Frightfully Fun Finale

I've had a lot of fun creating with the Frightfully Fun DSP & Sticker Sheet, and the coordinating Two-Tone Cardstock pack.  These are both on the Last Chance list now, but only the Two-Tone cardstock is actually on sale.  Not everything on the Last Chance list gets discounted, and sometimes they change that and we just don't know.  SO, if these items interest you, keep an eye out for further discounts or just get them while you can.  I STILL have some left over bits, even after this week's projects.

That was my driver for this week - what else could I create with these cool papers and stickers?  I decided on a large treat box that I'll take to work, a small treat holder, and then a small journal.

Just a reminder that I am generally Live on-line every Thursday at 8:00pm ET.  I stream to BOTH YouTube and Facebook simultaneously, but I recommend viewing on YouTube.

If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube.  If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it.

First project is a really FUN and EASY basket/box made from a piece of 12" x 12" Two-Tone cardstock.  I pulled this one from the archives - I made these years and years ago, using 12" x 12" cardstock.  I will tell you - the Two-Tone cardstock is much easier to use and fold, versus regular cardstock.  Still sturdy enough to hold whatever candy or treats you want it to.

The cool thing about this project is that you can re-size it.  You just need paper that is evenly divisible by 3.  So 12" x 12", or 10 1/2" x 10 1/2", or 9" x 9", etc.  I really would not go any smaller than 6" x 6" - even that makes a very tiny box that is not very practical for use.  You might fit one hershey kiss or nugget in it... ONE.  :(  This 12" x 12" size is going to hold a whole bag of miniatures.

Side view.

Paper Measurements:
  • Two-Tone cardstock base:  12" x 12", score at 4" and 8", turn and score again at 4" and 8"
  • Frightfully Fun DSP:
    • TWO prints for outside and inside square panels:  (4 each print) 3 3/4" x 3 3/4"
    • Two prints for outside triangle panels:  (2 each print) 3 1/2" x 3 1/2", cut in half diagonally
Punch holes in the pointy ends and tie some ribbon through to keep it all together.

Stamps:  None
Ink:  None
Paper:  Frightfully Fun DSP, Frightfully Fun Two-Tone Cardstock
Other:  Black trim (I got this piece at Michael's)

My second project is a Triangle Treat Box.  The cool thing about this one is you can use any size paper that is twice as long as it is wide.  Think 3" x 6", 4" x 8", 5" x 10", even 2 1/2" x 5".  I think this piece was 4" x 8".

Again, I've made these a long time ago so I brought this back out.  Previously I'm pretty sure I used cardstock and got out the ruler and the score board...it's so much easier with DSP!  You don't need to measure anything.  Fold in half length-wise.  Then pinch the short ends to find the middle and then fold in diagonally.  (Watch the video to see what I really mean).

The hardest part is punching the holes in the sides and fishing some ribbon through to keep it closed.

You could add a tag if you wanted to, but I didn't.

I'm not going to list any paper measurements or supplies because it's really just one piece of paper.  Like I said, make sure it's twice as long as it is wide, and you'll be good to go!

The final project was a really cool One-Sheet Mini Album/Journal.  You can make this with, or without, a cover.  I chose to make this one WITH a cover.  For the base of this little ditty, you use a 12" x 12" piece of DSP to get a 3" x 6" finished size book with pockets.  Actually, the pockets are optional.  I always make pockets if possible, because it's just more room to hold stuff.  This little book is perfect for the tiny Sprocket pictures, or you can cut up regular 4" x 4" or 4" x 6" pictures.

I used stickers and a scrap of DSP to decorate the front cover and create an altered paper clip.  I was going to use the paper clip to keep the whole book closed, but the back side of the paperclip kept poking the back of the cover - in a bad way.  So I changed my mind and am using that paperclip to hold a folded photo matte on the inside front cover.

The only tricky part of this book is the cutting.  You'll need to watch the video for that part.  Also, you don't want a directional pattern for your BOOK.   A directional pattern is fine for the cover, as I did.

Paper Measurements:
  • Frightfully Fun DSP (base):  12" x 12"
    • Score at 3", 6", 9"
    • Turn once and score at 6"
    • Cut along that 6" score line, from 3" to 9" according to the video
  • Frightfully Fun DSP (Cover):  6 5/8" tall x 6 3/4" wide
    • Score on all four sides at 1/4"
    • Score on the 6 3/4" side at 3 3/8"
  • Basic Black Two-Tone cs (pocket tag inserts):  (2) 6" x 5", scored at 2 1/2"
  • Scraps to make pockets, tabs, photo mats

I mounted the BOO! sticker to a 1 3/4" circle of DSP and made a tuck spot.

Added some of the stickers for interest.

Stamps:  None
Ink:  None
Paper:  Frightfully Fun DSP & Sticker Sheet, Frightfully Fun Two-Tone CS pack
Other:  1 3/4" Circle punch, Keeping Tabs punch, Black/White Gingham ribbon, random orange sequins (from an older Paper Pumpkin kit)

I hope you had some fun with my Frightfully Fun Finale!  These are all Halloween, but obviously you can change up the papers to whatever occasion you need!

Join me this Thursday for a Give Thanks Tag Album, featuring the Autumn Opulence Designer Series Papers and some dies.  I was originally thinking of the Party Banners dies, but now I'm leaning to wards the Everyday Arches dies...  tune in and see what I come up with!

Thanks for visiting, and Happy stamping!
