February 2023 Virtual Workshop - Seaside Bay

Happy Saturday Crafty Friends!

I had a great time presenting my February 2023 Virtual Workshop on Thursday night.  I had to change out all of the projects at the VERY last minute, but it all worked out in the end.  I was originally going to feature the Queen Bee bundle this month, but those dies are not available until the end of March now....so Plan B!  I just switched my February and March workshop plans.

Feel free to copy my ideas using any sealife or sea critter items you may already have.  You're really not even tied down to sealife themes, except for the fourth card.  You'll see...

Check out my Workshop of the Month page for details about my workshop - ordering and freebie info.

Just a reminder that I am generally Live on-line every Thursday at 8:00pm ET.  I am streaming to BOTH YouTube and Facebook simultaneously.

If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube.  If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.

First project is a RED crab card featuring some Country Gingham papers - so it's really Sweet Sorbet, but it looks red enough.  You can definitely swap out crabs for flowers or whatever else you might want to stamp and cut out for this card.  I've added a vellum layer, to bring a little more interest, and of course - using those Flat Backed Pearls.

You'll get a 6" x 6" piece of the Country Gingham papers in your make-n-take packet.  I used the cut offs to add to my envelope flap, and to the inside of my card.

Paper measurements:
  • Sweet Sorbet:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
  • Country Gingham Designer series paper:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Vellum:  3 3/4" x 5", came from Lovely Layers Vellum pack
  • Basic White:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2", notched corner to stamp and cut crabs and greeting
Stamp and die-cut the crabs, and pop one or two of them up.

Finished off with some Flat-Backed Pearls.  I hit the crabs with a little Wink of Stella too.

Stamps:  Seasise Bay bundle, Go To Greetings
Ink:  Sweet Sorbet, Midnight (Catherine Pooler)
Paper: Sweet Sorbet, Basic White, Country Gingham Designs Designer series paper, Lovely Layers Vellum
Other:  Clear Wink of Stella brush, Flat Pearls

Second project features a design that I really love.  This one is perfect for using little scraps of papers that you may have laying around.  Hard to tell from the picture, but the card base is Night of Navy, with a Balmy Blue layer.

Mount your designer series papers and white to the smallest piece of Balmy Blue, which then layers on to the larger piece of Balmy Blue.

Paper measurements:
  • Night of Navy:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4"
  • Balmy Blue:  4" x 5 1/4"
  • Balmy Blue:  3 3/4" x 5"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • By the Bay Designer Series paper:  (3) 1 7/8" x 2 1/2" - pay attention to the direction of your patterns.
  • Basic White:  1 7/8" x 2 1/2"
  • Basic White:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2", notched corner to stamp/cut sea life creatures

Again, finish off with some Flat Pearls.

Stamps:  Seaside Bay Bundle, Go To Greetings
Ink:  Night of Navy, Crumb Cake, Petal Pink
Paper:  Night of Navy, Balmy Blue, Basic White, Seaside Bay designer series paper
Other:  Flat-Backed Pearls

My third project this month features ink blending to create a horizon - beach, water, sky and then stamp some of the sand pipers on the beach.  Layer that onto a piece of Crumb Cake embossed with the Cane Weave folder, with ink blended edges to make that stand out a little more.

Paper measurements for the Center Step cards:
  • Crumbe Cake:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
  • Crumb Cake:  4" x 5 1/2", embossed with Cane Weave folder
  • Very Vanilla:  3" x 5 1/2"

I tried to make sure my birds were all standing on the BEACH, as opposed to the water.

Finish off with some more Flat Pearls.  Nothing is popped up on this card, but you certainly could.

Stamps:  Seaside Bay Bundle, Go To Greetings
Ink:  Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Pool Party, Balmy Blue
Paper:  Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla
Other:  Cane Weave embossing folder, Flat-Backed Pearls

The fourth project is a Very Vanilla and Gold piece.  I LOVE vanilla-on-vanilla or white-on-white for a clean look.  Pair the Vanilla with Gold...and I think it's really spectacular.   Add a little bit of the By the Bay paper with gold foil accents, and gold emboss the greeting to tie that together.  Stamp and die cut some crab and shells in some FUN, BRIGHT colors!

Paper measurements:
  • Very Vanilla Thick:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", folded in half at 4 1/4"
  • Very Vanilla:  4 1/8" x 5 3/8", embossed with Shells folder
  • By the Bay Designer Series paper:  2" x 4"
  • Very Vanilla:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2", notched corner to stamp/cut out crab/shells/greeting
Stamps:  Seaside Bay bundle, Go To Greetings
Ink:  Versamark, Bermuda Bay, Polished Pink, Gorgeous Grape
Paper:  Very Vanilla (Thick and regular), Seaside Bay designer series papers
Other:  Shells embossing folder, Flat-Backed Pearls

The LAST project is a very simple Notecard with envelope.  Use your score board to make a nice frame on your card, and then add some very simple stamping.  I used only black ink on this card to stampt he greeting and bird.  I SHOULD HAVE stamped the bird first, for placement since it's the bigger image.  Live and learn.

Paper measurements:
  • Very Vanilla Notecard/Envelope:  3 1/2" x 5" finished
Stamps:  Seaside Bay bundle
Ink:  Midnight (Catherine Pooler)
Paper:  Very Vanilla Notecard with envelope
Other:  none

I hope you inspired to maybe drag out some other sealife images that you have.  Change up your papers, colors, etc.!
