6" x 6" Mini Album Folio - Hello Harvest

Hi Crafty Peeps!

In last night's video tutorial, I made a 6" x 6" Mini Album/Folio.  Finished size is actually 6 1/4" x 6 1/4".  This is a perfect project in my book - it does not require 12" x 12" cardstock, and you could make one of these if you had 1/4 pack of papers (i.e. from a Paper Share).  I got the idea from Lulu Melon on YouTube, and only made a few changes to suit what I wanted.

Just a reminder that I am generally Live on-line every Thursday at 8:00pm ET.  I am streaming to both YouTube and Facebook simultaneously.

If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube.  If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.

Let's talk about what you'll need to make one of these Mini Albums:
  • (6) pieces of 8 1/2" x 11" for the base of the album.  I used Mossy Meadow
  • Designer Series paper of your choice. You should be fine with 1/4 pack.  I used Rustic Harvest.
  • Plenty of Tear & Tape (or scor-tape, or sticky strip) and liquid glue of your choice.
  • a few pieces of coordinating colored cardstock
  • magnets to keep things closed (affiliate link to the ones I use:  https://amzn.to/3b8p7Pk )
I started by cutting all of my base pieces from the (6) sheets of Mossy Meadow.  You're going to have to watch the video for the step-by-step.  You want to cut the paper in a certain way, so that you get all of the pieces that you need from these (6) sheets.  This blog post is not a full written tutorial, just the basics.

After you cut all that, you assemble the base of the book.  It's a tri-fold album, so I'll refer to things as Left, Center, and Right - meaning those panels.

Next, cut your DSP and extra cardstock bits next, and add them in to the panels.  Take care to attach your ribbon to the Front Cover, and Back Center panel before you add anything else - so that you can glue everything on top of the ribbon.

Open the book, and I added a piece of 6" x 6" DSP to the Left panel (contrary to what the pattern above says...I also left off the 1 1/4" x 6" strip of DSP).   Add the belly band.  I like it off-set.  You may want yours in the middle of the page.  It's up to you!  You can also see that I added a 6" x 6" piece of DSP to the back side of the Right panel.

Center panel holds a mini waterfall, with a top and bottom flap to enclose it.  I used Crushed Curry on those flaps.  The inside Right panel has some gate-fold flaps (kept closed with magnets as well).

This collage shows some of the different waterfall pieces.  I chose (5) different patterns of DSP, 4" x 6" and glued them to the waterfall pages.

Open the left gate to see the 6" x 6" piece of Cajun Craze cardstock inside.

Both gates open.  You could stamp on that center piece of cardstock if you want to add some interest.  I was happy with it plain, because I really don't know what pictures I'm putting in this yet.

Back cover shows the 6" x 6" piece of Mossy Meadow that I added, embossed with the Timeworn Type folder.

I had a lot of pumpkins, stems, and leaves already stamped and die-cut.  I'll use these as embellishments inside my album after I get the pictures added.  I don't like to doll up my albums a LOT on the insides until I add pictures.

Here's the front cover again - I actually finished the cover LAST.  I embossed a 3" x 3" piece of Soft Suede with the Falling Leaves folder, then dragged my Early Espresso ink pad over it and over the edges.  Mount that on Mossy Meadow.  Stamp, die-cut and build the pumpkin with leaves and stem.  I stamped that pumpkin on Pumpkin Pie cardstock, using Cajun Craze ink.  Then I went over it with Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blends.  Finish off with some Metallic dots (the bronze looking ones).

Stamps:  Hello Harvest bundle
Ink:  Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, Mossy Meadow, Early Espresso, Versamark
Paper:  Mossy Meadow, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, Soft Suede, Rustic Harvest Designer Series Papers
Other:  Timeworn Type embossing folder, Falling Leaf embossing folder, Old Olive & Sahara Sand Twill Ribbon Combo pack, Brushed Metallic Adhesive Backed Dots, Stampin' Blends (Pumpkin, Daffodil, Cajun, Old Olive, Mocha, SU300)

BONUS - I had put up a poll last week to decide which papers I would use in my live - Rustic Harvest won, but the other choice was the Black & White Prints (which are in with the Hallween products in the Jul-Dec catalog).  I made this beforehand just to show the different possibilities.

ALL of the DSP pieces in this album were colored on, or ink blended to make them colored.

My front cover features the Witches Hat bundle, and stamps from the Sep 2022 Paper Pumpkin kit (the Halloween one).  Wink of Stella all over that hat makes it good and shimmery!  I also used Stampin' Blends to color in the harlequin patterns.

From top to bottom, the colors I used (light and dark shades) are:  Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Highland Heather, Mango Melody, Parakeet Party, Daffodil Delight

I used the same base page cutting guide.  This time I used Basic Black for my base.

This shows the Left panel featuring Parakeet Party, and a layered belly band.  The outside Right panel is Daffodil Delight.  I ink-blended over that entire piece of DSP.

Open that right side up and I've got my Center panel with a Mango Melody waterfall enclosure.  I added a little tab to pull that top flap up.  The inside Right panel has my gate panels.  I ink blended those with Gorgeous Grape on the bottom, and Highland Heather up top to get that variegated look.

Open the waterfall flaps, and you can see I stamped ghosts on the bottom flap.  You can also see my top waterfall piece.  I ink blended the stars dsp with Pumpkin Pie, Mango Melody, and Daffodil Delight to get a candy-corn effect.

Waterfall pages - again, these are all inkblended on the black/white print DSP pieces.  From left, going around clock-wise, I've got Parakeet Party, Gorgeous Grape, Pumpkin Pie (sorry, blurry), Daffodil Delight.

Our gatefold flaps closed - again, I added a little tab to help open one of the doors.  This is an oldie but goodie Round-Tab punch.

Inside our gates, I've got a layer of Pumpkin Pie that I hand-drew some plaids on with a marker.  Then I added some grey/black prints.  The Black & White prints papers are all black/white on one side, then black/grey on the other side - both with the same pattern.
