Floral Charms and Card Sketches!

Happy Saturday Friends!  Today I'm sharing the projects that I made this Thursday night, featuring the Floral Charm Designer series papers and CARD SKETCHES!  I pulled these sketches from page 24 of the 2025-2026 Annual Catalog.  I am really happy that they are including sketches like this in the catalogs now.  There are card, tag, and even some scrapbook page sketches!  Sketches are a great way to create - the design is done for you, so you just have to decide on papers/colors/images!

Just a reminder that I am generally Live on-line every Thursday at 8:00pm ET.  I stream to BOTH YouTube and Facebook simultaneously, but I recommend viewing on YouTube.

If you are not able to catch me live, you can watch over on YouTube.  If the picture does not appear below, you can click HERE to get to it.

I made two cards from each sketch, and I'm using the Floral Charm papers for all of these projects.  My idea was to have one floral print, and one non-floral print for each sketch.  I ended up using the same print of paper, and turned it over for the second card.

I started off with the floral background card.  For this one, I decided to cut the circle OUT of the Floral Charm paper, and stamp on a piece of Basic White to layer underneath that.  I stapled on a piece of Timid Tiger ribbon for that element in the sketch.  Stamp and hand-cut some flowers to add a little bit of interest.

I also showed a way to use two different colors of Stampin' Write markers together to get some shading.  You don't always need Stampin' Blends!  You have to be careful though - too much ink saturation from the Stampin' Write markers (water-based) can make your paper pill up.  Just be careful.

Paper Measurements:
  • Mossy Meadow:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Floral Charm DSP:  4" x 5 1/4", cut with Spotlight on Nature dies approx 2 3/4" diameter
  • Basic White:  3 1/4" x 3 1/4"
  • Basic White:  scrap to stamp/color/hand-cut flowers
Finish with some Clear Wink of Stella all over the flowers, and a couple of different gems.  I used some In Color Flat Pearls (Darling Duckling and Timid Tiger), AND some Charming Shimmer Faceted Gems (Berry Burst).

Stamps:  With You in Mind, Natural Botanicals
Ink:  Tuxedo (Memento), Berry Burst
Paper:  Mossy Meadow, Basic White, Floral Charm Designer Series papers
Other:  Spotlight on Nature dies, Timid Tiger 3/8" Faux Linen Ribbon, Stampin' Write Markers (Peach Pie, Timid Tiger, Berry Burst, Strawberry Slush, Darling Duckling), Clear Wink of Stella brush, 2025-2027 In Color Flat Pearls, Charming Shimmer Faceted Gems, stapler

For my second card, still using the first sketch, I changed things up a bit.  Instead of cutting the circle out of the DSP, I cut a circle out of some Basic Beige cardstock and popped it up.  I used the same piece/print of Floral Charm paper, but flipped it over and embossed with the Forever Plaid folder to give it some dimension.

I really loved the new Light & Wonder dies that I got in my Sep-Dec Catalog pre-order.  These are going to make some cool tree backgrounds!  Die cut the different tree lines out of Mossy Meadow and Garden Green and glue on top of each other.

Instead of ribbon for that sketch element, I stamped a thin greeting piece.

Paper Measurements:
  • Mossy Meadow:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of card
  • Floral Charm DSP:  4" x 5 1/4", embossed with Forever Plaid folder
  • Basic Beige:  scrap to die-cut approx 2 3/4" circle with Spotlight on Nature dies
  • Mossy Meadow/Garden Green:  scraps to die-cut trees
  • Early Espresso:  scrap to stamp greeting
I die-cut a single tree out of Mossy Meadow cardstock, using the retired Forever Forest dies to add.  You could leave that off if you wanted.

Finish off with some Sparkle Dots in Mossy Meadow.

Stamps:  Simply Said
Ink:  Early Espresso
Paper:  Mossy Meadow, Garden Green, Crumb Cake, Basic Beige, Basic White, Floral Charm Designer Series papers
Other:  Spotlight on Nature dies, Light & Wonder dies, Forever Forest dies, Forever Plaid embossing folder, Low Profile Sparkle Dots

The second card sketch is landscape.  I pointed out that you can turn these sketches in any direction that you want.  I was going to turn the crab design into a portrait orientation, but I realized that I had already pre-cut that designer paper and I wanted my "seaweed" going in the right direction.

The card sketch has three small circles on it.  Those circles can be ANYTHING you want, and they don't have to be small - as you can see.   Again, I used the same piece of Floral Charm DSP for both of these cards - flipped it over for one.

For the floral card, my three circle elements are butterflies.  I used the retired Paper Butterflies and ink-blended colors on to them.  I finished with a Basic Black marker to color their antennaes black.  I can see now that the colors don't really stand out enough from the floral background...lesson learned.

Paper Measurements:
  • Pretty Peacock:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of the card
  • Floral Charm DSP:  4" x 5 1/4"
  • Timid Tiger:  2" x 2 3/4", cut with Nested Essentials dies
  • Basic White:  1 7/8" x 2 3/8", to stamp greeting
I added a few Brass Butterflies to finish it off.

Stamps:  Simply Said
Ink: Timid Tiger, Pretty Peacock
Paper: Pretty Peacock, Timid Tiger, Basic White, Floral Charm Designer Series paper
Other:  Nested Essentials dies, Paper Butterflies, Brass Butterflies

My last card is again using the second sketch.  Same piece of Floral Charm DSP, just flipped over.  This time I stamped and die-cut three crabs for my elements.  This card is monotone - everything Pretty Peacock.  Crab bodies are stamped off once to get that lighter shade.

Paper Measurements:
  • Pretty Peacock:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
  • Basic White:  4" x 5 1/4", for inside of the card
  • Floral Charm DSP:  4" x 5 1/4"
  • Pretty Peacock:  2" x 2 3/4", cut with Nested Essentials dies
  • Basic White:  1 7/8" x 2 3/8", to stamp greeting
  • Basic White:  scrap to stamp/die-cut crabs
I finished this one off with some Riverside Irregular Pearls in Lost Lagoon - they go nicely with the Pretty Peacock

Stamps:  Simply Said, It's Okay
Ink: Pretty Peacock
Paper: Pretty Peacock, Basic White, Floral Charm Designer Series paper
Other:  Nested Essentials dies, Riverside Irregular Pearls

I hope you can see the benefit of using sketches!  I like that it takes one thing off your plate when you're creating a card.  The design is sometimes the hardest part of creating for some people, so help yourself out!  It's okay to make things easier on ourselves.

Join me this coming Thursday for the CUTEST Halloween scrapbook BOX project!  I'll be making a Spooky Sweet Scrapbook Box based on this one that I made recently.  It's going to be adorable!

Thanks for visiting, and Happy stamping!
