Kissing Technique - Pocket Projects

The Kissing Technique has been around for a long time, but I thought I'd bring it out for another stroll.  It's definitely worth having this technique in your arsenal.  You need a solid-ish stamp, and a background stamp.   I did a quick demo of the technique a few days ago, and then made two projects with the pieces.

Just a reminder that I go Live on my Facebook Page every Thursday at 11:00am ET.

If you did not catch me live, you can still watch it on my Demonstrator Page , OR on YouTube.  If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.

For those of you not interested in watching videos, I'll give a little recap here.  (Card stock measurements are in the description section of the YouTube video).  I used the Love of Leaves stamps, because they are all good solid-ish stamps.  I also used a bunch of different background stamps, some of which are retired.  Use what you have!

The gist of the Kissing Technique is this:
  • Ink up your background stamp in a darker ink.
  • Ink up a solid-ish stamp in a lighter color (or stamp off once, using the same ink color as above).
  • Then press your inked image (leaves in this case), on to the darker-inked up background stamp to pick up that background pattern.
  • Stamp that on your card stock.  I did a lot of tone-on-tone stamping here, meaning I used the same color card stock and ink.
This picture shows a close-up of the Kissed pieces.  For the Cajun Craze leaf, I used only Cajun Craze ink and paper.  Inked up the Buffalo Check Background, then stamped off the leaf ONCE (to make it lighter), before I pressed that on to the Buffalo Check Background stamp.

The blue leave is Pool Party card stock.  Leaf is stamped in Pool Party, and then the Tree Rings Background stamp was inked up with Bermuda Bay (darker).  I think it kind of looks like finger prints!

The smaller brown leaf was stamped on Very Vanilla card stock.  I stamped the leaf in Crumb Cake, and the Burlap Background stamp is inked up with Early Espresso (darker).  I like that pattern too!

So that gives you a close-up of the leaves.  I stamped the same leaves for both projects.

First up, I made a Cider Drink mix pocket.  This style of a pocket can hold a card, drink mix (cider/chai/hot cocoa), or whatever you want that will fit.  It needs to be flat-ish to fit.  The pocket base is Cajun Craze, and I added a layer of the Gilded Autumn designer series paper.  I love that stuff!!!

I die cut a scallop and circle, and embossed the circles with the Wrapped in Texture folders.  Layer the die-cut leaves on that, and add the greeting right on top.

Add the drink packet before you tie the ribbon around it.Wrapped it with some Embroidered Trim, and added some Gilded Gems to finish.

Next I case'd an idea for another pocket project.  I've added two tea bags here, but again - you can add whatever will fit inside.  Money, concert tickets, gift cards all fit too!

This one started out with an Early Espresso base, folded to make a pocket on the inside. Put your items in the pocket, and then make your belly band.  I like to secure the belly band on the front, and then cover that over with something.  Here I used a Scallop and circle again, like the other project.  Emboss the Very Vanilla circle with Wrapped in Texture embossing folders, and die-cut some more of the Kissing Technique leaves.  I added a pop of metallic here with the larger leaf.  Finish this one with some Champagne Rhinestones (have I mentioned a time or two, how versatile these Champagne rhinestones are???)

I  hope you decide to re-create these projects, and send a little joy to friends and family.  I think we could all use a little happy mail these days!
