Summer is here!

Hello Crafty Friends!

This week, my video theme was "Summer is here".  That doesn't always mean beach theme, even though I'm in Maryland and the beach is only 2 hours away.  For me, it means some different things - BRIGHT colors, some beachy stuff, and humidity.  I can't really stamp Maryland humidity, but I can handle bright and ocean things now.  :)

(You may notice that my pictures look a little different - I've spent some time figuring out how to create a new watermark, and I'm trying to get the sizing right.)

These were the samples that I made, followed by a picture of what I actually made in this week's video using different colors.

If you didn't catch me live, you can still watch it on my Demonstrator Facebook Page, OR you can click the picture below to view it on YouTube.

If you don't care to watch videos, these are the projects that I demonstrated, and more info about each.

First up is a quick and easy card, using sponge daubers to get two colors of ink on the feather.  I added Mango Melody ink to the feather stamp first, then added the Magenta Madness around the outside of the feather.  It's a great way to add multiple colors to your stamped images!

I really like the orange and pink together!

If you can see the difference - I used Basic rhinestones on the Magenta Madness card, and some of the opaque white Elegant Faceted Gems on the Mango Melody card.  I like both, but the rhinestones seem to show up better against the white cardstock background.  Live and learn...

Stamps:  Tasteful Touches
Ink:  Mango Melody, Magenta Madness, Midnight (Catherine Pooler)
Paper:  Mango Melody, Magenta Madness, Whisper White
Other:  Rhinestones, Elegant Faceted Gems

Next up, I did some watercoloring using my ink pads.  I stamped the flowers on watercolor paper with Catherine Pooler's Midnight ink.  Let that sit for a bit, then color in the flowers using an Aqua Painter and inks from ink pads.

I make a paint palette but smashing the ink pads directly on to a clear block.  You pick the ink up directly from the block with your Aqua Painter, and watercolor away!

I used the new Fancy Phrases stamp set for this card.  I like the fonts, and the flowers.

Here's a close up - you can see that I flicked on some Gold Wink of Stella pen for some splatters.

Stamps:  Fancy Phrases
Ink:  Mango Melody, Magenta Madness, Midnight (Catherine Pooler)
Paper:  Mango Melody, Magenta Madness, Whisper White
Other:  Tasteful Labels dies, Black 3/8" Glittered Organdy ribbon, Rhinestones, Gold Wink of Stella pen

Last up is a project that I am SO IN LOVE with!  I found the cute Seahorse pens at Cracker Barrel, and had to put together a little pen and notepad gift set.  I love finding neat little things like that!  I got a pink pen, and two of the blue/green pens - they coordinate perfectly with Magenta Madness and Just Jade.

The only thing I really made was the tag.  I used the new Fancy Tag Topper punch, and Old World Paper embossing folder on the tag base.  Then I added a 2 1/4" circle of Crumb Cake card stock that I ran through with the Scripty embossing folder, layered with some Whisper White.  I used the Layering Circles dies to get that Whisper White layer - it's about a 2 3/8" circle.

I stamped the three sea shells, from Seaside Notions, on Just Jade cardstock using Just Jade ink.  Hand-cut them.

Stamp the greeting from Fancy Phrases, and cut out using the Tailored Tag punch.  Attach that to the tag, and then I added my cut out shells around it with Stampin' Dimensionals.

*NOTE* The Fancy Phrases stamp set and Fancy Tag Topper punch come as a bundle, saving you 10%!

Run a Clear Wink of Stella marker over ALL of the sea shells, TWICE.  This gives the shells a lot of gorgeous shimmer.

I tied the tags on with Whisper White Baker's Twine, and some Berry Burst and Just Jade ribbons.  Everything is inside of a 3" x 9" Printed Gusseted cellophane bag.  It's the perfect size!
