This is my third post for the Craft Roulette Challenge. Mary Gunn Funn runs Craft Roulette. Find her on YouTube, so you can catch her live show on Friday nights, or watch it later. #craftroulette
I created this Square Gate-fold card for Episode #59.
The parameters are:
- Project: Gate fold
- Colors: Pinks and black
- Element: Cat(s) or Dog(s)
- Random: Vellum
I love making unexpected size/shaped cards, so I decided on a SQUARE card for the Gate-fold parameter. This is a 5" x 5" square card, so it WILL need an extra .20 in postage when I mail it. It's worth it!
You can see here that I went with tone-on-tone Magenta Madness for most of the card. The only differences are the brushed silver frame, and the black cat and dots. I think it really stands out nicely!
Paper measurements:
- Magenta Madness: 5" x 10". Score on the long side at 2 1/2" and 7 1/2".
- Magenta Madness panels: 2 5/16" x 4 13/16" (the flaps to cover are 2 1/2" x 5", and I cut the panels down 3/16" to fit)
- Belly Band: 1" x 11"
- Magenta Madness square layers: 3 1/8" x 3 1/8", and 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"
- White (for inside of card): 4 13/16" x 4 13/16"
I embossed the side panels with the Parisian Flourish folder, and glued them down. Tape the piece of white INSIDE the card, before you wrap your belly band around and secure it with glue. Make sure your belly band is snug, but can still slide up and down.
Then I embossed the smaller square of Magenta Madness with the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder, and attached to the larger square. Lots of tone-on-tone! Add a vellum doily on top of that. Attach the whole layer to the belly band with some foam tape, or Stampin' Dimensionals.
The little "mirror" is an old piece of Brushed Silver cardstock, cut with the Ornate Frames dies. Then I punched two cats out of Basic Black. Emboss one with the Tin Tiles embossing folder, and then layer on the other punched out cat for stability. She is then attached to the front with some Black Stampin' Dimensionals.
I stamped the greeting in black, and trimmed down. That is also attached with some Stampin' Dimensionals.
Finish off with some Matte Black Dots, and In Color Enamel Dots!
These weekly challenges have been inspiring, and give me even MORE ideas of things that I can share with you all! I am definitely enjoying them, and so happy that I found them!
