Good evening friends!
I'm sharing the projects that I made this past Thursday night - Christmas Eve in July theme...since it was July 24th. I shared projects that I typically need to make on Christmas Eve, or whatever last minute situation I'm in. Gift bags, tags, and boxes are what I usually need to package up my holiday gifts.
The beauty of these projects is their versatility - change up the colors, papers, stamps for any occasion that you need! Birthday, anniversary, wedding shower, baby shower, just because, ANYTHING.
Just a reminder that I am generally Live on-line every Thursday at 8:00pm ET. I stream to BOTH YouTube and Facebook simultaneously. NOTE: Facebook has been behaving poorly for quite some time, so I recommend viewing on YouTube. Also, Facebook is no longer saving videos longer than 30 days, so if you need to watch an older video - YouTube is your best option.
If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube. If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it.
Even though my theme is Christmas Eve in July - I don't have a lot of current Christmas stuff! I hope the upcoming September-December Catalog has some really great choices. I had to make do with what I've got - and I encourage you to do the same!
Watch the video for cutting and assembly of all these projects.
First project is a great gift bag made from a 9" x 12" piece of designer series paper. Pattern direction is important here, so double-check yours before you cut it. I also shared a pretty cool way to attach ribbon handles without using eyelets. I learned this method from my friend Sue (@KrusinThroughInk). You make slits on the very top fold, and slip the ribbon in through the slit. Tape it down securely, and that flap folds over onto the ends of the ribbon pieces.
The hardest part for me was seeing where to cut on this Need for Tweed paper. My eyeballs did not like it! I love the paper, but it was a real struggle for this project.
Finished gift bag size is 4 1/4" tall x 6" wide by 1 1/2" deep.
Paper Measurements:
- Need for Tweed DSP: 9" x 12"
- On the 12" side, score at 1", 5 1/4", 6 3/4", 11
- On the 9" side, score at 1 1/2", 7 1/2"
Here's a closer look at those handles. You can't even tell where they start!
I recommend ribbon at least 1/2" wide for your handles. You can certainly go wider if you want. Anything less would be too flimsy.
Stamps: none
Ink: none
Paper: Need for Tweed Designer Series paper
Other: Cherry Cobbler Polka Dot Scalloped ribbon
The second project is a tag. When I am mass-making tags, I prefer to use punches because they make the process go so much quicker. Right now, I don't have any current tag-shaped punches - and that's fine! I used two circle punches. Whatever you have! If you don't want, or like it, layered - then don't. You can certainly make a single-layer tag.
I stamped on the smaller layer circle, then stamped and hand-cut presents and the greeting. Pop the green present up, to give it some interest.
Paper Measurements:
- Old Olive: 2 1/2" and 2" circle punches
- Basic White: scraps to stamp and hand-cut presents and greeting
Finish off with some Sparkle Gems.
Stamps: Party Celebrations, Greetings of the Season
Ink: Real Red, Garden Green, Old Olive
Paper: Old Olive, Basic White
Other: 2" and 2 1/2" circle punches, Hole Punch Assortment, Sparkle Gems, Linen Thread
The third project is probably my favorite - nice-sized box. This box is 5" x 5" x 5". YES! The box bottom is made from TWO pieces of 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock. Adding some squares of DSP to the sides, makes it a little sturdier. I don't recommend putting a big, heavy candle in this box, but it can definitely hold something substantial.
Paper Measurements:
- Real Red: (2) 8 1/2" x 11"
- On 11" side, score at 5", 10"
- turn to the left once and score at 5"
- Reindeer Greetings DSP: (4) 4 3/4" x 4 3/4"
- Garden Green: 7 1/16" x 7 1/16", scored at 1" on all 4 sides
- Garden Green: 4 7/8" x 4 7/8", embossed with Forever Plaid folder
I tied on the tag that I made, to finish this box. Wild Wasabi seam binding is old.
Stamps: none
Ink: none
Paper: Real Red, Garden Green, Reindeer Greetings Designer series paper
Other: Wild Wasabi seam binding
Remember - these designs can be changed up to suit any occasion. Just change the papers and colors!
Join me this Thursday for a Honeycomb Mini Album. I bought some Hexagon dies a few months back, and a mini album has been on my to-make list. I'll also be using the Cute as Can Bee dsps that are still available. It's going to BEE so CUTE!
Thanks for visiting, and Happy stamping!
