Country Floral sponged

Some of you may recognize the card on the left from our recent Stamp Club gathering.  I need to make some swaps, and didn't have enough of the Coastal Cabana/Granny Apple Green ribbon left, so I changed the colors a bit.

Both cards are made the same way - emboss Whisper White with the Country Floral embossing folder, and sponge color over the raised bits.  Glue/tape that down to a layer of Vellum card stock, and tie some ribbon around it.  Then pop the whole thing up on your card base with lots of Stampin' Dimensionals.

We left this one intentionally blank, so it could be used for any occasion.  I love these colors together!  Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana, and Flirty Flamingo.

This version has a different feel to it, don't you think?  Even though it's the same design, and SOME of the same colors...I think I like the white base card above better.  I'm torn.  :)  I did add a greeting to this one, since it's for a swap.  I used two of the small words from Tabs for Everything.  I like those tiny word sets because you can build a lot of different sayings with all the different words.

This shows you a close-up of the vellum layer.  The ribbon goes around the vellum, and then that whole layer is popped up.

Take out one of your favorite embossing folders, and give this technique a try.  Emboss it, and then rub some color over with sponges (sponge daubers, or stampin' sponges, whatever you have).
