Good-bye Booklet Card

A co-worker is leaving our project, after 15 years!  I wanted to make a huge card for everyone to sign...and I thought I might as well make it have pages.  I created this booklet style card.  The base is an entire sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" of Tranquil Tide card stock, folded in half.

The background layer is a single piece of retired designer series paper - it's got a bokeh effect pattern on it.  Pretty cool.  I stamped a bunch of different "congrats" and "good luck" greetings all over.

The Oval dies are from Gina Marie Designs.  I cut those out, and stamped the greetings on.  The larger "congrats" is embossed on Tranquil Tide, and then hand-cut.  Palm trees are hand-cut as well.  Most everything is popped up.

I trimmed down some regular paper (from the printer), and folded in half.  My stapler wasn't long enough to reach the center of this booklet, so I had to use a 3-hole pamphlet stitch.   I used Linen Thread to bind it.

Here you can see the outside of the spine shows the binding.  I tied it in a bunch of knots and then a bow.

I thought I had some envelopes this size...but I was wrong.  Good thing I had a few sheets (FOUR, really) of 12x12 card stock left in Tranquil Tide - so I could make my own envelope.  I messed up the first one, and got real nervous knowing I only had 3 pieces left.  :(  It worked out!

I think I used 4 pieces of computer paper, so that should be plenty for everyone to write a message.  I just hope they don't all just sign their names really tiny...fingers crossed!

Supplies you'll need to create these (Stampin' Up, unless otherwise noted.  Items may be retired.):
