You may recall my blog post and video from last week, showing how to make different sizes of "Book Boxes". I made two different sizes, and during my Facebook live someone asked me to figure out a box that would hold Notecards and Envelopes. Well here it is!!!
You should scroll through the video to see how the box assembly goes. In this post, I will just give you some pictures AND the measurements so you can make this size book box. This shows you the inside of the box part, with Notecard size envelopes. A perfect fit!
So do you get there? Start by making the box itself.
Cardstock: 8" x 9 1/2". Score EACH side at 1" and 2".
Cut each corner so it looks like this:
Here's what the entire sheet should look like at the end. This is the point where you'll need to refer back to the video to see how to assemble.
Next, let's make the Book Cover part.
Cardstock: 6" x 9 1/2". Score across the long side at 4 1/4", and 5 1/4".
Again, refer to the video for assembly. You'll be gluing the box inside the bottom book cover page.
To decorate the top and bottom of the book covers, I used:
Pretty Peacock: 4" x 5 3/4" (2 pieces)
Whale of a Time DSP: 3 7/8" x 5 5/8" (2 pieces)
I wrapped my ribbon around the box before I added these decorative layers. I didn't get the ribbon centered, but this picture is a little misleading - it's not THAT FAR off center. :)
I glued the decorate layer on to the bottom book cover, and popped the top layer on with some foam tape.
Let's have another look at the finished top -
I stamped the greeting in black ink, and cut out with a die. Stamp the whale and turtle on white. Punch the whale out, and hand-cut the turtle. Then I ink blended Pool Party around the greeting die-cut and the whale. I don't know why I didn't do it on the turtle too....oh well!
The greeting layer is glued flat, and then the turtle and whale are popped up. Finish with some Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems.
I'm really having fun with these Book Boxes, and I hope you like them as well!
Supplies you'll need to create these (Stampin' Up, unless otherwise noted. Items may be retired.):
Stamps: Whale Done, Happy Thoughts
Ink: Midnight (Catherine Pooler), Pretty Peacock, Granny Apple Green, Pool Party
Paper: Pretty Peacock, White, Whale of a Time designer series paper
Other: Whale punch, Tasteful Labels dies, Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems, Snowflake Splendor ribbon
