Happy Snowy Saturday from Maryland! We got another inch or so of snow last night/this morning, and I'm enjoying being inside today. :) Today I'm sharing the projects that I made on Thursday night. For the next three weeks, I'll be using products from the Marbled Elegance Suite. This is an Online Exclusive item, meaning it's not in any printed catalog.
Just a reminder that I am generally Live on-line every Thursday at 8:00pm ET. I stream to BOTH YouTube and Facebook simultaneously. NOTE: Facebook has been sporadically giving me fits lately, so I recommend viewing on YouTube.
If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube. If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.
This week, my focus was on using the Gift Bags Combo pack, designer series paper, and embellishments. The Gift Bags Combo pack comes with 16 bags! 8 large, and 8 small. The bags are stampable, and they really are very thick and sturdy. I was quite surprised at how thick they are. These are not flimsy lunch sacks at all.
The small bags are perfect to hold some miniature candy. I put 10 pieces in mine, but they could hold a few more. Could also hold small gifts. I decided to do some stamping on the bag itself (bag on the left was my prototype, with no stamping on the bag).
After stamping the bag and adding candy, I stapled the bag closed at the top and added a small cardstock topper. Doll it up with some pieces from the Celebrate Love Ephemera Pack - which is perfect for Valentine's Day projects! Finished with some Heart Sequins and Purple Sequins (from Sale-a-Bration).
Paper Measurements:
- Melon Mambo/Real Red: 3 3/8" x 2", scored at 1"
- All other pieces came from the Celebrate Love Ephemera pack
Stamps: Friends for Life, Itty Bitty Backgrounds
Ink: Real Red
Paper: Melon Mambo, Real Red
Other: Gift Bag Combo Pack, Celebrate Love Mix & Match Ephemera Pack, Heart Sequins, Purple Seqins, stapler
My second project uses FOUR of the Large Gift Bags to make a Mini Bag Album. A Galentine's Gift Bag Album. You'll have to watch the video to see how to assemble the pieces. With a regular Paper Bag Album, you would fold the lunch bags over which yields a left page and right page, with the fold in the middle. Then you glue the "pages" of different bags together to get the album base. Well - that doesn't work with these Gift Bags. The bags are not tall enough to fold over, and because they are so thick and sturdy - folding them over is not an option anyway.
So I had to come up with my own idea for connecting the bags together. This is my original idea, so if it's wrong - it's all on me! But it worked out perfectly. :) I created cardstock "hinge pages" to connect the bags. These cardstock hinge pages also yielded two more pockets to use.
I'm including a few extra pictures, but you'll definitely want to watch the video. Finished album size is 4 1/2" x 5 3/4". Spine is approximately 5/8", and the outer edge (with all inserts in the pockets) is about 1 1/2". Expect that to get bigger as pictures are added.
You can see that I die cut several different heart shapes. Embossed some. I also used some old heart punches. Note: I do not have the heart dies that go with the Hearts of Elegance bundle. I'm using some old SU heart dies, and some Unity heart dies. Use what you have!
Gold-emboss greeting on the Melon Mambo heart. "Friend" is die-cut from Gold Foil and Real Red cardstock. Everything is glued down flat on the front cover.
First set of pages when you open the book. The left page has the bottom of the gift bag for a tuck spot. Insert is a booklet with a tag punch on top and some ribbon.
Final picture showing that all of the pockets have a booklet int them. That really fattens up the book!
The video will help make these paper measurements more clear.

Thanks for visiting, and Happy stamping!
