Hi Crafty Friends! This week I aired my June 2021 Virtual Workshop. This month's theme is "House Plants". I really enjoyed using some different products to create these projects. Workshop freebie for this month is a pack of the Paper Lattice!!! Click on my Workshop of the Month page for full details on that offer.
Just a reminder that I go Live on my Facebook Page every Thursday at 11:00am ET.
Paper measurements:
- Evening Evergreen: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored in half at 4 1/4"
- Cajun Craze: 4" x 5 1/4"
- Very Vanilla: 4" x 5 1/4" (for inside of card)
- Very Vanilla: 3 7/8" x 5 1/8", embossed with Brick & Mortar folder
- Very Vanilla: scrap to die-cut label
Use a blending brush to add some Cajun Craze ink to the Brick & Mortar embossed piece of Very Vanilla - just enough in random spots to give a little background color.
I cut one sheet of the Paper Lattice in half, and attached to the card front. This reminds me of a shelf, or room divider from the 70's. Then I hand-cut one of the plants from a piece of the Bloom Where You're Planted designer series papers. I don't have the stamps or dies for that product suite, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE what you can do with just the paper pack!
Stamp the greeting and pop that up, along with the plant. I finished off with some Genial Gems.
Stamps: Simply Succulents Bundle
Ink: Evening Evergreen, Cajun Craze
Paper: Evening Evergreen, Cajun Craze, Very Vanilla, Bloom Where You're Planted Designer series papers
Other: Paper Lattice, Brick & Mortar embossing folder, Genial Gems
The second project uses the other half of the Paper Lattice that we just cut up, along with some of the beautiful NEW Rose Gold specialty paper!
I wish my new Macrame embossing folder would have arrived in time for this project - my bad for not placing my order in time. I'm going to remake it with the Macrame folder and post a picture in a few days.
Paper measurements:
- Soft Succulent: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored in half at 4 1/4"
- Soft Succulent: 4" x 5 1/4", embossed with Tasteful Textiles folder
- Very Vanilla: 4" x 5 1/4" (for inside of card)
- Soft Succulent, Evening Evergreen, Fresh Freesia: scraps to die cut various plant pieces from the Potted Succulents dies
- Rose Gold: 1 1/2" x 2", die cut flower pot from Potted Succulents dies
- Very Vanilla: scrap to stamp and hand-cut greeting
For this card, you'll want to build a potted plant with several die-cuts. I started with the Rose Gold flower pot, and used Glue Dots to attach various plants to the back side.
Attach the Paper Lattice to the embossed card front, and then glue the potted plant piece directly on top of that. I could have popped that up, but decided against it. I did add some Wink of Stella just to the "aloe" plant. The sparkle doesn't show up in the picture, but it's there.
Stamp the greeting and pop that up. Notice that I ripped the ends of the greeting piece. That's just for interest...if you don't like it, don't do that! :)
Stamps: Simply Succulents Bundle
Ink: Evening Evergreen
Paper: Soft Succulent, Evening Evergreen, Fresh Freesia, Rose Gold, Very Vanilla
Other: Paper Lattice, Tasteful Textiles embossing folder
My third project shows another new product - the Basic Borders dies. These are great for making different edges to your projects.
Paper measurements:
- Very Vanilla Thick: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored in half at 4 1/4"
- Very Vanilla: 4" x 5 1/4"
- Very Vanilla: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2", notched corner to stamp and die cut flowers
- Cajun Craze: 1 1/2" x 2", die cut flower pot from Potted Succulents dies
- In Good Taste designer series paper: 2" x 5 1/4", die cut both edges with Basic Borders die (stitched zig zag pattern)
I stamped the flower outline image in Crumb Cake - stamped off once, to make it lighter. I wasn't necessarily going for the No-Line Coloring Technique, but I did want that outline to be very faint. Add in the Polished Pink flowers, and Soft Succulent leaves.
I had the opportunity to show you how to you can use a blender pen and an ink pad to color in (the stems of the flower), if you do NOT have a particular marker color. This comes in handy!
Die cut that flower bunch, and arrange behind the flower pot. Pop all of that up, and add a knot of the Polished Pink 3/8 Open Weave ribbon.
Stamp the greeting directly on the Very Vanilla before you pop that whole layer up on the card base.
Stamps: Hand-Penned Petals Bundle
Ink: Crumb Cake, Polished Pink, Soft Succulent, Early Espresso
Paper: Very Vanilla (thick and regular), Cajun Craze, In Good Taste designer series paper
Other: Potted Succulents dies, Basic Borders dies, Polished Pink 3/8" Open Weave ribbon, blender pen
Last, but not least - one of my favorite projects EVER...a covered mini notebook. I could decorate a notebook every week and be happy. :) I had these Mini Composition books in my stash - they're the perfect size for your glove compartment, tucked in a tote bag, or in your day planner.
Paper measurements:
- Well Suited designer series paper: (2) 3 1/8" x 4 1/2".
- Very Vanilla: scrap to stamp greeting
- Bloom Where You're Planted designer series paper: cut out one plant, and one pot.
This project was SUPER QUICK. I used liquid glue to cover the front and back sides of the mini composition book with the Well Suited designer series papers. Trim the corners, and then decorate the front!
I prefer to keep my note pads mostly FLAT, so nothing is popped up on this project. This is just a personal preference, so that nothing gets ripped off as I'm using it. If was to pop that potted plant up, it may get torn off just from every day wear and tear.
Stamps: Hand-Penned Petals
Ink: Cajun Craze
Paper: Very Vanilla, Well Suited designer series paper, Bloom Where You're Planted designer series paper
Other: mini composition notebook (Walmart)

This coming Thursday, I'll be making a Floating Triple Pocket. This is a really interesting piece that you can use tucked inside of a journal, tucked inside of your calendar, throw it in your tote bag to hold stuff...it's really cool! I think it's a great and useful project, even if you're not into the whole Traveler's Notebook craze. Truth: I am totally getting into the whole Traveler's Notebook and Junk Journal craze. I love all of the things!
Thanks for visiting, and Happy stamping!
