Do you want to REALLY coordinate your gifts??? Today, I wrapped all my gifts for a baby shower next weekend, and wanted to make a coordinating card and tag. The easiest trick is to use the wrapping paper as you would designer series paper. It's a lot thinner, so it's not the best to work with - but you can make it work.
Here's my finished card AND envelope. I made a 5" x 5" card. The hardest part for me was to find card stock, markers, and ribbons in my stash that matched close enough. I'm happy with how this turned out. I had some retierd Bashful Blue card stock in 12" x 12", so I was able to make a 5" x 5" card and the tag out of one piece, and I still have some left overs.
You can see that I added a tag die, and some circle punches to the card front. Embossed some of them, and hand-cut the elephant toy and popped him up. He has Wink of Stella all over him too. Found some colored enamel dots that matched well enough, so they ended up on there too.
In making this card set, I actually made the envelope first. Cut the wrapping paper down to whatever size the Envelope Punch board tells you do, for the size card you're making. You don't want to press super hard when scoring on the wrapping paper. It really is thin - or maybe I just got cheap paper...it was all they had when I went to the store.
After making my envelope, I cut another piece of the wrapping paper for my card front layer. I taped it on to some white card stock. After that, you're ready to make the card like you normally would. The wrapping paper is acting exactly like designer series paper.
For the tag, I had a 2" wide piece of Bashful Blue so I punched one end with the Fancy Tag Topper punch, then embossed with an old Stars embossing folder. Rip the end, and added some punched out circles - again...see how I punched out a circle of the wrapping paper?
Finished with lots of ribbon, and some enamel dots.
After I wrote in the card and sealed the envelope, I tied more ribbon around the envelope. Also added a little double oval greeting, popped up with dimensionals.
Here's the finished card again -
I can't wait to drop everything off next weekend, for the virtual baby shower. I think it's a really neat idea - we all drop off presents in a certain time frame, and then the parents will open all the gifts on Zoom. We all get to be a part of it, and see everything. I'm excited!
