Two posts in one day... it's been a long day, long week, long 18 months really. My twin sister passed this Monday, July 4th. :( Words cannot describe the feeling of loss, so I won't try right now. She'd been battling pancreatic cancer since March 2021, and finally lost that battle. It's been a hard 18 months on our family - we were all involved in her treatments, and taking care of her all this time. Spending time with her, even to just watch Hallmark channel for a bit...I miss her so much.
We had her service today at my Mom's church, and I made one last project for Tracy last night. This picture was taken of her dancing and having fun at my wedding 20 years ago. This is one of my favorite pictures of her! I put this, along with a basket full of travel size Kleenex, on the table at the church, as people walked in.
I like to make these Frame Art projects - I take a regular picture frame, and make the base page with LOTS of raised up details. The glass is actually behind the cardstock, so it's still pretty hefty. I suppose I could put cardboard or something behind it...but this is what I do. It's not protected, and it's not a shadow box. Regular old picture frame.
My picture is 5" x 7", and this is an 8" x 10" frame.
I started off by stamping some random fern and flower images from Forever Ferns, all over an 8" x 10" piece of Polished Pink cardstock, using Polished Pink ink. You could use Versamark ink for the same tone-on-tone effect.
Then I stamped, watercolored, and die-cut a bunch of flowers from Happiness Abounds.
I wanted pinks with a little bit of purples, because Mom and I chose mostly pinks for the big floral arrangement at the service. To watercolor the flowers, I used Gorgeous Grape, Fresh Freesia, Polished Pink, and Melon Mambo. Leaves are Parakeet Party and Old Olive.
I gave her picture a white border, and then centered it. Next, I added clusters of the flowers and leaves in each corner.
Tracy loved the sparkles, so I added a bunch of Iridescent Rhinestones to finish it off.
I used the proof photo from my wedding album, so I'll keep this forever! I don't recommend keeping these types of projects sitting out in direct sunlight - the papers will definitely fade.
Supplies you'll need to create these (Stampin' Up, unless otherwise noted. Items may be retired.):

Your project for your sister is beautiful!! I'm sure you'll look at it many times and smiles at all the fun memories. I lost my sister 3 years ago and I have a huge picture of her and her two dogs, they were her two best friends. Mush love Toni.
