Christmas cards using old and new supplies

Greetings friends!

Today I'm sharing some Christmas cards that I made using some OLD and NEW supplies.  Old stamps and embossing folders, paired up with New stamps and designer series papers.

My first card features some hand-cut candy canes from the Sweetest Christmas designer series papers.  I've paired it with the greeting from Reindeer Greetings (OLD stamp set), and the Swirls & Curls embossing folder (old).

This design is also a good way to use up a lot of small bits of paper.  I cut these 1" x 3", and glued them down in different directions.  The greeting is also glued down flat, and the candy canes are popped up.

Paper measurements:
  • Sweet Sorbet:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4".
  • Sweet Sorbet:  4" x 5 1/4", embossed with Swirls and Curls folder
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Sweetest Christmas Designer Series paper:  (5 prints) 1" x 3", plus candy cane prints to hand-cut
  • Basic White:  1" x 5 1/4"
I finished off with some OLD Snowflake Splendor ribbon and some red/gold sparkly gems that I can't think of the name of right now.  :(

Stamps:  Reindeer Greetings
Ink:  Garden Green
Paper: Sweet Sorbet, Basic White, Sweetest Christmas Designer Series paper
Other: Snowflake Splendor ribbon, red/gold glittery gems

For my next batch, I'm still using the OLD Reindeer Greetings for the focal image, but I've paired it with "merry christmas" from the NEW Framed & Festive.  Old embossing folder is from Sizzix, and New-ish papers - Painted Christmas (which is on the Last Chance sale right now for only $4.80!!!).

Embossed background with a 2" strip of designer series paper down at the bottom.  Then the focal image stamped and layered with a coordinating color.

Notice how I ink-blended around the edges of the reindeer piece on these...forgot to do it on the red layered cards above!  Oops!

Paper measurements:
  • Shaded Spruce:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4".
  • Shaded Spruce  4" x 5 1/4", embossed with Adorned Tile folder (Sizzix)
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Painted Christmas Designer Series paper:  2" x 5 1/4"
  • Basic White:  3" x 3 1/4"
  • Early Espresso/Real Red:  3 3/16" x 3 7/16"

Again, I finished off with the glittery red/gold gems that I can't think of the name.

Tune in this coming Thursday for some "gifty" ideas.  These are usually small-ish things you can make to give out, or even sell at craft fairs.
