Halloween Post-It Pad and Pen - Step-by-Step Tutorial

How cute is this???  Bonus - it won't rot anyone's teeth!  It's a post-it holder, with a tiny little Halloween pen (post its and pens found at Walmart).

Let's make one!

Base card stock:  Cut 3 1/4" x 7 1/2".  I used Terracotta Tile for this one.

Score at 3 1/4", 3 5/8", and 4".  You can't tell in the picture, but the "square" on the left side is smaller (3 1/4" wide), than the one on the right side (3 1/2" wide).

Flip this entire piece of card stock around 180 degrees.  The right side (smaller square) is what will be the FRONT of your post-it note pad holder. 

I went ahead and mounted my Monster Bash designer series paper (2 7/8" x 2 7/8") to a piece of coordinating card stock (3" x 3"), and glued that to the front, so I could keep myself straight as to which was the front.  Notice how that layer fits nicely, with even borders - that's another way to tell you've got the right side.

Looking at the (3) score lines that you have, fold your card stock at the MIDDLE score line.

Holding that together, make (2) cuts from the edge down to the score line.  This will make the tab that holds your pen.

Now the somewhat tricky part - you want the tab in the middle pushed OUT, like it is naturally going now.  The (2) tabs on each end, you want to push IN, towards the inside of the post it holder.  This may take some finagling, but you'll get it.

Add some red-line tape to the bottom half of those outside tab marks, as shown below. 

Peel off that red-line and stick it down.  You'll have this:

Now you've got this basic form for your holder.

Decorate the front to your liking!  I punched some Gray Granite card stock out with the Everyday Label punch, and stamped "Happy Halloween" towards the top half...then cut some off the bottom - to make a tomb stone.

Tape the tomb stone one, and add (3) little bats punched out using the Every Season Punch Pack (I got the bundle).  Add your pen, and you're finished!

Make these for any occasion!  Stocking stuffers, Valentine's, birthday party, wedding favors, even just a generic theme for year-round.

Stamps: To Every Season bundle (stamps and punch)

Ink: Tuxedo Black

Paper:  Terracotta Tile, Grapefruit Grove, Gray Granite, Basic Black, Monster Bash designer series paper

Other:  Everyday Label punch, Tombow liquid glue, Sticky Strip (red-line tape), Post it notes, mini pens.
