterns):  1/2" x 6"
  • Basic White:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2", notched corner to stamp and cut flowers and greeting
Pop that flower up and I glued the greeting down flat.  Finished off with a few sequins.

Stamps:  Simply Zinias bundle, Simply Said
Ink:  Midnight (Catherine Pooler), Mossy Meadow
Paper:  Old Olive, Basic White, Flowering Zinnias Designer series paper
Other:  Stampin' Write Markers (Berry Burst, Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Lemon Lime Twist, Granny Apple Green), Shiny Sequins

The last card features the Faux Inlaid Embossing Technique, AND I'm using all of the NEW In Colors!  I've die-cut all the flowers and leaves for you.  You glue down some flowers and leaves on the smallest piece of Basic White cardstock, THEN feed that through with an embossing folder of your choice.

Paper measurements:
  • Basic White Thick:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4"
  • Basic White:  3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
  • Pretty in Pink, Petunia Pop, Peach Pie, Summer Splash, Shy Shamrock:  Various flowers and leaves already die-cut
  • Basic White:  2" x 5 1/4", notched corner to stamp and cut greeting
Finish off with some regular old Rhinestones.

Stamps:  Simply Said
Ink:  Onyx Versafine
Paper:  Basic White (Thick and regular), Pretty in Pink, Peach Pie, Petunia Pop, Shy Shamrock, Summer Splash
Other:  Simply Zinnias dies, Exposed Brick embossing folder, Basic Rhinestones

Whew!  I hope you LOVE all of these cards, and just a reminder - if you want the class packet mailed to you - submit this form (https://forms.gle/3Bu9eUf5LT6d7pwr7), and I'll send you an invoice through Paypal that needs to be paid by 5/19/2024.  Any questions - please email me at tonistamps@yahoo.com.

This Thursday, I've decided to create some scrapbook pages!  I haven't designed my own scrapbook pages in a LONG time...I've been mostly using kits from various companies (Creative Memories and Club Scrap) to make pages, and then theoretically just add my pictures.  With all of the Close to My Heart Makers that have transitioned over to Stampin Up recently...they are sharing some amazing pages that have inspired me to come up with some designs of my own.  I love all the idea sharing that goes on!  The internet is still good for some things.  :)

Thanks for stopping by, and Happy Stamping!
