Box for the Mailable Mini Album

I know, I know!  I said it was MAILABLE!  And it is!  I just wanted to hand-deliver it to my mom, so I made a pretty box for it.

To refresh your memory, a week or so ago, I made this "Mailable Mini Album".  I decided that I was going to hand-deliver this beauty, so a BOX was needed.  I LOVE making boxes, and this was a quick project.

I designed a two-piece box to fit my Mailable Mini Album.  Finished box size is 4 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 1".

How did I make this???  Here's a pattern drawn out for you.  You'll need (2) pieces of 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock for your box.  I used Gorgeous Grape.

Remember that your box TOP/LID has to be a smidge bigger than your box BOTTOM.  I cut both pieces at 8 1/2" x 9 1/2", and then I cut off 1/16" from the bottom piece.  That's what 8 7/16" x 9 7/16" is...it's a 1/16" cut off the east/west side, and 1/16" cut off the north/south side.

You will score both pieces at 1" and 2" on all sides.  You can watch the first project in this video to see how to cut the flaps and assemble the box.  Same principal.

This picture shows the inside of the box TOP.  I like how crisp and neat these box sides are.

I'll show the box top picture again, so you can see the decorations.  I kept it pretty low-key.  Started with a doily in the center.  Then layered on a scalloped circle of Highland Heather, followed by a circle embossed with the Parisian Flourish folder.

Next I had a scrap left of the Hydrangea Hill designer series papers, so I put some Foam Adhesive sheet on the back side, and cut out the MOM letters with the Playful Alphabet dies.  Attach those, and then add some Pastel Pearls and a bow tied with the Gorgeous Grape ribbon.

BTW, MOM loved it!  :)  Use this box to hold whatever you want - it's a decent size.
