Triangles and Quadrilaterals, oh my!

Sunday Greetings Friends!

I really didn't know what to call these designs so I just came up with Triangle and Quadrilateral Layers.  I got the idea from my friend, Sue Kruse - Krusin' Through Ink on Facebook.  The basic idea is you take (3) sheets of coordinating designer series papers, all cut to the same measurements - hold them together and cut all 3 at the same time.  Then you will mix and match the patterns to make 3 card bases.

You can layer them on cardstock, or just glue right to your card front.  The measurements are slightly different.

Let's talk about the name I gave these designs - Triangles and Quadrilaterals.  This comes from how you decide to cut your designer series papers.  Don't forget, you are cutting all (3) sheets of your designer series papers at the same time.  This is so they will all line up together when you mix and match them.

Triangles.   I measured down the left side of my designer series papers to the half way mark (in this case, it's 2 1/2", since my DSPs were 3 3/4" x 5").  Make a mark with a pencil, then cut from the middle to the corners on the right side.  If your paper size is different - just measure half way down the side, and cut to the opposite side corners.

Quadrilaterals.  Doesn't matter what size paper you have, and you don't need to measure any of your cuts.  You just want to cut angles so each has 4 sides.

My first batch was Triangles, and I used some retired papers.  I needed a birthday card, so I broke out this old Party Time clown set.  LOTS of coloring.  Notice that I used three different colors for my card bases, and they all have a Basic White layer.

Paper measurements for cards with coordinating cardstock layer:
  • (3) card bases - either 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" OR 4 1/4" x 11", folded in half
  • (3) coordinating cardstock:  4" x 5 1/4"
  • (3) coordinating designer series papers:  3 3/4" x 5"
Picture of just the one that I finished - lots of coloring and Wink of Stella all over the clown and the balloons.

Stamps:  Party Time, Free Cake

Next batch was Quadrilaterals.  No measuring my cuts here.  I used some NEW, coming-soon papers called Hello, Irrisistable.  Available March 1st.  Added some flowers and greenery die-cuts from the Meadows and Forever Flourishing dies.  Stamped some different labels for greetings.  Pretty simple.

Paper measurements for cards with NO extra layer under the DSPs:
  • (3) card bases - either 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" OR 4 1/4" x 11", folded in half
  • (3) coordinating designer series papers:  4" x 5 1/4"
