Happy Saturday Friends!
This week's video was inspired by Sharon L, who needed measurements for a landscape front step panel pop up card that I sent her last year for her birthday. Turns out I did not have the measurements written down, and that was the only one I made, so she had to give me the measurements so I could add them to my book. Sounds crazy, right? HAHA! But, it made me think - we could all use one resource with all the measurements together for both the portrait and landscape orientations. Then I thought - we have to have a square card, so I drew that out and here we are. I hope you find this useful!
Just a reminder that I am generally Live on-line every Thursday at 8:00pm ET. I am streaming to BOTH YouTube and Facebook simultaneously.
If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube. If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.
You'll need to watch the video for assembly, for all of these.
I started off with the Portrait version of the Front Step Panel Pop Up card. That's a mouth full! This is the most common version of this card that you'll see. An important tip when you're adding things that hang off your front panel - fold your card up, so that you don't stick anything down that will hang off the card. Your folded up card still needs to fit into your envelope.
Notice my largest butterfly - that's as high up as I could place it, so that it will still fold up and fit in my envelope. Sorry for the lousy lighting in this picture.
- Calypso Coral: 4 1/4" x 11", scored on the long side at 5 1/2", 6 3/4", 8 3/4", 10"
- Parakeet Party: 2 3/4" x 5 5/8", scored on the long side at 3/8", 1 5/8"
- Butterfly Kisses DSP (3 different prints): 4" x 5 1/4", 2 1/2" x 3 3/4", 1 3/4" x 4"
- Calypso Coral/Parakeet Party/Fresh Freesia: enough to die cut your butterflies
- Calypso Coral/Basic White: scraps to stamp and punch out ovals
Pay attention to any pattern directions when you are cutting your DSP pieces.
I die-cut two of each color butterfly and glued them together, to make them a little more sturdy. Ran Wink of Stella over them, and finished off with some Iridescent Rhinestones.
Stamps: Pick of the Crop (June 2022 Paper Pumpkin kit)
Ink: Parakeet Party
Paper: Calypso Coral, Parakeet Party, Fresh Freesia, Basic White, Butterfly Kisses DSP
Other: Brilliant Butterflies dies, Double Oval punch, Clear Wink of Stella, Iridescent Gems
Next up is our Landscape version of the Front Step Panel Pop Up Card. I really like this version, because you don't see it a lot. One thing I have not mentioned yet is that you might want to add a piece of Basic White or Very Vanilla to the back side of these cards, to write your message on.
Again, sorry for the lighting. I really wanted you to see the cards standing up, and my lights aren't suited for this. :( You get the idea though!
I tried to mimic the flowers in the designer series paper with the Flowers of Friendship stamp and punch. I stamped in Petal Pink ink, on Basic White cardstock and punched out. Ink blend more Petal Pink around all the edges to give more color to those flowers.
Paper measurements:
- Night of Navy: 5 1/2" x 9 1/4", scored on the long side at 4 1/4", 5 1/2", 7 1/2", 8 3/4"
- Petal Pink: 4" x 4 1/4", scored on the SHORT side at 2 1/2" x 3 3/4"
- Regency Park Designer series paper (3 prints): 4" x 5 1/4", 2 1/4" x 4", 1 3/4" x 5 1/4" (again - pay attention to direction of patterns here)
- Night of Navy/Petal Pink: scraps to stamp/punch out greeting and layer
- Basic White: scraps to stamp/punch out flowers
I popped up the greeting and all of the flowers.
Finish off with some Opal Rounds.
Stamps: Flowers of Friendship
Ink: Petal Pink, Night of Navy
Paper: Night of Navy, Petal Pink, Basic White, Regency Park Designer series paper
Other: Decorative Circle punch, 2" circle punch, Flowers & Leaves punch, Opal Rounds
My last card was hot off the presses - a SQUARE Front Step Panel Pop Up Card. I came up with these measurements myself, and this was my first attempt. Not to bad! I purposely left a greeting off of this card, because I'm not sure what I'll use it for. I think it will be perfect for a wedding, anniversary, shower of any kind, or even a birthday. I also left the flowers uncolored, so that I can customize it for the occasion when I'm ready to use it.
This is a 5 1/2" square card, and will need a custom envelope. Link to another video where I show you three different ways to make square envelopes.
Paper Measurements:
- Early Espresso: 5 1/2" x 11", score on the long side at 5 1/2", 6 3/4", 9 3/8", 10 5/8"
- Early Espresso: 3 1/2" x 5 1/8", score on the long side at 3 1/2", 4 3/4"
- Abigail Rose Designer Series paper (3 prints): 5 1/4" x 5 1/4", 3 1/4" x 3 1/4", 2 1/4" x 5 1/4"
- Abigail Rose Designer Series paper: cut out one of the flower bunches
I did not add any doo-dads either, because again...not sure what occasion I will use it for. I think having the measurements is enough to get you going. I LOVE square cards....and another size for one of these square cards just popped into my brain.
