Hi Friends!
Today I'm sharing the birthday card that I made for my husband, AND the card that my Mom gave him. I really loved the colors and design of her card, so I used it as inspiration to make two card similar...
First, the card that I made for hubby. I used the For the Record stamp set, that is currently available in the 2022 January-June Catalog. This set is NOT in the upcoming Annual catalog, so get it before June 30th if you like it! I see lots of potential for more birthday cards, journals, and especially scrapbook pages!
He likes BLUE, so I made it blue. :) Since I recently discovered my hoard of Tempting Turquoise cardstock, I decided to use some. You could certainly use the NEW In Color - Tahitian Tide! Paired it with Basic Black and Pacific Point.
Paper measurements:
- Tempting Turquoise: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4"
- Basic Black: 4" x 5 1/4"
- Tempting Turquoise: 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
- Pacific Point: 3 3/4" x 5", embossed with Cracked folder (Tim Holtz)
- Waves of the Ocean DSP: 1 1/2" x 5"
- Pacific Point: 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" piece, stamp record and cut with largest Circle die
- Basic Black: enough to mount record, and hand-cut
- Tempting Turquoise: scrap to stamp greeting
- Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4" (for inside of card)
The layered record and greeting are popped up. Finish off with plenty of Waves Rhinestones.
Supplies you'll need to create these (Stampin' Up, unless otherwise noted. Items may be retired.):
Stamps: For the Record
Ink: Oreo (Taylored Expressions)

Paper: Tempting Turquoise, Basic Black, Pacific Point, Basic White, Waves of the Ocean Designer Series papers
Other: Layering Circles dies, Cracked embossing folder (Tim Holtz), Waves Rhinestones
NOW, for the card that my mom gave him and the two cards that I was inspired to make. I really loved the color, leaves, brown/wood bit, and copper embossing on her card. It did not occur to me to use Vanilla cardstock, but I knew I had some Cork paper in my stash. I should have taken close ups, but I'm just going to make this picture XL...
My cards are 4" x 6". I cut 1/2" off the Pear Pizzazz card, and 1" off the Mint Macaron card. Just seeing which one I liked better.
So I really loved that little wood strip down the side, and the leaves. I stamped my leaves on Mint Macaron and Pear Pizzazz . Then copper-emboss the greetings on both. This greeting is from the upcoming NEW catalog - Good Feelings. Ink blend tone-on-tone around the edges.
Cutting the edge off the cards gives a nice peek of the Cork paper.
Finished off with some Brushed Metallic Dots in copper.
Mom really nailed this card! He loved what was inside the card, and I love the card itself. I challenge you to case a card!
Paper measurements:
- Pear Pizzazz/Mint Macaron: 6" x 8", scored and folded in half at 4"
- Cork paper: 1" x 6", dragged the Cinnamon Cider ink pad over it
- Very Vanilla for the inside: 3 3/4" x 5 3/4"
That's it for the paper!
