February 2024 Virtual Workshop - Notes of Nature and Inspirational Sketches

Hello Crafty Friends!

I presented my February Virtual Workshop on Thursday night, using Notes of Nature and Inspirational Sketches.  They are both from the January - April 2024 Mini catalog, and I think they pair well together.  If you don't have these particular images - find something similar in your stash and roll with it.

Check out my Workshop of the Month page for details about my workshop, the ordering specials and the online ordering code.  Short version:  Use code XUAWZFFF when placing your qualifying order online this month and get some freebies!   Don't forget to select your Sale-a-Bration FREE items when you check out!

Reminder that we are in the second and last half of Sale-a-Bration 2024.  Stampin' Up added some more Sale-a-Bration choices, which I will add a picture of at the end of this post.  If you are in the US and don't already have a demonstrator, I'll be happy to send you the catalogs.  Email me at tonistamps@yahoo.com.  Look at the PDF versions online over on this page.

Just a reminder that I am generally Live on-line every Thursday at 8:00pm ET.  I am streaming to BOTH YouTube and Facebook simultaneously.

If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube.  If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.

The first card features some of the Nature's Sweetness designer series paper.  I cut this particular patterned sheet into 4" x 6" pieces.  I colored the image with Stampin' Blends - use whatever coloring tools you have.  Hand-cut that image, but save the left over pieces of designer series paper.  I stamped the greeting on the back side of one scrap, and then added another scrap to the card.

I crumpled up my Pecan Pie layer with my hands.  I don't spray water on my cardstock before I crumple it - but plenty of people do.  You can go either way with that.  Spray or no spray.  Flatten out somewhat and glue to the card base.

Paper measurements:
  • Pecan Pie:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2”, scored and folded at 4 1/4”
  • Pecan Pie:  4" x 5 1/4"
  • Basic White:  4” x 5 1/4”, for inside of card
  • Nature's Sweetness Designer Series Paper:  4" x 6" panel
Finished off with some Cork Rounds.  I also colored in the pods with Clear Wink of Stella.

Stamps:  Inspirational Sketches
Ink:  Midnight (Catherine Pooler)
Paper: Pecan Pie, Basic White, Nature's Sweetness Designer Series Paper
Other:  Cork Rounds, Stampin' Blends (Pecan Pie, Parakeet Party, Clear Wink of Stella brush

This second card features a pop of color with those red mushrooms.  If you don't have the mushrooms, just go with any other color-in image and make it stand out against this Pebbled Path background and card base.  I think something in yellow or purple would pop nicely too!

I stamped some of the grid on the card base, then added a strip of the Nature's Sweetness designer series paper.  I LOVE the gold on there!   Layer a couple of circles, and pop up those hand-cut mushrooms on top.

I used my watercolor pencils and a blender pen to color those mushrooms.  Use any coloring medium or tool that you want.

Paper measurements:
  • Pebbled Path:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2”, scored and folded at 4 1/4”
  • Basic White:  4” x 5 1/4”, for inside of card
  • Nature's Sweetness DSP:  3" x 5 1/2"
  • Pebbled Path:  3 1/4" circle, cut with Everyday Details dies
  • Basic White:  2 3/4" circle, embossed with Distressed Tile folder
  • Basic White THICK:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2", notched corner to stamp/hand-cut mushrooms and greeting
I still added Cork Rounds to this card, but this time I colored them with a Pebbled Path Stampin' Write marker.

Stamps:  Notes of Nature, Inspirational Sketches
Ink:  Midnight (Catherine Pooler)
Paper:  Pebbled Path, Basic White (Thick and Regular), Nature's Sweetness Designer Series paper
Other:  Everyday Details dies, Layering Circles dies, Distressed Tile embossing folder, watercolor pencils, Blender pen, Clear Wink of Stella brush, Cork Rounds

Third card is a nice tone-on-tone in Soft Sea Foam.  I embossed a layer with the new Layered Floral embossing folder.  It's 3-D and really stands out!  Stamped the bird in black, and colored with some Stampin' Blends.  Again - color your image with whatever coloring things you have.

I added a circle of vellum behind the bird to kind of soften things up.  Stamp and punch the greeting to overlap the vellum some too.

Paper measurements:
  • Soft Sea Foam:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
  • Soft Sea Foam:  4" x 5 1/4", embossed with Layered Floral folder
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Vellum:  2 1/2" circle
  • Basic White THICK:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2", notched corner to stamp/cut/punch bird and greeting
You could also emboss that greeting in gold.  That would look very nice!

Finish with several Cork Rounds.

Stamps: Notes of Nature, Inspirational Sketches
Ink:  Midnight (Catherine Pooler)
Paper:  Soft Sea Foam, Basic White (Thick and Regular), vellum
Other:   Layered Floral embossing folder, 2 1/2" Circle punch, Lasting Label punch, Stampin' Blends (Crumb Cake, Soft Sea Foam, Bubble Bath), Cork Rounds

The last card is a slimline card.  I found this particular card design on Club Scrap's resource page!  Seriously - they have scrapbook page AND card kits released every month.  At the top of their web site, you'll find "Resources", and under there is Instructions.   They have a LOT of great page and card designs!  I loved the three panels on this one.

This card is very simple... stamp all the images on the background layer, collage-style.  Add the gold foil papers, layered on Basic Black.  Add in a few leaves cut from Distressed Gold Foil paper.   Greeting is stamped in black, but you could emboss that in gold too...wouldn't hurt!

Black/gold squares are popped up with foam tape.

Paper measurements:
  • Basic Black:  8 1/2" x 7", scored in half at 3 1/2"
  • Basic White:  (2) 3 1/4" x 8 1/4", one for inside of card, one for layering on front.
  • Basic Black:  (3) 2 1/4" x 2 1/4"
  • Nature's Sweetness DSP:  (3) 2" x 2"
  • Basic White:  scrap to die-cut label from Everyday Details dies
  • Distressed Gold Foil:  scraps to die-cut a few leaves with Notes of Nature dies
I forgot to add the Cork Rounds in my video, so added them before taking this picture.

Stamps:  Notes of Nature bundle
Ink:   Midnight (Catherine Pooler), Tuxedo Memento
Paper:  Basic Black, Basic White, Nature's Sweetness Designer Series Paper, Distressed Gold Foil
Other:  Everyday Details dies, Cork Rounds
