This month's virtual workshop kicks off my FIFTH Annual Wreaths Across America Fundraiser! My Mom and I started this in 2020, and I have continued on with it. She was my biggest supporter, and I really miss her at times like this. Between Dave and I, 3/5 of our parents are buried in Military cemeteries so this is personal for us.
I decided on Napkin Cards for my November Virtual Workshop because - who doesn't love napkin cards!? It's all about finding beautiful napkins and then designing a card around that. You'll get the napkins in your Make & Take kits, and just use whatever greetings you have in your stash to create your cards.
Of course, if you want the Make & Take Kit, you should check out my Workshop of the Month page for details about this workshop, the ordering special and the online ordering code. Place your qualifying order and get the Make & Take kit, and possibly some beautiful cards from my card rack!
Just a reminder that I am generally Live on-line every Thursday at 8:00pm ET. I stream to BOTH YouTube and Facebook simultaneously.
If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube. If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.
Even though I've got another post with all this info, I want to share it again here -
My goal is to sponsor 100 wreaths at the Crownsville National Cemetery that my group (ToniStamps Wreaths Fundraiser) is registered with. This is where my Dad is buried. There are two ways you can help me reach my goal!
Option 1. You can sponsor wreaths directly, with no purchase from me. Follow the link below to get to my official ToniStamps Wreaths Fundraiser page. Wreaths are $17 each.
The CUT OFF DATE to order wreaths in time for placement in our area this year is December 6th!!! That's like an extra week longer than we normally have.
If you have loved ones at the Crownsville National Cemetery, you can select "Grave Specific" when sponsor your wreath. Grave Specifics have to be purchased individually, and still count towards my goals. If you don't know your loved ones plot info, you can check here - www.findagrave.com
My group is still registered with the "3 For2" program, which means for every 2 wreaths that are sponsored, we get one FREE...3 total. If our group ends up sponsoring 100 wreaths, we'll get another 50 for free!
Option 2. Place your Stampin' Up order online using code SQMD4STK. <---- Click that link to place your order with the code already added. Please Note: place your order by 11/30/2024 in order to count towards my donation. I am donating 25% of all the November workshop sales to sponsor even more wreaths! On top of that, I'm matching with another 25% for my own personal sponsorship.
So...napkin cards! Let me say up front that I normally use Stampin' Up's Adhesive Sheets for my napkin cards. It's fast, and no mess. I have received a lot of feedback on my other napkin card videos, suggesting that I use a glue stick to adhere the napkins to the cardstock - so I tried it out. The glue stick works FINE. However, I have to allow for some drying time, because the cardstock curls up after I apply the glue stick. I don't have that kind of time during a live show. :)
You should use whatever adhesive system you prefer for napkin cards.
First up is a Slimline card because this napkin was a tall dinner napkin. Perfect size for a slimline. I needed a tall card. These pumpkins are so beautiful! Reminder that Make & Take kits come with envelopes for all of the cards.
Paper Measurements:
- Cajun Craze: 8" x 7", scored at 3 1/2"
- Basic White: 3 1/4" x 7 3/4", for inside of card
- Mossy Meadow: 3 1/4" x 7 3/4"
- Basic White: 3" x 7 1/2", to adhere your napkin to
- Adhesive Sheet: 3" x 7 1/2"
- Cajun Craze: scrap for greeting
I embossed my greeting with Copper embossing powder, and added some Copper Metallic gems to finish.
Stamps: Friends for Life
Ink: Versamark
Paper: Cajun Craze, Mossy Meadow, Basic White
Other: Metallic embossing powders (Copper), Metallic Gems
The second card is a Front Step Panel Pop-Up Card. I love this card design because it sits up on your table or desk like a display piece. For this card, I had two pieces of Basic White to cover with the napkin. I'm including a random flower cluster and greeting from the "Say Something" and "Fully Flowering" Mix & Match Ephemera packs. Everything should coordinate with the Shy Shamrock base.
Paper Measurements:
- Shy Shamrock: 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2", 6 3/4", 8 3/4", 10"
- Basic White: (2) 4" x 5 1/4", one to put on the back to write on, one to adhere napkin
- Adhesive Sheet: 4" x 5 1/4"
- Shy Shamrock: 2 3/4" x 5 5/8", scored at 3/8", 1 5/8"
- Basic White: 2 1/2" x 3 3/4". I used a glue stick on this piece to attach the napkin
- Shy Shamrock: 1 3/4" x 4", embossed with the Cane Weave folder
Picture of card standing up. I love it! Folds up and fits perfectly in an A2/medium envelope.
I added some Brass Butterflies and Clear Swirl dots to finish. I could not find my Iridescent Faceted Gems - found them as soon as I turned the camera off!
Stamps: None!
Ink: None!
Paper: Shy Shamrock, Basic White, Say Something and Fully Flowering Mix & Match Ephemera Packs
Other: Cane Weave embossing folder, Brass Butterflies, Pecan Pie & Clear Swirl dots
The third card features a gorgeous poinsettia napkin. I actually had two packs of napkins with different poinsettia prints on the, and this was the better of the two - in my opinion. What I want you to take from this card is to try embossing your napkin/cardstock layer...after any glue dries, if you've used a glue stick. How do I know to remind you to let it dry???? I'm not going to be cleaning my Forever Plaid embossing folder with rubbing alcohol to get glue off of it. Eeek!
So anyway, try embossing your napkin layer with a subtle or generic embossing folder. Maybe a quilt-like print would look nice too.
Paper Measurements:
- Poppy Parade: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
- Garden Green: 4" x 5 1/4"
- Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
- Basic White: 3 13/16" x 5 1/16", to adhere Napkin to
- Mossy Meadow/Poppy Parade: scraps to die-cut and layer greeting
Emboss the greeting in gold, and finish with some Gold Metallic gems. I did pop the greeting up on this one.
Stamps: Greetings of the Season
Ink: Versamark
Paper: Poppy Parade, Garden Green, Basic White
Other: Forever Plaid embossing folder, Metallics embossing powders (Gold), Metallic Gems
For the last card, I had these beautiful sunflower napkins. Not seasonal at all, but gorgeous! They coordinate perfectly with Old Olive and Early Espresso.
Paper Measurements:
- Early Espresso: 5 1/2" x 8 1/4", scored at 4 1/4"
- Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
- Old Olive: 4" x 5 1/4"
- Basic White: 3 13/16" x 5 1/16"
- Adhesive Sheet: 3 13/16" x 5 1/16"
- Basic White: scrap to stamp greeting
Finished off with some brown sequins from the Neutrals Sequins pack.
Stamps: Throughout the Year
Ink: Early Espresso
Paper: Early Espresso, Old Olive, Basic White
Other: Neutrals Sequins
I hope you love these napkin cards as much as I do! Once you start making napkin cards, you really start seeing napkins differently when you're out and about, or something catches your eye at the store. Lots of possibilities!
Reminder that this month's Workshop is all about supporting the Wreaths Across America! Scroll back up to the top of this post to see how you can participate or help. Thank you!
