Cozy and Bright Kit and extra cards

Hello Crafty Friends!

I hope you are enjoying your weekend.  I was working on this post from Thursday night, but we decided to go to the movies - so I'm finishing this up this evening.  We saw Thor, and I thought it was decent enough.

Thursday was all about the new Cozy & Bright Kit!  Spoiler alert - I did not make any alternate cards with the kit pieces.  I made a few cards directly as they were designed, then I used the stamps that come with the kit to make a few other cards.  I love the greetings in this kit!  They'll work for both insides and outsides of cards.

The Cozy & Bright Kit is an all-inclusive kit, meaning it has everything you need to make 12 cards.  Printed card bases AND envelopes, die-cuts, stickers, linen thread, a clear block, photopolymer stamp set, Poppy Parade ink spot, AND adhesives - mini glue dots and Stampin' Dimensionals!  For $23.00, I think it's a great value.  This is part of the Kits Collection and available while supplies last.  Sometimes they re-stock the kits, but not always.

Just a reminder that I am generally Live on-line every Thursday at 8:00pm ET.  I am streaming to BOTH YouTube and Facebook simultaneously.

If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube.  If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.

I started off making just (3) of the cards from the kit, as they were designed.  The only thing I added was some Gilded Gems.  I thought they could use some more shiny gold.  And that greeting - adorable!  Orange you glad it's Christmas!  There are plenty of other non-corny greetings in the stamp set.

No paper measurements for these, because I used only the materials from the kit.

After the "kit cards", I jumped into making some cards using the stamp set that comes with the kit.  For this first one, I went to the Sketch from the Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers group from last month.  Here's the sketch that shows all the measurements:

And then here's what I made using the sketch.  I used all scraps of Painted Christmas designer series paper for all my layers.  My card base is Poppy Parade, and then I stamped and die-cut the holly leaves/berries in Evening Evergreen, Shaded Spruce, and Poppy Parade.

I'm looking at this picture, and can't believe that I didn't put any gems on this card!  I'm going back and adding some Iridescent Rhinestones right now!

Stamps:  Cozy & Bright kit
Ink:  Poppy Parade, Evening Evergreen, Shaded Spruce
Paper: Poppy Parade, Basic White, Painted Christmas Designer series paper
Other:  Seasonal Labels dies

Next, I made a snowflake card showcasing the beautiful Snowflake Specialty Vellum.  This paper pack comes 12" x 12", and has 3 sheets with an Iridescent print (below), and 3 sheets with a Flocked print.  I thought this pattern looked like snow, so I added some Wonderful Snowflakes die-cuts along with the greeting.

Paper measurements:
  • Basic White Thick:   5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4"
  • Snowflake Specialty Vellum:  4" x 5 1/4"
  • Basic White:  scrap to die-cut label for greeting
The label was made using the Seasonal Labels dies, and I show in the video how to make the label smaller - to fit a smaller greeting.

Greeting is embossed in Silver, and I finished with some of the wonky shaped rhinestones from the Adhesive-Backed Sequins and Gems.

After I made my video, I went back and made the same card but using the Flocked print.  Here they are next to each other.

And a show of the Flocked vellum card alone.  Notice that I flipped the Wonderful Snowflakes die-cuts over, to the plain side.

I finished with the same greeting, and rhinestones.

Stamps:  Cozy & Bright kit
Ink:  Versamark
Paper: Basic White (Thick and Regular), Snowflake Specialty Vellum (both prints)
Other:  Seasonal Labels dies, Wonderful Snowflakes, Adhesive-Backed Sequins and Gems

For the last card, I went with an Outside the Box idea - using the new Fish Builder punch to make Christmas Lights!  Now - I did not add any "socket" or whatever that part is that the bulbs actually plug into on the wire, but you get the idea...  I was going to use Black Baker's Twine at first, but then thought of the silver. I have no idea why.  We have never had christmas lights on a silver cord.

Paper measurements:
  • Granny Apple Green:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4"
  • Granny Apple Green:  4" x 5 1/4", embossed with Whimsical Woodland folder
  • Basic White: scrap to stamp and hand-cut greeting
  • Hues of Happiness Designer Series paper:  strips or scraps to punch out bulbs
Cut the fish tails off, and pop them up on the silver cord with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Finish with some Iridescent Rhinestones!

Stamps:  Cozy & Bright
Ink:  Gorgeous Grape
Paper:  Granny Apple Green, Basic White, Hues of Happiness Designer Series paper
Other:  Fish Builder punch, Silver cord, Iridescent Rhinestones

I hope you all enjoyed the cards, and check out out the Kits Collection!  New kits are added quite often...seems like every other month or so.
