August 2022 Virtual Workshop - Season of Chic

Hello Crafty Friends!

Thank you for joining me for my August 2022 Virtual Workshop.  I must say up front - tonight's LIVE video experience was a total disaster!  My desk view camera was slow and not focusing.  I thought it was because of the storm/bad weather we are having here.  NOPE!!!  Turns out - it was not the weather, or technology!!  I gave up on the Live, and filmed everything off-line.  When I went to airdrop the video from my phone to my ipad, it said something like "You need to turn wi-fi on for this to work"  WHAT?!!!  MY HUSBAND was using my phone the other day, and he turned the wi-fi OFF.  :(  I was so mad!!!  Now I will always have to check that wi-fi is turned ON before I go live.  It was so frustrating for ME, and for those of you who tried to watch for as long as you could stand it.   Not a great way to kick off the month, but that's over now.

I re-filmed everything, and its loaded up to YouTube now.  I'm not even going to put it on Facebook.  So what did I make for this month's workshop?  I'm featuring the Season of Chic bundle because I think it's a good year-round, versatile set.  It's got ALL of the seasons covered, some great sentiments, and having the dies that match...perfect!  I also designed the projects so that you should be able to use any other leaf/flower/snowflake/fall leaves stamps that you have.

Just a reminder that I am generally Live on-line every Thursday at 8:00pm ET.  I am streaming to BOTH YouTube and Facebook simultaneously.

If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube.  If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.

For my first project, I used the seashells with the Sale-a-Bration Cards & Envelopes (which are no longer available).  I show both card base colors, but your kit will contain one or the other (my choice).  We've got an embossed layer of vellum, along with a frame that I cut out with the Stitched Rectangles dies.

Paper Measurements:
  • Pre-printed Sale-a-Bration card base:  5 1/2" x 4 1/4" finished.
  • Vellum:  4" x 5 1/4", embossed with Seashells folder
  • Soft Seafoam/Pool Party:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece, cut frame out using Stitched Rectangles dies
  • Soft Seafoam/Pool Party:  scraps to die-cut shells
  • Basic White:  scrap to punch out with Lasting Label punch
I hand-cut some of the vellum layer off, then hand-mangled the corners.  Pop the frame up, and add shells and greeting.

Close up of the blue card.

Finish with some Iridescent Pearls.

Stamps:  Season of Chic Bundle (stamps and dies)
Ink:  Pool Party, Soft Seafoam
Paper:  Sale-a-Bration cards/envelopes in Pool Party and Soft Seafoam, Pool Party, Soft Seafoam, Vellum
Other:  Stitched Rectangles dies, Seashells embossing folder, Lasting Label punch, Iridescent Pearls

Next, I made a Gorgeous Grape base card with the snowflakes.  Ink blend three shades of purple on a piece of Shimmery White, then stamp a couple of snowflakes directly on that.  Layer with white, and pop up on the Gorgeous Grape card..

Paper measurements:
  • Gorgeous Grape:   5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4"
  • Basic White:  3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
  • Shimmery White:  3 3/4" x 5"
  • Basic White:  3" x 5 1/4" (for inside of card)
  • Shimmery White:  7/8" x 2 1/2"
  • Dazzling Diamonds/White Glimmer paper:  enough to die-cut snowflakes

Stamp the greeting and rip the edges (if you want).  Pop that up, and then glue down your Glimmer paper snowflakes.

Finish with some Pastel Pearls!

Stamps:  Season of Chick bundle
Ink:  Fresh Freesia, Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape
Paper: Gorgeous Grape, Basic White, Shimmery White
Other:  Pastel Pearls

For the third card, I decided on a Mini Slimline.  I make my Mini Slims 3" x 6" finished size.  I added some Perfectly Penciled Designer Series paper to this one - you choose which side of that paper you want to use.

I embossed a piece of Crumb Cake with the Tree Rings Hybrid embossing folder, then crumpled it up (some bits ripped and that's okay - adds to the texture!), then only slightly flattened it out and glued on to the Soft Suede card base.  It's not glued on evenly or straight - I like it that way.

Add more layers and texture!  I crumpled up a piece of the Rings of Love DSP, and added a leaf from the Leaf Label and Gems pack.  Stamp and hand-cut some acorns.

Paper measurements:
  • Basic Black:  6" x 6", scored and folded at 3"
  • Perfectly Penciled Designer Series Paper:  2 7/8" x 5 7/8" (I ended trimming down to 2 3/4" x 5 3/4")
  • Basic White:  2 3/4" x 5 3/4" (for the inside)
  • Basic Black:  scraps to die-cut flower outlines
  • Basic White:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2", notched corner to stamp and cut out flowers
  • Basic White:  1 1/4" x 4" strip, die-cut edge with Blossoming Happiness dies
Greeting is stamped in black, and glued down flat at a jaunty angle!  Add your flowers that you've stamps and cut.  Pop up some, and add those black outlines.

Finish off with some Iridescent Pearls.

Stamps:  Season of Chic bundle
Ink:  Sweet Sorbet, Onyx Versafine
Paper:  Basic Black, Basic White, Perfectly Penciled Designer Series paper
Other:  Blossoming Happiness dies, Iridescent Pearls

Last card is FALL!!!  It's a gatefold card, using the leaves stamps and dies from the bundle.  I love it!!!  I've also used some of the Gingham Cottage designer series paper.  Soft Suede and So Saffron work well together, especially for a fall card.

Paper measurements:
  • Soft Suede:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded at 2 1/8", and 6 3/8"
  • Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4", embossed with NEW Leaf Fall embossing folder!
  • So Saffron:  (2 pieces) 1 7/8" x 5 1/4"
  • Gingham Cottage/So Saffron print:  (2 pieces) 1 3/4" x 5 1/8"
  • Soft Suede:  2 1/2" x 2 1/2", cut with Stylish Shapes dies
  • So Saffron:  2" x 2"
  • Basic White:  1 7/8" x 1 7/8"
  • Soft Suede, So Saffron:  scraps to die-cut leaves
  • Soft Suede:  1 1/4" x 8 1/2" for belly band
Inside of this Gate-fold card -

This card is easy to assemble.  I include all of the pre-cut and embossed pieces.  All you'll need to do is stamp and hand-cut the poinsettias and greeting.

Finished off with some of the Fine Sparkle Adhesive-Backed Gems.  Even though the gems I used are really Pale Papaya - they match the So Saffron perfectly!

Stamps:  Season of Chic Bundle
Ink:  So Saffron, Soft Suede
Paper:  Evening Evergreen, So Saffron, Basic White, Gingham Cottage Designer Series paper
Other:  Stylish Shapes dies, Leaf Fall embossing folder, Fine Sparkle Adhesive-Backed Gems

I hope love these projects as much as I do!  CASE them with your own supplies - I'd love to see what you make!  And don't forget to take advantage of Sale-a-Bration for the rest of August!
