Fun Easter or Spring projects!

Happy Day-After St. Patrick's Day everyone!

Last night, I made some really cute baskets that are perfect for Easter or Spring.  I made two baskets using 12" x 12", and 6" x 6" papers and then just showed one made with 8" x 8".  We also had time for a punch art tag, and an Easter card.

Just a reminder that I am Live on-line every Thursday at 8:00pm ET.  I am streaming to BOTH YouTube and Facebook simultaneously.

If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube.  If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.

I started off with the baskets.  This is the pattern that I drew during the video.  The only thing that changes, depending on your paper size, is where you score.  You want to score your paper EVENLY into fourths.   So, a 12" x 12" piece of paper...you'll score at 3", 6", and 9".  Turn your paper once, and score the same marks.

Cut all of the outer corners off, and then cut the score marks in the middle squares OUT.  That's the darker line in my picture.

You'll need to watch the video for how to pull each set of flaps, on each side, up and glue them together.

For the 12" x 12" basket, I used Rococco Rose cardstock.  Then I folded each corner flap down, using the edge of my table.  It was not as neat as I've made them in the past, but you get the idea.  One of my viewers suggested scoring the flaps before hand, and I'm definitely going to try that this weekend.  I think that will give a precise triangle corner.

I added triangles of embossed Rococco Rose to each corner piece too.  This picture shows the embossed bits.

Side view of the baskets.

I made this one ahead of time, using 8' x 8" piece of Purple Posy.  I used my bone folder to curl the corners a little bit, so it looks like a tulip.  I like it!

The last basket that I made was using 6" x 6".  My recommendation for this size basket is to use Designer Series Paper.  Cardstock just get to be too unwieldy to do all this folding and scoring.  Designer Series papers are just the right thickness to still be able to work with.

In my head, I thought this 6" x 6" would only hold ONE little Cadbury Egg, but in reality - it's bigger than that.  It will hold quite a few fun size pieces of candy.

Next I made a Easter/Spring tag using Punch Art with the Cactus punch to make a Chick in a basket!  This is so cute!  The flower pot part of the punch makes the basket (which I also embossed with the Tasteful Textiles folder).  The bigger cactus makes the body, the smaller cactus petals make the wings, and the little flower is the chicks hair!

I hand-cut the mouth out of a piece of Pumpkin Pie .

Tag base is from Tailored Tags dies.  Stamp some sprinkles from the Nature's Beauty set, all over the tag base.  I also added a hand-ripped piece of wood paper from the In Good Taste pack.

Finish the tag with some BumbleBee Gingham ribbon, and Classic Matte Dots for the eyes.  I'm not going to list paper measurements, because it's really all scrap pieces of Bumblebee, Cinnamon Cider, and Pumpkin Pie.

Finally, I made an Easter card using the ONE rabbit stamp that I have - from the Nature's Beauty set.  I started with a Magenta Madness card base, and In Color Designer Series paper layer.  Added a strip of Magenta Madness that I embossed with the Gingham folder.

Then I punched out a piece of Basic White with the Lovely Label punch, and scribbled in grass and a sky with some Stampin' Blends markers.  I wasn't going for realistic or precise.  I just wanted colors down that make you THINK of grass and a sky.

I stamped the rabbit on another piece of Basic White, and hand-cut him out.  Gave a few bits of color with Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends and added a pom pom butt!

Paper measurements:
  • Magenta Madness:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4"
  • Magenta Madness In Color Designer Series paper:  4" x 5 1/4"
  • Magenta Madness:  1 1/2" x 4", embossed with Gingham folder
  • Basic White:  scraps to punch out Lovely Label punch, and stamp/cut out rabbit

I finished with the Iridescent Rhinestones.   LOTS.   In case you're wondering why it doesn't say "Happy Easter" or something is because I don't have any current stamps from Stampin' Up with that greeting!  SHOCKER!!!  Ugh!  I'll put something else on it later.

Stamps:  Nature's Beauty
Ink:  Midnight (Catherine Pooler)
Paper:  Magenta Madness, Basic White, In Color designer series papers
Other:  Lovely Label punch, Gingham embossing folder, Stampin' Blends (greens, blues, Smoky Slate), Iridescent Rhinestones, mini pom pom.

I hope this gives you some ideas for your own Easter/Spring projects!
