Valentines Ideas

I figured it was about time to work on some Valentine's, so that was my plan for this week's video.  Honestly, I ran out of time this week, and I didn't have time to finish all of my normal preparations pre-video - having the sample already made, and everything cut....so BONUS for this week!  You get to see my process of designing cards, and prepare.  I had SOME things cut and embossed, but not all of it.

Just a reminder that I go Live on my Facebook Page every Thursday at 11:00am ET.

If you did not catch me live, you can still watch it on my Demonstrator Page later, OR on YouTube.  If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.

For those of you not into videos, I'll give a brief description of what I did for each project.   All of the paper cutting measurements are provided in the description of the YouTube video.

The first card is probably my favorite out of these three.  I love something out of the box, and unexpected.  I wanted to use the Whale of a Time set and punch, along with PINK and RED.  In this case, Magenta Madness and Real Red.  I absolutely love these colors together!

The Magenta Madness is embossed with the Seabed folder.   Add a heart cut out of vellum, and wrap the end of it around the edge of the card (helps to secure it).  Add a punched out whale, and stamp/hand-cut the greeting.  I added both Red and regular rhinestones to finish.

Stamps:  Whale of a Time
Ink:  Tuxedo Black
Paper:  Real Red, Magenta Madness, Basic Black, White, Vellum
Other:  Seabed embossing folder, Stitched Be Mine dies, Whale builder punch, Basic Rhinestones, Red Rhinestones

Next up, I really wanted to use the Playful Alphabet dies to make a card.  My first thought was to cut out XOXO, but I also wanted this square pattern - and the X's and O's would not have lined up the way I wanted.  So I changed my plan to cut out LOVE.  If you watch the video, you'll see my debacle in cutting the letters out.  :(   I re-made part of the card for these pictures.

Start out with a square of Foam Adhesive, and add some squares of card stock to it...keep them even and totally cover the square.  Then cut your letters out - I did save the letters that I pulled out, and I'll use those on another card.  Attach that die-cut square to a Stitched Square shape, and then mount on to some Magenta Madness.

While I was die-cutting the letters, I also ran the "you" through with Black card stock (adhesive SHEET, not foam) attached to the back before die-cutting.  Mount that on a Double Oval punch of white, so it really stands out.

The Real Red layer is embossed with the Brick & Mortar folder.  Wrap some Magenta Madness around it, and tie in a knot, before you secure it to the card front.

Final touches were stamping and hand-cutting the small words, and attaching some rhinestones and In Color Enamel dots.
Stamps:  Well Said
Ink:  Tuxedo Black
Paper:  Magenta Madness, Real Red, Whtie
Other:  Brick & Mortar embossing folder, Playful Alphabet dies, Well Written dies, Stitched Shapes dies, Double Oval punch, Magenta Madness ribbon, Red Rhinestones, In Color Enamel Dots, Foam Adhesive Sheets

Lastly, I wanted to make a card with an envelope full of "conversation hearts".  I used the Wreath Builder dies to cut out a bunch of the hearts with various papers.  I showed how to make the vellum envelope using the Envelope Punch Board.

Card base is Rococo Rose.  Blushing Bride layer is embossed with the Dainty Diamonds folder, and then layered with White. Attach the vellum envelope to the card front itself, and then add glue to the hearts and place them inside the envelope.  Add some on the outside.

Final steps were stamping and hand-cutting the words.  Add some Basic Pearls.

Stamps:  Well Said
Ink:  Tuxedo Black
Paper:  Rococo Rose, Blushing Bride, So Saffron, Purple Posy, Balmy Blue, Soft Seafoam, White, Vellum
Other: Wreath Builder dies, Dainty Diamonds embossing folder, Envelope punch board, Pearls

I hope you liked seeing how I come up with my card designs, and then the process of figuring out what works/doesn't work.  I really hope you are inspired to make some Valentine's this year!
