Let's get to the cards!  Remember, these are all inspired by real lighthouses all across the country - of course, with my own creative interpretation.  :)

Let's look at the video and cards from Day 1 of class - click HERE if there is no video below.

"Ponce de Leon Inlet", Florida.  Our first card starts with ink blending this beautiful background.  I used (lightest to darkest) Balmy Blue, Pacific Point, and Starry Sky.  The Starry Sky definitely has a purple look to it, and I love that!  I ink blended first, keeping to the top 2/3 area of the layer.  Then add the grass, stamping in Old Olive - stamp some off, some full strength.  I like the straight line of that stamp to create a horizon.

Paper measurements:
  • Starry Sky:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4"
  • Basic Black:  4" x 5 1/4"
  • Shimmery White: 3 13/16" x 5 1/6"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Basic White:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2", notched corner for stamping/cutting lighthouse and greeting.
Finish off with several Navy Milky Dots.

Stamps:  Lighthouse Point bundle
Ink: Real Red, Tuxedo Black, Onyx (Versafine), Starry Sky, Pacific Point, Balmy Blue, Old Olive
Paper:  Starry Sky, Basic Black, Basic White
Other:  Double Oval punch, Milky Dots

"Big Sable Point Lighthouse", Michigan.  I love the background on this card.  These larger dots from one of the Basics embossing folders collection (available March 1st) stand out and are the perfect size for placing some Milky Dots on top.

Lighthouse die cut pieces are embossed with the Brick & Mortar folder, then turned over and ink blend/sponge some Smoky Slate on - just so it's not pristine white.  It needs to look like it's been outside for a bit.  I colored the glass panes at the top of the lighthouse with a Pool Party Stampin' Blend marker.

Paper measurements:
  • Coastal Cabana:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4"
  • Coastal Cabana:  4" x 5 1/4", embossed with Basics #3 folder
  • Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Basic White/Basic Black:  scraps to die cut lighthouse pieces and greeting label
Finished off with some clear Milky Dots.

Stamps:  Lighthouse Point bundle
Ink: Onyx (Versafine)
Paper:  Coastal Cabana, Basic White, Basic Black
Other:  Basics embossing folder, Brick & Mortar embossing folder, Milky Dots

"Loggerhead Lighthouse", Florida. This card draws attention with the By the Bay Designer Series paper providing a striking background scene. You can see the sky, beach, and water. Stamp the lighthouse OFF once in Gray Granite first, then ink up the top half of the stamp in Black and stamp over it. Really simple card, but a striking look.

Paper measurements:
  • Night of Navy: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4', for inside of card
  • Crumb Cake:  3 1/4" x 5 1/2"
  • By the Bay Designer Series paper:  3" x 5 1/2"
  • Basic White:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2", notched corner to stamp/cut lighthouse and greeting
Only the lighthouse is popped up.  Finish with some of the Navy Milky Dots.

Stamps:  Lighthouse Point bundle, Shaded Summer
Ink: Gray Granite, Tuxedo Black, Night of Navy
Paper:  Night of Navy, Crumb Cake, Basic White, By the Bay Designer Series Paper
Other:  Milky Dots

"White Shoal Lighhouse", Michigan.  The last card for Day 1 uses the lighthouse die cuts in Basic White and Real Red.  I sponged on some White Craft ink to make it look a little distressed and weathered.  Recognize this designer series paper?  It's Simply Marbelous from Sale-a-Bration...a year or two ago?  Looks like perfect clouds to me!

Paper measurements:
  • Balmy Blue: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4', for inside of card
  • Night of Navy:  3 1/4" x 5 1/2"
  • Simply Marbelous Designer Series paper:  3" x 5 1/2"
  • Basic White/Real Red:  scraps to die cut lighthouse bits and greeting label
Lighthouse and greeting are popped up.  Finish with some Clear Milky Dots

Stamps:  Lighthouse Point bundle
Ink: Night of Navy, White Craft
Paper:  Balmy Blue, Night of Navy, Basic White, Simply Marbelous Designer series paper
Other:  Milky Dots

Watch the video from Day 2 - click HERE if there is no video below.

"Bodie Island Lighthouse", Nags Head, North Carolina. I really wanted a black and white card, but I snuck in some yellow on this one.  :)  Leave it out if you want, but I like that little bit of light.  A circle of vellum behind the lighthouse breaks it up some, and gives it a little interest.  I should have put my lighthouse further down on the card...oh well!

I had to use a Basic Black Stampin' WRITE marker to ink up just those two bands on the lighthouse.

Paper measurements:
  • Basic Black: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4"
  • Basic White:  (2) 4" x 5 1/4", one for inside of card, one for layer
  • Penciled Prints Designer series paper:  3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
  • Vellum:  3" circle, cut with Stylish Shapes dies
  • Basic White:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2", notched corner to stamp/cut lighthouse/light/greeting
Lighthouse and light are popped up.  Finished off with some of the Mango Melody Milky Dots - they look yellow or gold, so they'll coordinate with a lot of shades!

Stamps:  Lighthouse Point bundle
Ink: Smoky Slate, Onyx (Versafine), Daffodil Delight
Paper:  Basic Black, Basic White, Vellum, Penciled PrintsDesigner series paper
Other:  Stylish Shapes dies, Clear Wink of Stella marker, Milky dots

"Cockspur Island Lighthouse", Georgia.  On this card, I wanted a different shade of blue, so I went with Bermuda Bay and the Painted Texture embossing folder.  In order to get the right look of the lighthouse, I embossed the white lighthouse and base pieces with the Basics #2 folder - it's a cross-hatch pattern, so I lined up my pieces to the lines were straight up/down and across.  Ink blend some Smoky Slate to give the lighthouse a little distressing.  I also trimmed part of the bottom off, although you really can't tell.

Paper measurements:
  • Bermuda Bay: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4"
  • Basic Black:  4" x 5 1/4"
  • Bermuda Bay:  3 7/8" x 5 1/8", embossed with Painted Texture folder
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Basic White/Basic Black:  scraps to die cut lighthouse pieces and greeting label
I added Clear Wink of Stella to the top of the lighthouse...creative license.  I'm 99.99999% sure the real lighthouse is not glittery up top.  :)

For these dots - I colored some of the Fresh Freesia Milky Dots with the Dark Bermuda Bay Stampin' Blend...Looks great!

Stamps:  Lighthouse Point bundle
Ink: Onyx Versafine, Smoky Slate
Paper:  Bermuda Bay, Basic Black, Basic White
Other:  Painted Texture embossing folder, Basics #2 embossing folder, Bermuda Bay Dark Stampin' Blend, Milky Dots

"Cape Hatteras Lighthouse", North Carolina.  This lighthouse is built with the dies.  Notice the interesting bottom of the lighthouse.  While it's not EXACTLY like the Cape Hatteras lighthouse, it's definitely inspired by it.

I stamped some clouds with white ink in the background, and ripped some Old Olive cardstock to make some "grass".  Now that I'm looking at this picture, I see that I stamped the greeting a little bit crooked.  Dang it!
Paper measurements:
  • Tahitian Tide: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4"
  • Tahitian Tide:  4" x 5 1/4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Old Olive:  3" x 4", to rip up for grass
  • Basic White/Basic Black/Crumb Cake, Real Red:  scraps to die cut lighthouse pieces and greeting label
Greeting and lighthouse are both popped up.  Finish with some Clear Milky Dots.

Stamps:  Shaded Summer
Ink:  Midnight (Catherine Pooler), White Craft
Paper:  Tahitian Tide, Basic White, Basic Black, Real Red, Crumb Cake, Old Olive
Other:  Lighthouse dies, Milky Dots

"West Quoddy Head Light", Maine.  Last card for this second session features a Balmy Blue embossed background - just for some interest.  Then the lighthouse is stamped off ONCE with Sahara Sand to give us the lighthouse base.  Then I took a Real Red Stampin' Write marker (NOT the Blends...no alcohol markers), and drew stripes across the stamp and colored the tippy top..huff on it and stamp it down.  I colored in the black catwalk piece with a black marker.

Paper measurements:
  • Real Red:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4"
  • Basic Black:  4" x 5 1/4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Balmy Blue:  3 7/8" x 5 1/8", embossed with Basics #1 folder (NEW item available March 1st)
  • Basic White:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2", notched corner to stamp/cut/punch lighthouse and greeting
Stamp a greeting and punch out with Lasting Label punch.  Lighthouse and greeting are popped up.  Finish with some of the Night of Navy Milky Dots.

Stamps:  Lighthouse Point bundle, Shaded Summer
Ink: Midnight (Catherine Pooler), Sahara Sand
Paper:  Real Red, Basic Black, Balmy Blue, Basic White
Other:  Lasting Label punch, Basics embossing folder, Milky Dots
