Hi Crafty Friends! This week I aired my September 2021 Workshop, which is all about Halloween!
Workshop freebie for this month is a pack of the Cute Stars Adhesive-Backed Sequins OR one of the new Hostess sets (depends on your purchase amount)!!! Click on my Workshop of the Month page for full details on that offer.
Just a reminder that as of now, I go Live on my Facebook Page every Thursday at 8:00pm ET.
If you are not able to catch me live, you can still watch it on YouTube. If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it on YouTube.
I embossed a piece of Very Vanilla with the Macrame folder, and then ink blended some Crumb Cake all around and over it. Rip up a piece of the Beauty of the Earth designer series papers, and ink blend that as well.
The little girl is colored in with Stampin' Blends, but you could obviously use any coloring medium - colored pencils, watercolor pencils, water-base markers, soft pastels, inks and blender pens...whatever you have.
Paper measurements:
- Cajun Craze: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
- Pumpkin Pie: 4" x 5 1/4"
- Very Vanilla: 4" x 5 1/4" (for inside of card)
- Very Vanilla: 3 13/16" x 5 1/16", embossed with Macrame folder
- Beauty of the Season designer series paper: 3" x 4"
- Very Vanilla Thick: 2 1/4" circle
- Cajun Craze: 2 1/2" circle
- Very Vanilla: scrap for greeting
Everything is glued down flat, except for the layered circles. That's popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Stamps: Seasons of Fun, Banner Year
Ink: Midnight (Catherine Pooler), Cajun Craze
Paper: Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, Very Vanilla (Thick and Regular), Beauty of the Earth designer series paper
Other: Macrame embossing folder, 2 1/4" and 2 1/2" circle punches, Stampin' Blends (Calypso Coral, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Shaded Spruce, Pale Papaya)
Going to the bottom right corner (I'm going in order that I made them in the video) is a Halloween tree card, and I these tombstones are SOOOO CUTE! I thought the Ornate Frames dies would make the perfect tombstones, and I was right! Cut them out of Gray Granite, and ink blend the edges. You could stamp RIP or names on them, if you wanted. I went with Happy Haunting.
The tree is die cut from the Beautiful Trees dies, and it's really the perfect size for this. Designer papers are one of the $50 purchase Sale-a-Bration freebies - Beautifully Penned. I like the stripes. The circle of Mango Melody is 1 3/8" - from the Frightful Tags dies.
The only thing popped up on this card is that double-wide tombstone. Finish off with some of the Cute Stars - they really are cute!
- Basic Gray: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
- Basic Black: 4" x 5 1/4"
- White: 4" x 5 1/4" (for inside of card)
- Beautifully Penned Designer Series Paper: 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
- Mango Melody: 1 3/8" circle
- Basic Black: 3 1/2" x 4 1/2", cut with Beautiful Trees die
- Gray Granite: scraps to die cut (3) tombstones
Stamps: Banner year
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Paper: Basic Gray, Basic Black, Basic White, Gray Granite, Mango Melody, Beautifully Penned designer series paper
Other: Ornate Frames dies, Beautiful Trees dies, Frightful Tags dies, Cute Stars
My third project was a candy cane treat holder. I got these adorable Halloween candy sticks at the Cracker Barrel. Their country store is always such fun to walk through! **If you get the make-n-take kit, you'll get three candy sticks included in your kit.
I've used the largest label in the Seasonal Labels dies as the base for this treat holder. Score in 1 1/4" from each end - left and right. Put some tape in the middle and set the candy canes on top - to hold them in place. Then bring the side flaps up, punch holes and tie shut with some Baker's Twine.
Then it's all about making a cute dangle to hang off! I cut the spider web from the Be Dazzling papers, but if you don't have that, you could substitute Black Glitter paper, or even Silver Glitter.
- Pumpkin Pie: 3 1/2" x 4 1/2"
- Be Dazzling: 2 1/2" piece, die cut spiderweb
- Rich Razzleberry: scrap to die cut witch hat
- Basic White: scrap to die cut label
Here's a close up of my spiderweb dangle -
Finish with some more of those Cute Stars!
Stamps: Banner Year
Ink: Tuxedo Black, Pumpkin Pie
Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry, Basic White, Be Dazzling
Other: Black Baker's Twine, Cute Stars
Last, but not least, is the totally cute Mini Pizza Box...custom-sized to fit this Mini Moon Pie! I found these at the Aldi grocery store that just opened here a couple of months ago. It's hit or miss in there - it seems like they have different stuff every week.
Paper measurements:
- Pumpkin Pie: 7" x 9"
- Crushed Curry: 2 1/4" circle, embossed with Bark folder
- Basic Black: 2 1/2" circle
- Soft Suede: scrap to die cut owl
- Basic Black: scrap to die cut tree
- Basic White: scrap to die cut label for greeting
So how do you make this custom-size Mini Pizza Box? I started by measuring the Mini Moon Pie. I needed to box to be 3" x 3" x 1" tall. I drew out my Mini Pizza Box pattern. I always draw this diagram out when I make a pizza box, and add in the numbers - how big each panel needs to be. Then that tells me where to score. You'll really need to watch the video to see the cutting and assembly - then this picture will make more sense.
Get your box put together, and use the 1" circle punch to make a little thumb notch on the front. Put your Mini Moon Pie inside, and tie the Black Glittered Organdy ribbon around it.
Then it's just a matter of assembling the center piece and popping it up with some Stampin' Dimensionals.
Stamps: Banner Year
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, Crushed Curry, Soft Suede, Basic White
Other: Black 3/8" Glittered Organdy ribbon, Bark embossing folder, 2 1/4" and 2 1/2" circle punches, 1" circle punch, Cute Stars, Mini Moon Pie!
I hope you enjoyed my Halloween projects for this workshop! I'll be posting even more Halloween ideas throughout the month, so stay tuned.
