New In Colors: Playing with different color combinations

Hello Friends!

Today I'm sharing the projects from Thursday night, when I got to play with some fun In Color combinations.  I felt like I haven't used the new In Colors much since they came out, and I wanted to rectify that.  I used the 2025 Color Coach from Stampin' Up! to come up with these combinations.  I posted that Color Coach PDF to Toni's Stamping & Sharing Group on Facebook - that's the only place I can share files.  Click over HERE and save it, if you want to.

Just a reminder that I am generally Live on-line every Thursday at 8:00pm ET.  I stream to BOTH YouTube and Facebook simultaneously.  NOTE:  Facebook has been behaving poorly for quite some time, so I recommend viewing on YouTube.

If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube.  If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.

First project features what is becoming one of my favorite In Colors - Secret Sea!  I'm surprised that I love this color this much.  I mean, it's blue....and blue is typically not my favorite.  This one is SO dark, it's almost black.  I did my quick watercolor method using inks, clear blocks, and aqua painters to lay down color on these butterflies.

I also threw in the brand new coming-soon Sunflower 3D embossing folder.  This comes out July 1st, and you're going to want it!  It's a 6" x 8 1/2" folder, which is an amazing size!

Color Combination:  Secret Sea, Calypso Coral, Crumb Cake

Paper Measurements:
  • Crumb Cake:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Crumb Cake:  4" x 5 1/4", embossed with Sunflower folder
  • Basic White:  scraps to stamp/die-cut butterflies and hand-cut greeting
Butterflies are all popped up.  I added a small piece of Linen Thread behind the greeting and glued that down flat.  Hit the butterflies with some Clear Wink of Stella, and finish off with some Textured Dots.

Stamps:  Sketched Butterflies
Ink:  Secret Sea, Calypso Coral, Midnight (Catherine Pooler)
Paper:  Basic White, Crumb Cake
Other:  Sketched Butterflies dies, Sunflower embossing folder, Linen Thread, Clear Wink of Stella brush, Textured Dots

The second card features the Layers of Beauty stamps and coordinating stencils/masks.  I haven't used these in a while.  I ink-blended the color on.  Fairly simple.  I used the Eyelet embossing folder for the background, but you could use any generic folder that you have.

Color Combination:  Cloud Cover, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive

Paper Measurements:
  • Cloud Cover:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Cloud Cover:  4 1/8" x 5 3/8", embossed with Eyelet folder
  • Basic White:  scrap to stamp/die-cut flowers and greeting (Arches dies)
  • Old Olive:  scraps to die-cut a few small leaves
Flowers are popped up.  Greeting is glued down flat.  Add a few more Old Olive die-cut leaves.  Finish with regular Pearls.

Stamps:  Layers of Beauty Bundle
Ink: Cloud Cover, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Darling Duckling
Paper: Cloud Cover, Basic White, Old Olive
Other:  Everyday Arches dies, Eyelet embossing folder, Pearls

The third project is a cheerful colored slim line card.  Use whatever "ocean" or "sealife" stamps/dies that you have.  I know Ocean Friends stamps are no longer available.  The dies and designer series papers are though!  You could hand-cut some of these critters right from the paper.

Color Combination:  Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana, Pumpkin Pie

Paper Measurements:
  • Strawberry Slush:  8 1/2" x 7", scored at 3 1/2"
  • Basic White:  3 1/4" x 8 1/4", for inside of card
  • Strawberry Slush:  3 1/4" x 8 1/4"
  • Basic White:  3" x 8"
  • Coastal Cabana:  1" x 8", embossed with So Swirly folder
  • Pumpkin Pie:  scrap to die-cut coral
  • Basic White:  scraps to stamp/die-cut crab & lobster, greeting
Pop the crab, lobster and greeting up with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Finish off with some Pretty in Pink and Strawberry Slush Gems.

Stamps:  Ocean Friends Bundle
Ink:  Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana, Pumpkin Pie
Paper:  Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana, Pumpkin Pie, Basic White
Other:  So Swirly embossing folder, Strawberry Slush/Pretty in Pink Gems

The last project leans toward my favorite season - FALL!  I wanted some leaves, but I honestly don't have much current product. Then my Paper Pumpkin showed up in time, and I was able to use the leaves from that set.  Full of Charm is the kit name.

Random stamp a background with the two leaves, then add some Itty Bitty Backgrounds dots in Blackberry Bliss to tie it all together.

Color Combination:  Darling Duckling, Timid Tiger, Blackberry Bliss

Paper Measurements:
  • Blackberry Bliss:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
  • Blackberry Bliss DSP (I used an old pattern):  4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Timid Tiger:  3 1/4" x 4 1/2"
  • Basic White:  3" x 4 1/4"
  • Darling Duckling:  1" x 5 3/8"
  • Darling Duckling:  1 3/8" and 1 1/2" circles
  • Darling Duckling:  scrap to stamp/hand-cut two leaves
Hand-cut leaves are attached to back side of layered greeting.  Pop all that up with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Finish off with some In Color Flat Pearls in Timid Tiger and Darling Duckling

Stamps:  Simply Said, Full of Charm (Paper Pumpkin June 2025)
Ink:  Darling Duckling, Timid Tiger, Blackberry Bliss
Paper:  Blackberry Bliss, Timid Tiger, Darling Duckling, Regals DSP (Old pattern), Basic White
Other:  1 3/8" and 1 1/2" Circle punches, 2025-2027 In Color Flat Pearls

I hope I've given you some color combinations that you might not have thought of...give them a try!  Definitely click over to my group to get that Color Combination PDF.  It's got some great suggestions in there.  Something for every color.

Join me this Thursday for 12" x 12" scrapbook pages using the Wildflower Birthday Scrapbooking Workshop Kit.  I'm going to completely ignore the instructions (GASP!) and use the kit contents to create some original layouts!

Thanks for visiting, and Happy stamping!
