Hi Crafty Friends! Yesterday, I demonstrated my January 2021
Workshop. My theme for this month's workshop is Birthday cards, focusing on using one of the $50 level freebies from Sale-a-Bration - the Approaching Perfection stamp set. I like to start off the year with several birthday cards in my stash, for when I get behind and need cards quickly!
Be sure to check out my Workshop of the Month page for all the details.
Just a reminder that I go Live on my Facebook Page every Thursday at 11:00am ET.
If you are not able to catch me live, you can still watch it
on my Demonstrator Page later, OR on YouTube. If the picture does not
appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.
For those of you not into videos, I'll
give a brief description of what I did for each project. Every project used the Approaching Perfection stamp set, and the Frosted & Clear Epoxy Droplets.
I started with a flower card, using the Gorgeous Posies stamps and the Paper Blooms DSP (another Sale-a-Bration freebie with a $50 purchase!). The Old Olive card base has a layer of Soft Seafoam on top, embossed with the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder. Then I added a 3" strip of the Paper Blooms DSP.
Stamp and hand-cut a couple of flowers (these are so easy to hand-cut). The greeting is stamped on a piece of Very Vanilla that was cut with the Stitched Nested Labels dies. Attach a piece of Scalloped Lace Trim behind the greeting, and pop everything up with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Finish with a few of the Clear Epoxy Droplets.
Ink: Rococo Rose, Night of Navy, Old Olive
Paper: Old Olive, Soft Seafoam, Very Vanilla, Paper Blooms DSP
Other: Stitched Nested Labels dies, Scalloped Lace Trim
Next, I went in a completely different direction - from flowers to seahorses! This card features the Oh So Ombre DSPs (yet another Sale-a-Bration freebie that you can get from a $50 purchase). I demonstrated, and showed, two different prints from this paper pack. Your make-n-take kit will have one of these prints.
I used the Seaside Notions stamp set, and started by stamping some of the coral near the bottom of the printed paper.
A Bermuda Bay card base has a layer of Whisper White, and the Oh So Ombre dsp. Your kit will also have the scalloped and oval shapes, that were cut with the Layering Ovals dies. I embossed the oval shape with the Seabed embossing folder. The WOW factor on this card was adding some Frost White Shimmer Paint all over the Seabed-embossed oval. Let that dry for a minute.
I stamped the seahorse and the greeting, and hand-cut them. Flag the end of the greeting with the Banner Pick a Punch. I also painted some of the Frost White shimmer Paint in the seahorse, using a small paint brush.
Stamps: Approaching Perfection, Seaside Notions
Ink: Bermuda Bay
Paper: Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, Oh So Ombre DSP
Other: Seabed embossing folder, Layering Ovals dies, Banner Pick a Punch, Frost White Shimmer Paint.
Third project is a more masculine card, or something for a world traveller. The "NEWS FLASH" stamp from Approaching Perfection made me think of the old-timey news announcements with the morse code noises in the background...This just in...!
I used the World Map dies to cut out the globe and stand (Brass Foil). The Soft Suede background is embossed with the Old World Paper folder (LOVE THAT ONE!!!). I added just a strip of the World of Good designer series papers, and a little piece of the Early Espresso Faux Suede ribbon.
The cool thing, or ONE of the cool things, about this card is that I colored the Clear Epoxy Droplets with the Mocha Stampin' Blend marker. That was the darkest brown alcohol marker that I had. I love the effect.
Ink: Early Espresso
Paper: Early Espresso, Soft Suede, Sahara Sand, Balmy Blue, Brass Foil, World of Good DSP
Other: World Map dies, Tasteful Labels dies, Old World Paper embossing folder, Early Espresso Faux Suede ribbon, Mocha Stampin' Blend marker, Frosted & Clear Epoxy droplets
Lastly, I finished with a Rainbow Birthday card. This card ONLY used the Approaching Perfection stamp set.
Stamp the candles on a white panel, in rainbow colors. I used Poppy Parade, Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Pacific Point, and Gorgeous Grape.
Use the "happy birthday" to stamp the tone-on-tone background. Use either the same color ink, or the Versamark ink pad to get the tone-on-tone.
Stamp the greeting, and punch out with the Tailored Tag punch. Then I stamped and hand-cut that teeny tiny balloon.
Ink: Poppy Parade, Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Pacific Point, Gorgeous Grape, Versamark
Paper: Pacific Point, Granny Apple Green, Poppy Parade, Mango Melody, Whisper White
Other: Tailored Tag punch, Frosted & Clear Epoxy Droplets
I hope I've given you some great birthday card ideas, mainly using this Approaching Perfection stamp set - get yours free with a $50 purchase during Sale-a-Bration!
