Things with Wings!

Hi friends!  Today I demonstrated a few different cards featuring "Things with Wings".  Specifically, butterflies and dragonflies!  I am love with the Butterfly Bijou papers that are available now, an I had fun using them to make slim line AND MINI slim line cards!  Both of these card sizes are fun to work with....something different.

Just a reminder that I go Live on my Facebook Page every Thursday at 11:00am ET.

If you were not able to catch me live, you can still watch it on my Demonstrator Page later, OR on YouTube.  If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.

I used the Butterfly Bouquet and Dragonfly Garden bundles today.  You can obviously use them separately, but they also pair very nicely together as you'll see.  I also used the Happy Thoughts stamp set on all (3) cards.

First up, I made a SLIM LINE card.  Slim line cards are a really great size - it's a lot of real estate to add things, and lots of room inside for writing.  I really enjoy making these style cards.  I make my slim line cards 3 1/2" x 8 1/2" finished.  (Just a reminder - cardstock measurements for all my cards are available in the Description section of my YouTube video.  Please go there, and subscribe so you don't miss anything!)

I used ONE sheet of the 6" x 6" Butterfly Bijou papers to make both of these cards.  That's why I used Bermuda Bay and Magenta Madness for both cards - but opposite pieces.   I absolutely love them both.

I stamped the Butterfly Brilliance stamp (it's a single background size stamp), on White paper and then used my blending brushes to add color with Bermuda Bay and Magenta Madness.  I really love these colors together.

The designer series paper is only 6" long, so I added a small piece of White at the bottom.  I embossed that with the Tin Tile folder, and again added color with my blending brushes.

Here's a close-up.  Notice that I used two different kinds of ribbons together.  I like the different widths and textures from both ribbons.  For the Bermuda Bay card, I didn't have any Bermuda Bay ribbon so I had to color some Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding with a Bermuda Bay dark Stampin' Blend marker.

I finsihed off with some Opal Rounds.  These sparkly gems go perfectly with just about any project!

Stamps:  Butterfly Bouquet bundle, Happy Thoughts
Ink: Midnight (Catherine Pooler), Magenta Madness, Bermuda Bay
Paper:  Magenta Madness, Bermuda Bay, White, Butterfly Bijou designer series paper
Other:  Opal Rounds, Double Oval punch, blending brushes, Magenta Madness 1/4" ribbon, Whisper White 1/8" sating ribbon (retired), Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding.

Next, I went to the Dragonfly Garden bundle and used one of the Flowers for Every Season Memories and More Cards and Envelopes.  This set of cards and envelopes has been one of my favorites since the start of this annual catalog - they are all in the 2021-2022 In Colors (Just Jade, Bumble Bee, Cinnamon Cider, Magenta Madness, and Misty Moonlight).

I added a layer of Misty Moonglight, along with some of the Flowers for Every Season designer series papers.  I also added a circle of the Natural Touch specialty papers (die cut with the Stitched Shapes dies), and some Misty Moonlight ribbon.

Dragonflies are popped up, and I added some In Color Enamel Dots to them.

Stamps:  Dragonfly Garden bundle, Happy Thoughts
Ink: Midnight (Catherine Pooler), Misty Moonlight, Bumble Bee, Magenta Madness
Paper:  Flowers for Every Season Memories and More Cards/Envelopes AND designer series paper, Misty Moonlight, White, Natural Touch specialty paper
Other:  Stitched Shapes dies, Misty Moonlight 1/4" ribbon, In Color Enamel Dots.

My final card for today is a MINI Slim Line card.  Yes, MINI.  My finished Mini slim line card size is 3 1/4" x 6 1/4", and that is driven by the No. 9 Coin Envelopes that I found on Amazon.  I've also seen people make mini slim line cards to be 3" x 6" finished.  It's up to you - there are no real rules here...it's your card!

These card bases are Calypso Coral.  I also used So Saffron - these color choices came directly from the piece of Butterfly Bijou designer series paper that I used.

I used BOTH the butterflies and dragonflies on these cards, and you can see how well they work together.  Nice!  Notice I used Clear & Frosted Epoxy Droplets on one card, and Black Matte dots on another.  I think I like the black dots better...I think they pop better.

I also did a little stamping on the insides.  I stamped in So Saffron on the outside and inside of my prototypes, and I think it just got a little lost, so I switched to Calypso Coral for the card I demonstrated live.  I like that better!  I do love them both, but the Calypso stands out more.

Stamps:  Butterfly Bouquet bundle, Dragonfly Garden bundle, Happy Thoughts
Ink: Midnight (Catherine Pooler), Calypso Coral, So Saffron
Paper:  Calypso Coral, So Saffron, White, Butterfly Bijou 6"x6" designer series paper
Other:  Story Label punch, Calypso Coral Satin ribbon (retired), Clear & Frosted Epoxy droplets, Black Matte enamel dots, stapler

I hope you have enjoyed my cards for today.  Drag out whatever "Things with Wings" products you have and make something!

Last minute plug for Stamping Good Times' Spring 2021 Mega Camp!  My friend, Gail, and I have collaborated on a HUGE all-day event for you!  We're having (3) classes throughout the day, along with a couple of demonstrations in between, and an optional add-on class featuring the True Love papers.  Get all the info on our Facebook Event here:  https://www.facebook.com/events/2922127758031493

You don't have to be present on the day of class, which is Sunday April 18th.  You'll be able to watch the videos later, and of course the PDFs will be available too.  We're using a private Facebook Group as our platform for the event.  Join us!!!  We're so looking forward to this adventure!
Next Thursday, I'll be working with Hydrangeas.

Thanks for visiting, and Happy stamping!
