April 2022 Virtual Workshop - Retirement Workshop!

It's me again!  Two posts in one day?  Crazy!

Welcome to my April Virtual Workshop!  This is my yearly "Retirement" workshop, where I use anything and everything in my stash that is retiring.   Stampin' Up now calls it the Last Chance List - items on this list are available WHILE SUPPLIES LAST only, or until May 2nd.  Stamps, dies, punches, papers, accessories...you name it.

Since this is my monthly workshop, you'll want to check out my Workshop of the Month page for full details of this month's offer (and freebie with qualifying purchase!) - which ends 4/30/2022 at 9:00pm ET.

Just a reminder that I am Live on-line every Thursday at 8:00pm ET.  I am streaming to BOTH YouTube and Facebook simultaneously.

If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube.  If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.

First up is an easy card - embossed layer of Mossy Meadow on a Merry Merlot card base.  Add a bit of designer series papers, and gold-emboss the greeting.  The designer paper really adds the perfect amount of extra color.  MOST of the current designer series papers are on sale now.

Paper measurements:
  • Merry Merlot: 5 1/2" x 8 12", scored in half at 4 1/4"
  • Mossy Meadow:  4" x 5 1/4", embossed with Tasteful Textiles folder
  • Very Vanilla:  4" x 5 1/4" (for inside of card)
  • Beauty of the Earth designer series paper:  2" x 5"
  • Very Vanilla:  2" x 5", cut with Ornate Layers dies
Embossed Mossy Meadow layer is glued down to the Merry Merlot card base.  Designer series paper is glued down to that.

I gold-embossed the greeting on the Ornate Layers die-cut, and popped it up with a lot of Stampin' Dimensionals.

Tie a knot of some gold ribbon (from last year's holiday catalog), and stick on with some glue dots.

Finished off with some of my MOST FAVORITE Last Chance item - Gilded Gems.  I am really going to miss these gems.

Stamps:  Ornate Thanks
Ink:  Versamark
Paper:  Merry Merlot, Mossy Meadow, Very Vanilla, Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper
Other:  Tasteful Textiles embossing folder, Ornate Layers dies, Metallic embossing powders (gold), Gilded Gems

Next card features the Parisian Flourish embossing folder, which I have used SO MUCH over the past few years.  It will be sorely missed as well.  Paired it with some birds, and another die set.  I wanted the base of this card to be pretty, but still generic so it will work with just about anything in your stash.

Paper measurements:
  • Gray Granite:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", folded in half at 4 1/4"
  • Gray Granite:  4" x 5 1/4", embossed with Parisian Flourish folder
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4" (for inside of card)
  • Basic Black:  4" x 4", cut with Encircled in Beauty dies
  • Shimmery White: 2 1/2" x 4 1/4", to stamp/hand-cut birds and greeting
Stamp the birds and greeting in black, then color in the birds.  I used Stampin' Blends. The birds are in Highland Heather (looks purple here, as it should), and Fresh Freesia (looks pink!).

Black die cuts and the embossed layers are glued down to the Gray Granite card base.  Then the hand-cut birds and greeting are popped up.

Finish this one with some Silver pearls, from the Metallic pearls.

Stamps:  Free as a Bird
Ink:  Midnight (Catherine Pooler)
Paper: Gray Granite, Basic Black, Basic White, Shimmery White
Other:  Parisian Flourish embossing folder, Encircled in Beauty dies, Stampin' Blends (Highland Heather, Fresh Freesia, Soft Suede, Soft Succulent, Balmy Blue), Metallic Pearls

For the third card, we're using a bunch of 1" strips of paper from the Simply Elegant designer series papers.  I love all of the metallics in this pack!  I cut the strips 1" x 3 3/4", then glued them down to a piece of Basic Black that is 3 3/4" x 5".  (Don't look too closely, one of my pieces wasn't quite 1" wide, so I have some gaps.)

Paper measurements:
  • Basic Black:  4 1/4" x 8 1/4", scored at 5 1/2"
  • Basic Black:  4" x 5 1/4"
  • Basic Black:  3 3/4"  5"
  • Simply Elegant Designer Series paper:  1" x 3 3/4" (5 prints)
  • Very Vanilla:  4" x 5 1/4" (for inside of card)
  • Very Vanilla:  2 1/4" x 4", cut with Tasteful Labels dies
  • Very Vanilla:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2", notched corner for stamping/cutting out of
Once you lay all your designer series paper strips to the 3 3/3" x 5" Basic Black piece - you should have no borders...attach that whole bit to the 4" x 5 1/4" layer.  Pop that up on the card base.

Stamp your greeting on the Very Vanilla die cut, in black ink.  Then I stamped a deer in black, and hand-cut him out.  You could stamp/cut/punch flowers or some other image that you have/like better.  You don't have to add anything other than the greeting.  It's up to you!

I finished this one off with some of the Polished Dots.  The Polished Dots are Petal Pink and Clear - I used some of both.

Stamps:  Tasteful Touches, Nature's Beauty
Ink:  Midnight (Catherine Pooler)
Paper:  Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Simply Elegant designer series paper
Other:  Tasteful Labels dies, Polished Dots

For the last project, I wanted to do something fun so I brought out the chickens from Hey Birthday Chick, along with a Z-fold.  Z-folds are a fun way to add some interest and movement to your cards.

Here it is standing up -

Paper measurements:
  • Pool Party:  4 1/4" x 11", scored at 2 3/4" and 5 1/2.
  • In Good Taste designer series paper:  2 1/2" x 4"
  • Pattern Party designer series paper:  2 1/2" x 4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4"
  • Pool Party:  3 1/4" x 3 1/4"
  • Basic White:  3" x 3"
Stamp the chicken in black on the Basic White.  Now this is regular weight Basic White - it's not thick, it's not Shimmery (which is thicker), it's not watercolor paper.  Just plain Basic White.  I still used a water pen and ink to watercolor the chicken!  I love this quick coloring technique and the effect.  Notice that there are spots of white/no color - that's okay!

I added some Genial Gems to finish this one.  The gems are Mint Macaron...but they're close enough to Pool Party.  It works1

Stamps:  Hey Birthday Chick
Ink:  Pool Party, Midnight (Catherine Pooler)
Paper:  Pool Party, Basic White, In Good Taste and Pattern Party designer series papers
Other:  Genial Gems

I really hope you enjoy these card using Retiring products!  Get your favorites before they are gone!

My Online Class this month (will air Live on April 11th and 12th) will be Hello Ladybug that I've advertised before.  Timing issues...I had to condense down to just one class this month.  You'll love it!

Thanks for visiting, and Happy stamping!
