Sweet Talk Tri-Fold Card Folio - WOW!!!

WOW!!!  I think you're going to love this Tri-Fold Card Folio!  I made this Thursday night.  I used ONE piece of 12" x 12" Real Red cardstock for the BASE of the folio.  A few sheets of other colors for my layers.  I'm still happily using my Sweet Talk Designer Series papers and Sweet Conversations stamps.

Now don't let the name fool you.  This does not have to be just a card.  Any "folio" can be whatever you want - a card, a journal, a mini scrapbook, or my favorite - a combination of any/all of these things!  You can put whatever you want in here!  It's a neat little "book" with interesting flips and panels.

Notice that mine says "Happy Birthday"!  Not Valentine's...which is totally the theme.  This one is for my friend Ann, whose birthday happens to be on Valentine's Day.  I'm going to fill it with some writing (I haven't seen her in a loooooong time), maybe some pictures of us together, and who knows what else.

I am going to give you the measurements for EVERY panel, flip, and pocket that makes up this Tri-Fold Folio.  You may still need to watch the video, at least for the initial cutting, scoring, and assembly of the base.

Finished size is 5" x 7"...that's pretty big!

Just a reminder that as of now, I normally go Live every Thursday at 8:00pm ET.   I am streaming to BOTH YouTube and Facebook at the same time!  Pretty cool!

If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube.  If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.

First thing you have to do is cut your ONE piece of 12" x 12" Real Red cardstock.  Remember this folio is 5" x 7" finished size.  You'll have (3) pieces:
  • Cut at 7", so you have a 7" x 12" piece.  Score across the 12" side at:  4", 4 1/4", 9 1/4", 9 1/2".
  • Take the 5" strip left over, and cut a piece that is 5" x 7".  This will make a pocket.
  • Take the bit that's left over from THAT, and cut a piece down to 3 5/8" x 4 1/8" (this will be our flip).   Score on the 3 5/8" side at 1/2".
That's it for the base pieces.  Now the tricky part is figuring out which patterns you want to go where.

As I'm walking through pictures and giving paper measurements, I'm not necessarily going in the same order that I went through in the video.  I'm trying, but no guarantees!  I've tried to at least call them the same thing.  i.e. Front Cover/Flap...Middle Front/Inside.  I'm sorry if it might be confusing.

Front Cover/Flap.  We are covering both sides of this flap.  IGNORE the focal point panel that has all the hearts and greeting on it for now.  I did that LAST, so we'll come back to this picture.

Paper measurements:
  • Highland Heather: 3 7/8" x 6 7/8"
  • Large-ish multi-color heart print:  3 3/4" x 6 3/4"

Front Cover/Inside & FLIP:  Open the folio, and you see that we're adding the FLIP to the back side of this Front cover/panel flap.  You'll want to glue in the FLIP first, before you glue down the cardstock and dsp.

FLIP Paper measurements:
  • Petal Pink and White: 3" x 4"   Petal Pink is for the front, White is for the back side of the flip
  • Candy box and conversation hearts print:  2 7/8" x 3 7/8"
Paper measurements:
  • Blushing Bride: 3 7/8" x 6 7/8"
  • Red & Pink lollipops print:  3 3/4" x 6 3/4"

Inside Middle:  I may have called this the Middle Front in the video.  This is the very middle of the book.  I've got a belly band, and a layered card tucked in.

Paper measurements:
  • Highland Heather: 4 7/8" x 6 7/8"
  • Red/Pink/Purple rows of hearts print:  4 3/4" x 6 3/4"
  • Highland Heather Belly Band:  1 1/2" x 4 7/8"
Layered Card insert measurements:
  • Petal Pink: 4" x 6"
  • Basic White: 3 3/4" x 5 3/4"
Back Cover/Flap:  Definitely go to the video to see how I attached the 5" x 7" Back Cover piece of Real Red to make the pocket, and then adding the layers of color cardstock and designer series papers.

Pocket paper measurements:
  • Blushing Bride: 2 3/8" x 6 7/8"
  • Multi-color Stripes print: 2 1/4" x 6 3/4"

Behind the pocket (right side in picture above):  In order to save paper, we don't need to carry this layer across the entire 5" x 7" piece of Real Red.  We only need to have it go far enough behind the pocket to hide the end.
  • Blushing Bride: 3" x 6 7/8"
  • Red/Blushing Bride hearts print: 2 7/8" x 6 3/4"
Back Cover Outer (on the back of the pocket page):  This Back Cover folds in, and the purple stripes layer is the back side of the pocket page.

Paper measurements:
  • Highland Heather: 4 7/8" x 6 7/8"
  • Purple Stripes print: 4 3/4" x 6 3/4"

Middle Back:  This is the side that the folio will lay on the table on.  This is truly the "back".  You'll want to attach your ribbons FIRST, before you add these layers. I stamped hearts and xo's randomly in Real Red ink.

Paper measurements:
  • Blushing Bride: 4 7/8" x 6 7/8"
  • stamped Real Red: 4 3/4" x 6 3/4"

Now, let's go back to the very front for the decorative focal panel.  It's really only two layers, and then add a bunch of die cut hearts and the greeting to it.  Most everything is popped up with dimensionals.  notice the ribbon come around and is attached to the front cover underneath the focal panel.

Paper measurements:
  • Real Red: 3 1/8" x 4 1/8"
  • Purple words print: 3" x 4"

Hearts are all covered with the Wink of Stella shimmer marker!  Finished off with some of the beautiful new Iridescent Rhinestones.
