Triple Time Technique!

Hello Crafty Friends!

Last weekend, my Stamp Club met on-line and we worked on some cards using the Triple Time Technique.  There are plenty of tutorials for how to do this technique, but you could start with this one from splitcoaststampers.  The general idea is that you cut your stamping layers (white or vanilla), stack them up on top of each other, and stamp all at once.  Then matte those with Black (or you could pick some other color), and build up your card front with all the layers.

For our version, we used different size layers, and scattered them - so they are not all just centered, on top of each other.  This variation makes for some more interest, I think.

These are the cards that I made.  I'll go into details about each one, but the layout and technique is the exact same for all.  Then I'll share pictures of everyone else's cards too - more ideas for you to enjoy!

Paper measurements (FOR ALL):
  • Card base (colored or White/Vanilla):  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", folded in half at 4 1/4"
  • Basic Black: 4" x 5 1/4", 3" x 3", and 1 1/2" x 2 3/4"
  • Basic White:  3 3/4" x 5", 2 3/4" x 2 3/4", and 1 1/4" x 2 1/2"
You can see from the measurements, each layer that you stamp on will be matted by a black piece.

For my first card, I went with some bright colors - orange, pink, and green!  I liked the blob-like images from Artistic Expressions stamps.  I added a few little dots in black at the end, to tie in the black layers a little more.

Stamps:  Artistic Expressions
Ink: Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Granny Apple Green, Midnight (Catherine Pooler)
Paper:  Melon Mambo, Basic Black, Basic White
Other:  Iridescent Rhinestones

For my second card, I wanted to change course entirely and use my new Seas the Day stamps! I used so many colors for all the fish and sea critters.

Stamps:  Seas the Day
Ink: Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, Pool Party, So Saffron, Calypso Coral, Blushing Bride, Highland Heather, Pale Papaya, Midnight (Catherine Pooler)
Paper:  Bermuda Bay, Basic Black, Basic White
Other:  Iridescent Rhinestones

Finally, I wanted to try a sepia-tone card...Soft Suede to the rescue!  I stamped some of the images off once, but you can barely tell.

Stamps:  Ranunculus Romance
Ink: Soft Suede
Paper:  Soft Suede, Very Vanilla
Other:  Very Vanilla Scalloped Lace trim, Linen Thread, Classic Matte Dots

One thing to note - I did not use Stampin' Dimensionals on any of my layers, but you certainly COULD.

MaryAnne came up with these - I love the colors, and the variety of themes!

Peggy shared these three cards - she has a real talent coloring with alcohol markers.  Great coloring, and I like the spotlights.

I really like the black and white, with just color for the card base.

And two from Kay - I love the bright colors of her swirls card, and then the reds and pink of the flowers.

(EDITED 2/23) Oh no!  I forgot to add Cindy's picture.  Here is her butterfly card!

I hope you enjoyed all of our creations, and are inspired to give this Triple Time Technique a try!  It's always fun to do something like this as a group, and see the variety that we end up with.

Don't forget about my Workshop of the Month page for full details of this month's offer - which ends on Feb 28th at 9:00pm ET!  I'm giving away a Calming Camellias stamp set - winner will be drawn from everyone who places their qualifying order on-line.  If you get the February Workshop make-n-take packet, you'll be entered into the drawing.

Thanks for visiting, and Happy stamping!
