Hi Crafty Friends! This week I aired my May 2021 Virtual Workshop. This month's theme is "May Flowers". I enjoyed using some NEW flower sets and dies, mixed in with some that I've had for a minute. I hope you enjoy them too!
Just a reminder that I go Live on my Facebook Page every Thursday at 11:00am ET.
Let's get started with the first card in the upper left hand corner of the group photo - the square card!
This is a 5" x 5" Square Gatefold card. I LOVE how this turned out! I was inspired to make this style card, from my submission to the Craft Roulette challenge last week. I made the same size and style of card, but entirely different colors and theme.
Since May's Workshop is all about the flowers, I brought out a new flower set - Hand-Penned. This is a really pretty set of flowers! Easy to color in with any coloring medium of your choice, or use the fill-in stamps to color the flowers. Easy peasy!
Paper measurements:
- Soft Seafoam: 5" x 10". Score on the long side at 2 1/2" and 7 1/2".
- Soft Seafoam panels: 2 3/8" x 4 7/8"
- Belly Band: 1 1/8" x 11"
- Soft Seafoam square layers: 3 1/3" x 3 1/3", and 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"
- White (for inside of card): 4 3/4" x 4 3/4"
- White - scrap piece to stamp flowers and greeting.
I started with assembling the Soft Seafoam base of the card. Fold in the "gates", and adhere panels embossed with the Parisian Flourish embossing folder. Attach the white square to the inside of the card. Then you'll close the card, and wrap/attach the belly band. You want the belly band snug, but still able to slide it on and off the card.
I've got (2) squares of Soft Seafoam - the smaller one is embossed with the Brick & Mortar embossing folder. Layer those, and glue a vellum doily on top. Attach that entire square layered panel piece to your belly band.
Then it's just a matter of stamping and die-cutting the flowers. Stamp and cut the greeting. Attach those, and finish off with some Elegant Faceted Gems.
Stamps: Hand-Penned Bundle (stamps and dies)
Ink: Soft Seafoam, Petal Pink, Onyx (Versafine)
Paper: Soft Seafoam, White
Other: Parisian Flourish and Brick & Mortar embossing folders, Vellum Doily, Elegant Faceted Gems
Next up is a card using another new bundle - Quiet Meadow. I really like the solid floral dies that go with this stamp set! The background on this card is the Stacked Stone stamp. I like it, but it is easily substituted for any background stamp you have.
Paper measurements:
- Basic Black: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored in half at 4 1/4".
- Gray Granite: 4" x 5 1/4"
- White: 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
- White: 4" x 5 1/4" (for inside of card)
- Polished Pink/Basic Black/Gray Granite - 1/2 sheet each (5 1/2" x 8 1/2"), used with all (6) flower dies at once. Choose (3) to work with.
- White: scrap to stamp and hand-cut greeting
Start off this card by stamping the Stacked Stone Background stamp on the White panel. I used Tuxedo Black Memento ink, and stamped off ONCE to get a lighter shade. If I were to make this again, I would stamp off TWICE, so it's even lighter.
Then stamp the row of words, splatters, and long-stemmed flower from Quiet Meadow in black ink all over the Stacked Stone piece. Attach to the Gray Granite layer.
Choose your (3) floral die-cuts, and glue on to the card front. Stamp and cut out your greeting. Tie a knot of Polished Pink ribbon, and attach with a glue dot or two. Attach this panel to your Basic Black card base.
Finish off with some basic Rhinestones - just a little something to sparkle.
Stamps: Quiet Meadow (stamps and dies), Stacked Stone
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Paper: Basic Black, Gray Granite, Polished Pink, White
Other: Polished Pink 3/8" Open Weave ribbon, Basic Rhinestones
My third project did not go according to plan...it happens sometimes. :( I wanted to show how you can use markers on the photopolymer stamps, adding Versamark ink to it. Sometimes the ink from your markers doesn't want to stick to the photopolymer stamps, so I stamp it in Versamark first, then add color with the markers - the Versamark gives it something to "grab" onto....if you want the video, you can see that it didn't work as expected. That's my life sometimes!
This project is a 3" x 6" tag. You can use this as a bookmark, put it in a journal, use it as a page marker in a notebook, hang it off of a gift bag, write on the back and send to a friend...whatever you want!
Paper measurements:
- Crumb Cake: 3" x 6"
- Crumb Cake: 2 3/4" x 5 3/4"
- White: 2 1/2" x 3 1/2"
- White: 1/2 sheet (5 1/2" x 8 1/2")
I started by embossing the smaller Crumb Cake layer with the Brick & Mortar embossing folder. Adhere that on to the larger Crumb Cake layer as your tag base. I stapled on some ribbon to the end at this point.
Stamp your greeting on the white panel, cut out with the Tasteful Labels dies. Attach that, flat, to the tag. The only things that I popped up were the flowers.
Next I stamped and die-cut all of the flowers and leaves. You can stamp these outright, but like I said - I was trying to show a technique using Versamark ink and markers...didn't work out as planned.
Attach all of the flowers, and finish off with some Champagne Rhinestones.
Stamps: Pretty Perennials bundle, Happy Thoughts
Ink: Onyx (Versafine), Versamark
Paper: Crumb Cake, White
Other: Tasteful Labels dies, Brick & Mortar embossing folder, Embroidered Ribbon, Markers (Magenta Madness, Bumble Bee, Just Jade), Champagne Rhinestones
Lastly, I wanted to use just the floral die-cut from the Art Gallery bundle to color in flowers with Stampin' Blends, instead of just stamping them. Just a different look. I also used a new set of dies - Basic Borders! I'm going to enjoy using these dies to make interesting edges!
Paper measurements:
- Flirty Flamingo: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored in half at 4 1/4"
- Flirty Flamingo: 5 1/2" x 4"
- White - 3" x 4, cut with label from Tasteful Labels dies
- White - 4 1/4" x 5 1/2", die cut flower bunch, and scalloped rectangle
- White - 4" x 5 1/4" (for inside of card)
On this card, I had embossed the Flirty Flamingo panel with the Tasteful Textiles folder, and then die-cut the edge with one of the Basic Borders dies. Glue that to the Flirty Flamingo card base.
Adhere the white label to the card front. I glued it down flat, but you could certainly pop it up.
Next I colored the flower bunch die-cut using Stampin' Blends markers. Attach that to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals, and add a bow made with the Very Vanilla Scalloped Lace trim.
Finish by stamping the greeting in Mint Macaron and popping it up. Add a few Basic Pearls!
Stamps: Art Gallery bundle
Ink: Mint Macaron
Paper: Flirty Flamingo, White
Other: Basic Borders dies, Tasteful Textiles embossing folder, Very Vanilla 3/8" Scalloped Lace Trim, Stampin' Blends (Flirty Flamingo and Mint Macaron), Basic Pearls
WHEW! That's a lot of typing. I hope you enjoyed these projects!
