Same, but Different - two cards

I love to make cards like this - have some element(s) the same on both cards, and then change up something like color.  This time, I used the same stamp set for both cards, Free Cake, and the same design/layout.  I changed the colors, and the embossing folders.

The card design involves cutting 1/2" off the right hand side of the card front.  Emboss that front flap, and slide a piece of cardstock or something behind it.  Then I stamped the main image (boom box and cake), colored with Stampin' Blends, and hand-cut.  Those images are popped up on to a 2 1/2" circle, and then mounted on the largest size circle from the Stitched Shapes dies.

The greetings are stamped, and hand-cut, then attached to the front of the card with glue dots.  Finish off with some rhinestones.

Let's look at the purple cake card first.  I used Highland Heather card stock, along with some vellum and Very Vanilla.  The embossing folder is the Lace Dynamic folder.

I didn't get a picture - but I attached the 1/2" Lace Trim to the very inside edge of the front flap, and then sandwiched it between another layer of Highland Heather card stock (5 1/2" x a smidge under 3 3/4").

The picture doesn't show very well, but I did glitter the cake.  When I colored with the Stampin' Blends, I used the darker color first, to color the bottom half of the cake layers.  Then I colored over the entire thing with the lighter shade.

Cake was stamped in Early Espresso.  The image is like that (not completely solid) - it's not that I didn't ink it up well enough.

For the Boom Box card - I used the Sparkle embossing folder, and instead of lace or ribbon, I just slide an entire 1/4 sheet of Basic Black card stock behind that front flap.

I did use the Stamparatus to stamp the boom box and the words, so I could hit it with ink a few times and darken up that Tuxedo Black ink.

I colored the boom box in with Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, and Shaded Spruce Blends markers.

Personally, I never had a boom box that was this color - but that's okay!  I just wanted it to be FUN!

I hope you use this design on one of your own cards!  I made THREE more cards today, using this same design. I'll post those next.  :)
