Non-traditional Christmas Color Challenge - Purple Snowflakes

I absolutely love non-traditional colors for Christmas cards!  Pinks and purples are some of my favorites!  I made these cards for the November Card Challenge over in the Unity {Show & Tell} Facebook group - there's a lot of great inspiration in the album already!

The color choice started by me looking over at my stack of Distress Oxide Ink pads...I've had a bunch of these for a few years now, and have hardly used them!  Wilted Violet it was!  I also had a carousel full of new blending brushes from Catherine Pooler...bought those maybe 2 years ago, and never put ink on them.  Fixed that situation too!

I had ONE 6" x 6" piece of a gray flannel print paper, so I cut it up and got to ink blending the edges.  Then I decided to stamp the snowflakes directly on it.  The distress Oxide ink is interesting - it looks chalky when it dries.  I decided that wasn't enough purple, so I needed layers.  Luckily, my Gorgeous Grape cardstock is a really good match with this Wilted Violet ink color.

I embossed a layer with a snowflake folder, and then swiped Whisper White Craft ink over top of the raised up bits...let that dry.

Then I decided that I needed a single snowflake stamped, embossed in white, and cut out.  So I did that.  Then it needed sparkle, so I covered it in Wink of Stella.  Loving it....

Ribbons.  I wanted MORE stuff on the card, so I pawed through my ribbons and found two different ones to use together.   Cut them both in half vertically, so they are skinnier strips.   I attached the ribbons differently on each card, but the layouts are the same.

My final piece was the greetings - I stamped in White Craft ink, and THOUGHT I was embossing with white embossing powder.  Turns out I grabbed my Heat & Stick powder, but I'm generally not interested in doing things over...so I went with it.  Decided that I had to add Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the greeting.  The white ink is still visible, although fainter than the other.  It's good enough for a person!  AND I love the sparkliness of the greeting.

The greeting and the single snowflake are popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals and foam tape.

Added some gems for finishing touches!
