I know this doesn't look like much, because I did not decorate it. This Tri-Fold Folio made out of File Folders is a fun project!
While I was taking pictures for this blog post, I decided that I'm definitely going to wait until I get the JULY Product of the Month - the Begonia Belle stamp set. I'll add a floral theme to this amazing File Folder Folio.
Meanwhile, this blog post will share all of the IMPORTANT BITS - the cutting instructions and paper measurements that you'll need to create one of these folios yourself. Finished folio is 6" x 9"ish tall. I used TWO file folders (a center tab, and an end tab folder), FOUR 12" x 12" pieces of designer paper, and some cardstock to make this folio. My guess is that this File Folder Folio will hold at least 25 pictures and/or journaling.
Reminder about my ongoing BOGO Sale! You can find all of the details and information on THIS blog post. BOGO Sale dates are June 15 - July 15, 2026. If you have any questions at all, please email me and ask!
Just a reminder that I am generally Live on-line every Thursday at 8:00pm ET. I stream to BOTH YouTube and Facebook simultaneously, but I recommend viewing on YouTube.
If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube. If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it.
I'll document the file folder cutting instructions and measurements first, then I will list out the paper measurements for each panel. I also took pictures of my prototype pieces, since I did not glue them together. It's like I was thinking ahead or something. :)
I want to point out - you should cut and score your file folder pieces first, but DO NOT glue them together. You'll want to add some of the cardstock/designer series paper layers before assembling. Watch the video for assembly.
Also, save all of your file folder scraps. You'll need some of them.
1. Center Tab File Folder - first cut this file folder in half at the factory fold. Using the half that has the center tab on it... save the bottom half for step 4.
- Cut at the RIGHT side of the tab, at 8" from the left edge.
- Flip that piece over, so the tab is the left and score at 6" and 6 1/2".
- This will end up being the Center Panel of our Tri-Fold Folio.
- With the tab at the left side, cut at 7".
- Score at 6", and 6 1/2".
- This will end up being the Right Panel of our folio.
- Cut it to be 9" tall.
- Cut it 5 1/2" wide.
- This will end up being our Left Panel/Front Cover.
- Cut TWO pieces that are 5 1/2" x 8 3/4", from each end.
- Score at 1/2" from the factory fold end.
- These will be Top and Bottom Flips that we'll add to the Center panel.
- Cut a piece 3 1/4" x 6 1/2".
- Score at 1/2" on three sides as shown.
- Trim corners out, and mitre the flaps.
- This pocket will be added to the inside of the Right panel.
- Cut a piece 4 3/8" x 9.
- Score at 4 3/8", and 4 5/8".
- This flip will get glued inside the left-side spine.
Now I'll give you the paper measurements for each panel.
