Nature's Paintings Watercoloring Kit

Happy New Year Friends!

This past Thursday night, I did some serious coloring while I talked about some changes and some goals that I have for 2025.  This Nature's Paintings Watercoloring kit is pretty cool.  The kit contains 24 pre-printed watercoloring panels, some watercolor pencils, and a water painter. It's only $25.00! Check it out here. I think it's a great kit for beginners and experienced paper crafters alike.

Just a reminder that I am generally Live on-line every Thursday at 8:00pm ET.  I stream to BOTH YouTube and Facebook simultaneously.  NOTE:  Facebook has been sporadically giving me fits lately, so I recommend viewing on YouTube.

If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube.  If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.

In the video, I just worked on coloring the panels.  I didn't have time to turn them into cards, so I'm sharing the finished cards now.  The original panels were 4 1/2" x 6".  I cut them down to create my cards.  Finished size of all the cards is 5" x 6 1/2".  I know it's kind of a weird size, but they will fit in 5" x 7" envelopes.

I used different products and methods to color each panel, just to show you some options.

For the first card, I colored everything with the watercolor pencils and the water painter.  I add my darkest colors first, then the lighter shade.  Use the water painter to blend the colors.

Paper Measurements:
  • Melon Mambo:  6 1/2” x 10”, scored at 5”
  • Basic White:  4 3/4" x 6 1/4", for inside of card
  • Colored Panel:  4 1/4" x 5 5/8"  (cut down after coloring)
  • Granny Apple Green: 4 7/16" x 5 13/16"  (this is 3/16" bigger than the cut-down panel)
Stamp some leaves all around the edges of the Melon Mambo card base.

I added some of the new Tiny Bee Trinkets to the finished card.  They're so cute!  Greeting is from the Greetings for All Ephemera Pack that is my free gift this month.

I also added Clear Wink of Stella to all of the flowers.  It's VERY shimmery in real life!

Stamps:  Spotlight on Nature
Ink:  Melon Mambo
Paper:  Melon Mambo, Granny Apple Green, Basic White, Nature's Paintings Watercolor Kit
Other: Watercolor pencils, Greetings for All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack, Tiny Bee Trinkets (available on January 7th, 2025 when the Jan-Apr catalog goes live)

For the second card, I used a technique suggested by my friend Shawn.  I used watercolor pencils and Stampin' Write (the water-based) markers.  The Stampin' Write markers act like a blender pen or water painter and blend the pencils while adding more color.  Use darker pencils, and lighter markers.  That really dark purple flower in the middle was a mess-up.  I had too dark of a marker at first.  This was my first time ever trying this technique - what better time or place than to do it LIVE?  :)

Paper Measurements:
  • Gorgeous Grape:  6 1/2” x 10”, scored at 5”
  • Basic White:  4 3/4" x 6 1/4", for inside of card
  • Colored Panel:  4 1/4" x 5 5/8"  (cut down after coloring)
  • Basic Black: 4 7/16" x 5 13/16"  (this is 3/16" bigger than the cut-down panel)
I used another greeting from the Greetings for All Ephemera pack, and added some Brushed Brass Butterflies.

Stamps:  None
Ink: None
Paper:  Gorgeous Grape, Basic Black, Basic White, Nature's Paintings Watercolor Kit
Other: Watercolor pencils, Greetings for All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack, Stampin' Write markers, Brushed Brass Butterflies

My third card is my favorite.  A) It's my favorite card out of these 3, and B) it's my favorite way to watercolor.  I use acrylic stamping blocks and ink pads to make a palette.  Just smash an ink block in an ink pad to get plenty of ink on it - then just pick up that color with a water painter.

The water painter that comes in the Nature's Paintings Kit has a very thin brush tip, which was perfect for getting in these sunflower petals.

Note:  Using this method to color works great on watercolor paper OR Basic White Thick cardstock.  However, the ink does not spread at all on non-watercolor paper.  I still like the effect, so I use this method a lot.  It's a very quick way to watercolor.

Paper Measurements:
  • Mossy Meadow:  6 1/2” x 10”, scored at 5”
  • Basic White:  4 3/4" x 6 1/4", for inside of card
  • Colored Panel:  4 1/4" x 5 5/8"  (cut down after coloring)
  • Pecan Pie: 4 7/16" x 5 13/16"  (this is 3/16" bigger than the cut-down panel)
I used another greeting from the Greetings for All Ephemera pack (ink-blended Daffodil Delight all over it), and added some Brushed Brass Butterflies.

Stamps:  None
Ink: Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, Garden Green, Old Olive, Pecan Pie, Crumb Cake
Paper: Mossy Meadow, Pecan Pie, Basic White, Nature's Paintings Watercolor Kit
Other: Greetings for All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack, Transparent Dots

I hope you like these finished cards.  Over the next three weeks, I'll be working on some Valentine/Love themed projects using products from the Marbled Elegance Suite.   Treat bags, a small paper bag album, cards, envelopes, and even some 12" x 12" scrapbook pages.

Thanks for visiting, and Happy stamping!
