Let's have some FUN on World Card Making Day with a Halloween Shoebox Swap!
A Shoebox Swap is something that we often have at Demonstrator events, and I think you'll enjoy it. You design a card, using any materials that you want. Then, you bring everything needed (except for adhesives) for everyone who signs up to make ONE of your cards. All of your pieces must fit into a container the size of a shoebox - or a real shoebox if you have one.
When I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING - stamps, pre-cut/scored papers, ink pads, punches, markers, glitter, doo-dads, ribbon, stapler,,...whatever it takes to make your card. If anything needs to be die-cut, or dry-embossed, you need to do that beforehand. Instructions should not be necessary unless it's something tricky - let's say for this first time, nothing tricky.
Each shoebox sits at a station. Every guest goes around to each station, and makes that card. At the end of the afternoon, if there are 10 guests, we'll all leave with 10 different cards.
RULES (We always have rules at these things):
1. Does NOT have to be Stampin' Up! materials. Design your card using anything from your stash - as long as you have enough for all the cards.
2. Use quality card stock and papers. 80-100 lb. minimum card stock.
3. No frayed edges, unless it's supposed to be roughed up. Clean cut lines. If you need a new blade in your cutter, make it happen.
4. Put your sample card in a clear plastic envelope, so it stays nice - this is for your benefit, so it doesn't get wrecked.
5. Make sure all of your materials fit in your shoebox.
6. Make a list of all the materials in your shoebox, so we know that nothing goes missing at the end of our day.
7. Cards should be 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" folded, so they fit in a standard Medium/A2 envelope. If your card is a wonky size, include an envelope - or make them out of some fun papers!
8. Have FUN!!!
What to bring with you (in addition to your shoebox supplies):
- scissors
- all adhesives (tape, glue, Stampin' Dimensionals, Glue dots)
- bone folder
- pick-up tool
I'm going to limit this to 9 guests. I'm participating too, so we can have 10 cards if it fills up.
There is NO COST for this event.
I'll provide some sort of Halloweeny snacks.
I think this will be a lot of fun, and I hope we can fill this up!
