25 Days of Christmas 2017 - Day 17

Ready for another tag idea?  We're on Day 17 of my 25 Days of Christmas 2017 ideas challenge.  Since I just got this Santa's Sleigh stamp set and thinlits, they're still my "new and shiny toys".  Speaking of shiny, I wanted to have some metallic interest on this item.  I combined metallic washi tape, sparkly paper, and sequin trim for the hanger - lots of shiny metallics!  I hope you like it.  This is one of those things that turned out so much better than what I originally planned in my head.  I love when that happens.

The washi tape shows through the cut out image.  I've done this technique with different punched out images, and strips of designer series paper instead of washi tape.

How did I make this?  Easy enough.  First, I cut 2 of the same size scalloped ovals (the largest size) out of Whisper White card stock.  NOT at the same time.  Thinlits and Framelits are not intended to cut through more than one layer of card stock at a time.  Then, I cut the reindeer out of one of them.  I laid down my Year of Cheer washi tape on the other one, alternating all of the patterns.

Notice how I trimmed the washi tape very close to the edge.  That's so it doesn't peak out.  We're layering two same size scallop ovals, so I don't want anything hanging over the edge.

Mount the Reindeer relief oval on top of the washi tape oval using a LOT of glue dots. I flipped it over, and put down some Fast Fuse at the top to attach some sequin trim.  I had some Gold Mini sequin trim left over from the Watercolor Wishes card kit.

Next, I put down Tombow Liquid Glue all over so I could then mount that to a piece of Gold Glimmer paper.  This oval was the largest size oval in the thinlits set.  It barely peaks out from behind the largest scallop oval, but that's okay - it's still just enough glimmer poking out.  The sequin hanger is between the layers of card stock and gold paper.  The back of the tag is clean, and ready to write on - I like it!

You can easily take this idea and change it up based on punches or other dies that you might have.
