March 2023 Virtual Workshop - Queen Bee!

Happy Saturday Crafty Friends!

I had a great time presenting my February 2023 Virtual Workshop on Thursday night.  I had to change out all of the projects at the VERY last minute, but it all worked out in the end.  I was originally going to feature the Queen Bee bundle this month, but those dies are not available until the end of March now....so Plan B!  I just switched my February and March workshop plans.

Feel free to copy my ideas using any sealife or sea critter items you may already have.  You're really not even tied down to sealife themes, except for the fourth card.  You'll see...

Check out my Workshop of the Month page for details about my workshop - ordering and freebie info.

Just a reminder that I am generally Live on-line every Thursday at 8:00pm ET.  I am streaming to BOTH YouTube and Facebook simultaneously.

If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube.  If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.

First project is a bright, fun floral bee card!  I die cut the bee body out of some floral paper to get a lot of color and tie in with some flower accents.

Paper measurements:
  • Daffodil Delight:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4"
  • Daffodil Delight:  4" x 5 1/4", embossed with Basics #2 folder
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Basic White/Vellum/Pale Papaya/Flirty Flamingo/Melon Mambo:  scraps to die-cut bee, wings, flowers, and label
Add a little White Glittered organdy ribbon and some of the white dots.

Stamps:  Queen Bee bundle
Ink:  Granny Apple Green
Paper: Daffodil Delight, Basic White, Vellum, Pale Papaya, Flirty Flamingo, Melon Mambo, Hues of Happiness Designer Series paper
Other:  White Glittered Organdy Ribbon, Basics embossing folders, Enamel Dot Essentials

Second project has a vintage flair to it.  Lots of ink blending with Crumb Cake and Soft Suede, plus a scrap of lace trim and a mini bulb pin.  HINT:  Color the silver mini bulb pin with a dark brown Stampin' Blend (or other alcohol marker).  Makes it look old and tetanus-shot worthy.  Just what we need for this project!

Paper measurements:
  • Crumb Cake:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4"
  • Mint Macaron:  4" x 5 1/4"
  • Country Gingham Designer series paper:  3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
  • Very Vanilla:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Mint Macaron:  3" x 3", to stamp/cut bee
  • Crumb Cake:  2 5/8" x 2 5/8"
  • Crumb Cake:  2 1/2' x 2 1/2", embossed with Basics #3 folder
  • Crumb Cake/Very Vanilla:  scraps to stamp/cut tag pieces
I would punch a hole in my layered Crumb Cake square to attach that pin to...I had to just glue mine one, since I had already stuck down my layers.

Stamps:  Queen Bee bundle
Ink:  Soft Suede, Crumb Cake
Paper:  Crumb Cake, Mint Macaron, Country Gingham designer series paper
Other:  Basics embossing folders, Lace trim, Mini bulb pin, Enamel Dot Essentials

My third project this month is a landscape Easel Card.  I like this version of an easel card.  Lots of embossing going on for this card - gold heat embossing, and two different embossing folders.  The Gold Shimmer paper is GORGEOUS!

Paper measurements for the Center Step cards:
  • Night of Navy:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4", and 2 1/8"
  • Night of Navy:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
  • Night of Navy:  4" x 5 1/4", embossed with Painted Textures folder
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Gold Shimmer:  (2) 2" x 2", embossed with Hive folder
  • Night of Navy:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2", notched corner to stamp/cut out bee and words
  • Basic White:  1/2" x 5 1/2"
  • Night of Navy:  3/4" x 5 1/2"
Stamp on the skinny strip of Basic White, and layer on the Night of Navy - pop up to hold your easel in place when it's open.

Card open and propped up.

Stamps:  Queen Bee bundle
Ink:  Night of Navy, Versamark
Paper:  Night of Navy, Basic White, Gold Shimmer
Other:  Painted Textures and Hive embossing folders, Metallics embossing powder (Gold), Enamel Dot Essentials

The fourth project is a pretty easy watercolor-background card made using Watercolor Pencils and an aqua painter.  Dry that with a heat tool, or let it dry overnight, and stamp the flowers in black ink.  Choose three of your favorite colors in the watercolor pencils to make your background.

Paper measurements:
  • Basic Black:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", folded in half at 4 1/4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Basic White:  3 3/4" x 5"
  • Watercolor paper:  3 1/2" x 4 3/4"
  • Basic Black/Basic White:  scraps for greeting - I added that after I made the card on camera.
Stamps:  Queen Bee Bundle, Artistically Inked
Ink:  Midnight (Catherine Pooler)
Paper:  Basic Black, Basic White, Watercolor
Other:  watercolor pencils, aqua painter, Enamel Dot Essentials

The LAST project is a Basic White Notecard with envelope.  I've got an embossed layer, and then a cut out bee and words.  I stamped and die cut the bee from Thick cardstock, then colored in with Stampin' Blends markers.  Finished off the bee with the Clear Wink of Stella marker all over it!

Paper measurements:
  • Basic White Notecard/Envelope:  3 1/2" x 5" finished
  • Basic White Thick:  3 3/8" x 4 7/8", embossed with Basics #1 folder
  • Basic White Thick:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2", notched corner to stamp/cut out bee and words
Stamps:  Queen Bee bundle
Ink:  Midnight (Catherine Pooler)
Paper:  Basic White Notecard with envelope, Basic White Thick
Other:  Stampin' Blends of your choice, Clear Wink of Stella

Remember - if you don't have the Queen Bee stamp set or bundle, you can make these cards using just about any other flying critter that you have.  Bees, Birds, Dragonflies...look through your stash!
