Craft Roulette Challenges 172 and 173 - It's a two-fer!

You get a two-for-one post this week!  I didn't have time to post last week's submission for the Craft Roulette Challenge, so you get to see both right now!  I missed episode #171 completely, so you're getting #172 and #173.

Find Craft Roulette on YouTube @CraftRoulette and play along when you can!

Episode #172 parameters, and how I met them:
  • Project:  Z-fold Card.  It's a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" finished size diagonal z-fold.
  • Colors:  Any Colors
  • Element: Old - stamps on the two smaller balloons is really old (over 20 years old!)
  • Random: Something from my MESK - Fresh Freesia card base pieces, gems and iridescent ribbon

Making this card was interesting.  I had to piece the card base together.  Started out with a regular 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" base piece, and added another flap 3 3/4" x 5" to make the front flap.

Paper Measurements:
  • Fresh Freesia:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4", and 8"
  • Fresh Freesia:  3 3/4" x 5"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Bright & Beautiful Designer series paper:  6" x 6" piece
  • Basic White:  3 3/4" x 3 3/4", to die-cut three-balloon cluster base
  • Fresh Freesia:  scrap to die-cut tag.
I die-cut the three-balloon cluster out of Basic White, and only stamped the largest balloon on that piece.  For the other two balloons, I either die-cut them out of paper and cardstock, stamped some pattern on and then glued/popped them up on top of the three-balloon base piece.

Card standing up -  You can see that the balloon cluster is only attached to the front panel near the bottom of the balloons.

When I angle cut the front flaps, I saved one of the angled pieces and embossed it.  Glued to the front panel.

Tag has greeting embossed in white, and an Iridescent Ribbon bow glued down.  Tag is glued down flat.  Finished with some gems on my mesk.  I think they were from an old Paper Pumpkin kit.

Supplies you'll need to create these (Stampin' Up, unless otherwise noted.  Items may be retired.):

Stamps:  Beautiful Balloons bundle, Itty Bitty Backgrounds
Ink:  Bubble Bath, Fresh Freesia, Versamark
Paper: Fresh Freesia, Basic White, Bright & Beautiful designer series paper
Other:  Basics #3 embossing folder, Linen Thread, Iridescent ribbon, Gems

Now for CR #173 - we FINALLY got paper clip as a parameter!!  I've been patiently waiting for paper clip.  Lots of cool ways to include paper clips.

Episode #173 parameters, and how I met them:
  • Project:  Window - I went with a shaker window card
  • Colors:  Bird Colors - pink & blkack
  • Element: By the Pond - Across the pond...I can see the Eiffel Tower.  It's a stretch.
  • Random: Paper Clip - BINGO!  I made a HIDDEN paper clip, that the recipient can re-use in a journal or mini book.
Use Loose Silver Sequins to make the shaker window.

Back side of the paper clip, so you can see how it is glued between the cardstock.   The largest end of the paper clip is inside.  Front is decorated with some scraps of the papers, a knot of ribbon, some black dots and words.

Paper Measurements:
  • Bubble Bath:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
  • Basic Black:  4" x 5 1/4"
  • Bright & Beautiful Designer series paper:  3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
  • Window Sheet:  3 3/4" x 3 3/4"
  • Basic White:  3 3/4" x 3 3/4", to stamp Eiffel Tower on
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4" for inside of card
  • Bubble Bath and DSP scraps:  to make paper clip flag
  • Vellum:  2 1/8" x 4" - stamp greeting and let it dry for a very long time.
