August 2023 Virtual Workshop - Darling Details!

Happy Saturday Crafters!

If you weren’t able to join me live on Thursday night, please check out the video below.  This month's Workshop features the Darling Details bundle and a couple of different paper packs.  You can copy these ideas with ANY flower set that you have.  I think floral stamps are a staple in any crafter's stash, and all the stamp companies are constantly coming out with more to entice us.

Check out my Workshop of the Month page for details about my workshop, the ordering specials and the online ordering code.  Short version:  Use code 2TYPK2DD when placing your qualifying order online this month and get some freebies -
  • $50 online order (before tax/shipping) will get you the Make-n-Take kit (all the paper pieces and envelopes) for this workshop.
  • $75 online order (before tax/shipping) will get you the Make-n-Take Kit AND a pack of the NEW Adhesive-Backed Sequins Trio.
Just a reminder that I am generally Live on-line every Thursday at 8:00pm ET.  I am streaming to BOTH YouTube and Facebook simultaneously.

If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube.  If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.

First project is a card featuring a popped up frame, and one of my favorite prints from the Masterfully Made designer series paper packs.  So many bright and fun colors in this pack!  This particular print features flowers made from ripped up pieces of cardstock, so I'm confident that ANY flower stamp that you have will work here.

Stamp and die-cut a few flowers and stems and glue on to the popped up frame.  I stamped the sentiment on a scrap and hand-cut it...ripped the sides, because I love to do that.  Finish off with some of the Pretty Peacock sequins.

Very easy card to put together, but striking with all of these colors.

Paper measurements:
  • Pretty Peacock:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2”, scored and folded in half at 4 1/4”
  • Basic White:  4” x 5 1/4”, for inside of card
  • Masterfully Made DSP:  4" x 5 1/4"
  • Pretty Peacock: 2 3/" x 4", die cut with smallest frame die
  • Basic White:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2", notched corner for stamping and cutting out your flowers/stems/greeting
Notice the smaller flower at the top of the cluster is lighter - I stamped off once for the flower base, and stamped full strength for the overlay.  Berry Burst.  Same technique (it's technically called Generation Stamping) for the Pretty Peacock leaves.

Ink:  Berry Burst, Sweet Sorbet, Lemon Lime Twist, Pretty Peacock
Paper: Pretty Peacock, Basic White, Masterfully Made Designer series paper

Second project is another COLORFUL delight, and it's a Faux Shaker Card!  Also sometimes called a Faker Shaker.  I had actually never made one of these until the video, and I like it!  The "faux" part is that you use a clear envelope to slide in your background and then fill with whatever shaker bits you're using.  Seal and fold up your envelope and glue it to the front of your card.

I filled my shaker with some Loose Silver Sequins.  You use whatever sequins or bits that you have.

I covered that up with a popped up frame of Azure Afternoon, and added some more flowers and a sentiment.

Paper measurements:
  • Azure Afternoon:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Masterfully Made DSP:  3 1/4" x 4 3/8", for inside the clear envelope to make your faux shaker
  • Azure Afternoon:  2 3/4" x 4", cut with smallest frame die
  • Basic White:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2", notched corner to stamp and die-cut flowers/leaves/sentiment

I didn't add any Sequins to the front, since there are already so many INSIDE the shaker.

Paper:  Azure Afternoon, Basic White, Masterfully Made Designer Series papers
Other:  clear envelope, Loose Silver Sequins

Third project is another card, using smaller strips of the Hello Irresistible designer series papers and some lighter flowrs - in Bubble Bath this time.  I think the most important thing to do on this card is lay out your pieces of DSP first, to get the spacing right, before you glue them down.  It's called dry-fitting.

Stamp and cut out your flowers and stems.

Paper measurements:
  • Pretty Peacock:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4"
  • Soft Seafoam:  4" x 5 1/4"
  • Hello Irresistible DSP/white vine print:  (2) 1" x 3 7/8"
  • Hello Irresistible DSP/seafoam dots print:  (2) 1" x 2 3/4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Basic White:  1 1/2” x 2 3/4”, to stamp greeting on
Stamp greeting in the center white panel, and add some smaller flowers in Bubble Bath.  Pop the die-cut flowers and stems up.

Finish off with some of the Berry Burst sequins.  They're actually a lighter pink than I expected - I like them!

The last project is an original idea from me, and I'm calling it a Tri-Fold Window Pocket Card.  It's got two pockets, and a window looking at the front one.  Folds up and fits inside a medium envelope for mailing!  I did not put a greeting on this, but you could certainly add whatever sentiment suits you.

I scored and folded the tri-fold bit, then cut a window out of the front panel.  Add window sheet to the back side of that front panel, and pop up this die-cut on top.

Stamp and die-cut flowers and leaves and arrange on top of the popped up frame.

Paper measurements:
  • Crumb Cake base:  7 3/4" x 10 3/4".  Score on long side at 3 5/8", and 7 1/4".  Turn once to the right and score at 5 1/2".  Finished tri-fold is 3 5/8" x 5 1/2"
  • Crumb Cake:  3" x 4 1/4", cut with smaller frame die
  • Window Sheet:  3" x 4 1/4"
  • Basic White:  3 3/8" x 5 1/4" for inside of tri-fold
  • Basic White:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2", to stamp and cut out flowers and leaves
Open the pocket card and you see the packet of seeds that I tucked in that front window pocket.  This is a FLAT pocket, so it's quite snug.  You could totally decorate that back flap on the right side if you want.

See the window sheet is just glued around the back side of the cut out.  You could certainly add another layer to cover that up, but that's going to make your pocket even tighter.

The whole thing wide open.  I added a panel in the middle for writing, and another fold up pocket on the right.  That Boho Blue is just a scrap that I had on my desk so you can see it's a pocket.

Finish off with some of the white sequins.
